Ronin is cool looking but looking at him now I don't understand how he ever got anything done. Vertical saws never really seem to do a whole lot, and he's slow as shit. Those giant spikes on his sides also are pretty much useless really, they just seem like a good way to let a wedge get under you and push you around.
Ginsu has many different incarnations. None of them were great but I think the one that fought in the season 2 exhibition match with Chinkilla was the most intimidating
Introducing, in the red square, it slices, it dices and does not play nice, there is no where to hide from the 6 ft wide, GINSU!
And in the blue square, it's the samurai slammer who should be in the slammer, throw out your white flag of surrender, you've got a blind date with RONIN!
I think that may be explained by the fact that its wheels were cerated sawblades. I don't think those have good traction. I also noticed that ginsu's build looked a bit flimsy, to have a drive chain come out by one impact. I think that was fixed later on, though.
IN ONE CORNER, WEIGHING 20 lbs AND USING A CHAINSAW'S ENGINE, KING PIZZACUTTER!
AND IN ANOTHER CORNER, WEIGHING AT LEAST A TON, THE GOD OF SAWMILLS!

Ronin didnt win this fight, Ginsu lost it FOR him

Ronin looks like he could be an effective bot if he were faster and had a flywheel insteand
KnuxMaster 4 months ago
Ginsu should work in a kitchen at a fancy, japanese restaurant.

Ronin may not be very effective, but you have to admit, it sure looks awesome.

Did anyone notice that Ginsu is BENDING??????
yahoozle123 2 years ago
@yahoozle123 It's not bending. More like sagging.

I remember seeing the 2nd incarnation of Ginsu on TV (and this one too briefly, but not the whole fight) and I thought it was a neat robot.
Come to think of it though, why did he use saw blades for wheels? And in the Super-Heavyweights of all classes?
nowootno 2 years ago
Probably to use it wheels as weapons, metal can't deflate or get torn like rubber can.
It's strategy was probably what it did here, use speed and it's weight to have it's sawblade wheels to cause damage.

when is someone going to post the demo rumble where it was Chinkilla vs all those little college robots?
davidjuchem 2 years ago
I remember that! Most of the robots died early, but Reactor put up a good fight.
mentalrectangle 2 years ago
Yeah, I know. I liked watching that one spin bot sending Chinkilla flying despite the huge weight difference.

Ginsu lost to Mechadon. How do you lose to Mechadon? Mechanical failure?
mentalrectangle 3 years ago
Ginsu did not have a match with Mechadon. Prompt Critical lost a match to Mechadon...and you guessed it....because of mechanical problems.

In 99, the event before season 1, Ginsu fought Mechadon and lost.
mentalrectangle 3 years ago
Yeah. Ginsu got knocked on its side and couldn't get back up. Mechadon, of course, was never not moving.

thats exactly what the introduction of the robots say.
Battlebotvideos 3 years ago
Lol. Ronins were actually "fallen" samurais.
Nagzash 3 years ago
no, they're samurai without a master.
rorcon 2 years ago
@spguardian wow Ronin has an undeserved repuation. he breaks down in so many fights he just kinda goes to sleep on the box floor....

Did Ginsu's driver really think that those saw wheels could do damage? And who did he beat to get to the quarterfinals?
DoughBoy319 3 years ago 2
Ginsu beat World Peace to get there.
MewtwoFan369 3 years ago
World Peace didn't show up for the fight so Ginsu got a bye.

Ginsu is pretty cool, but it doesn't have a very good record :(
