  • What happened to Roland? they used to make some of the best sounding gear on the planet. Now everything they make is just a plastic toy in comparison. Come on roland put some effort into your products and start releasing some cool sounding analogue gear again please.

  • I had one,

  • WOW!! That Machine is a Beast!!!

  • I found one at a recycling station for $10. It was rusty and full of leaves and dead bugs. I got it half working by replacing a couple of ICs that produced smoke the first time I turned it on, but something in the board that reads the keyboard was screwed beyond my limited skills to fix, it would play notes by itself and randomly portamento the pitch in huge atonal leaps, everything sounded like Satan playing Lucky Man. LOL. In the end I gave it away for parts to someone who needed the sliders.

  • The digital synths of today sound lame compared to these monsters

  • ******

  • The sexiest looking synth ever (in my opinion) And the sounds! Oh, their fatter and warmer than half the McDonald's burger fat poured onto the surface of the sun! Amazing video mate! One day...I will gain the synth into my collection...One day :)

  • Marko, you have to get a Jupiter 8!

  • absolutely stunning... this would scare the shit out of anyone, any synth .. vst kids would shit their little pants

  • @devmiles VST people would be scared of it for the fact it doesn't have MIDI, lol. Of course you can always add a MIDI interface to it, but that would be absolutely boring!

Oh yeah, analog is great. It reaches all sorts of frequencies that digital can't get to, due to the fact analog follows principles of infinity.

  • @LKASJKFJSDLLS Funny you'd say that, I thought the Jupiter-4 was very harsh and sharp; it's not a very warm synth once you compare it to the jupe 8 or my favourite juno 60.

The filter is waaaay more gritty than the aforementioned synths.

I like them all, though :)

  • This is the sound of Duran Durans first album and quite a bit of famous arpeggio on hungry like the wolf and Rio etc.

  • love the arpeggiator

  • the jupiter 4 has a very melancholic appealing sound, very thick too

  • The late 70's and early 80's synths sound the best. Stuff to day doesn't come near it. Vangelis!!

  • Sounds like the first two human league albums. I love it!!

  • @spotwheels

    thank you

  • @DJPeteJames

I play only what is in my mind for this moment. You must learn to feel the sounds and the music.

  • Do u know of any synths for the poor charities coz i'd really like one. That Jupiter sounds like it comes from Jupiter, it has souch a rich and kind of mysterious sound to it. I love it!!!

  • After a few years I finally found a cheap price for JUPITER-4 in mint condition working perfectly. With original silvermetal musicsheet stand, and original hard case, all excellent condition.

Thanks to your excellent video Retrosound, I do not want JP8 or JP6. I realized the best most interesting sound is JUPITER-4.

  • Great demo of a great synth !!! : )

  • Some great sounds,R

  • Nice and epic!

  • Офигенно !!!!

  • Great sounds from a great synth.

    Another fantastic demo. Excellent work

  • @synthjunk

thx a lot for your comment

    like your vids too!

  • If I was given the choice of any 4-voice analog synth ever made, this would be it for me. And as always, you never fail to hold my interest in synths until the videos end. Keep up the marvelous work.

  • @TeamNES1

    thank you

  • If I were to buy ans analog Poly synth for sound alone then I think this would be it.

    :-)

  • Great bank of old sounding here, I love the ghosty vibrato voice at 0:40. Sounds thick anyway, rich color. Are there some controls below the keyboard ? o___O strange stuff !

  • @AkatomieMusic

Below the keyboard are the memory section, chorus effect, tune , Arpeggiator and keyboard mode.

this keyboard from the year 1978 is one of the first polyphonic synths ever.

    thank you Kate

  • Dammit, another reason for me to be jealous of you...excellent post as always.

  • @randomeddie

    thank you :)

  • wow that suprised me how good the jp4 really is 10 out of 5 :)

  • @soundmanhaven1

:) yes the JP-4 is one of my absolute favs

  • Erstaunlich was in den 70ern schon produziert wurde, unnachahmlich gut .

Klingt einfach nur Fett. Danke fürs Uploaden :)

  • @MrSkywalker1000

    danke für den Kommentar :)

  • :34

    Man I could cry Marko

    Beautiful...

    Cheers

  • @RRKS69

    thank you :)

  • pure roland power!

  • Jam this with a Juno and you have yourself a cocktail!!!

  • This one or Juno 60, minor cords fantasic, I`m just a simple Swede.

  • @wpDM34

    thank you

  • Great great sound, an excellent video once again!

  • @jezuz12345

    thx a lot :)

  • Very cool RS :)

  • @kvfive

    thank you :)

  • Dude, great demo of the sound! Makes me wanna buy one of these too..

  • @drifter7508

    thank you

  • @drifter7508 Me too. We will probably have to fight over those who come out here ;)

@retrosound72 Thanks a lot for sharing.

  • What I'd give to have and to play with these masterpieces ...Thanks Retrosound for posting...Good melody !

  • @Nox979

    thank you :)

  • so good. god damn. 0:40 is the best

  • @Ancaja123

    thx :)

  • reminds me of an old yamaha polysynth I used to own :)) GREAT VID !!!

  • @8thumbs2fingers

    thank you

  • nice tunes again; Marco !

  • @031doolittle

    dankeschön :)

  • Yo retrosound, whats your favorite waveform to use on LFO? S&H is awesome when its sent to cutoff :P bloopy sounds!

  • @Getyourbodybeat242

the saw wave is my fav

  • @retrosound72 Cool :) I try to be as creative with synths as I can. Unfortunately I use VST's because I cant afford real ones :\ Im dying to have an MS-20 D:

  • @Getyourbodybeat242

creativity is more importantly than real instruments

  • @retrosound72

but real instruments promote the creativity

  • @yoshisuniverse

sometimes on ebay but in the moment a bit rare

  • great old sound!!!!!

  • @NELLOARA

    yes

    thx

  • sounds excellent!

  • @synthdood

    thx :)

  • @yoshisuniverse

    never ;)

  • @DJPeteJames

    ;)

  • Well, you did it again! Great demo. But what is the problem with the synchronisation of the video and audio? The video is too early, and the audio too late.

  • unfortunately is the video a little bit earlier than the audio.

    thank you

  • Der Synth hat einen echt starken Sound! :)

  • @OriginalBBQMaster

Ja, der hat eine enorme Power.

  • Den finde ich super! Auch das Auge hört bei diesem Synth mit ;)

  • @mummstylesound

Viele finden den JP-4 häßlich. Kann ich nicht verstehen. :)

  • @shingotamay

    thx :)

  • Excellent. 0:34 to 1:01 sounds like incidental music for late period Tom Baker Dr. Who. 10/10.

  • @jexplink

    thank you

yes indeed a bit like Dr Who

  • @ZeroCool1971

    dankeschön

  • great synth and amazing sound but video is out of sync with audio?

  • @enthusia492

    only a half second

  • Sounds amazing!!!! Great Demo

  • @Thalassa77

    thank you :)
