  • Dr. Dave, have you thought about going pro...??

  • @lohisc

No. That takes a lot of natural talent, a lot of dedicated time, and no other job, commitments, or responsibilities.

  • like the videos.........great info, and demonstration. Not that it matters, but I am just wondering what brand style of table is that you are playing on. Looks like a Brunswick........very similar to the one I want to buy.

  • @drtrotter74

Thanks. I'm glad you like my vids.

The table is an 8' Connelly.

  • You could park a car in those pockets.

Calling left/right side "English" sounds ridiculous.

  • I agree on both counts ... the pockets are huge, and "English" is ridiculous. I prefer "sidespin," but the term "English" is standard in most American pool publications.

  • @retepvosnul What's the point of your moronic comment?

  • @emarum To point out the pockets are large and that certain terminology is illogical. Does reading come hard to your entire family, or it it just you ?

  • @retepvosnul go eat another lemon.

  • @emarum poor comment.

  • You Rock Dr. Dave! I"ve learned so much by watching your videos...got a long way to go, but having fun! Thanks again!

  • I'm glad you like my stuff. Please help spread the word about my vids, my website, and my new 5-DVD VEPS instructional series.

    Cheers,

    Dr. Dave

  • Great video. VERY good examples. First video of yours I've seen. Cant wait to check out the rest. Definitely going to subscribe.

  • @GentlemenGetPaid Thanks. Check out my latest stuff from "Video Encyclopedia of Pool Shots (VEPS)." The new clips contain some really useful info.

Please help spread the word about my stuff,

    Dr. Dave

  • i think in a bar table u can't do a thing like this ..

theyr pretty much dirty and .. well .. seems like a tank walked over it xD

there u can see some ppl that use the cue as a baseball bat LOL so sad :| ..

  • First, let's assume you're using a cue with a tip that can apply English. The shot certainly can't be made without English. Let's also assume the table is level. I non-level table (with "roll off") could help or hurt with this shot.

Now, the amount of "action" you get off a rail will vary some from one table to the next, and this depends a lot on the cloth properties and the amount of humidity. However, this shot is possible on most tables I've tried it on, including lots of bar tables.

  • @sSouls Don't complain about the table you are playing on. If you were good it wouldn't matter.

  • @GentlemenGetPaid ehehe ur right

once in a THOUSAND shots i got a good result xD but realy the table help XD

=) coz in another place with a better surface i can do a draw with less power

  • i wanna see a game between dr dave and dr cue

  • Me too. I love to play people better than me. It helps elevate my game.

    Dr. Dave

  • haha

I would like to see that too. That would be an interesting match.

  • thanks Dr. Dave your video help me alot on my game

  • You're welcome. I'm glad you have found my stuff useful. FYI, I have a lot more resources on my website (see the link in the video description).

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave

  • vá a merda Dr. dave

  • very nice i try to explain this to my fellow pool league teammates, i try to tell them that some bank shots can only be made with the proper throw and spin transfer

  • Thanks. Hopefully, your teammates will believe you after they watch the video.

    Dr. Dave

  • So useful........very exactly

  • This dosent always work cos some rails are broken

  • The amount of ball throw and spin transfer also depends on ball conditions, and the amount of "turn" off the rail depends on both ball, cloth, and cushion conditions.

  • dr.dave iv been playing pool for awhile now won a couple of class d and c tournaments back home in the Philippines. over there most of the descent pool players learn by watching and playing other good pool players, learning new techniques and and polishing our game along the way.

  • and i never believed in learning techniques and improving ones game from a textbook or an instructional vid.. until i read your article on throwing balls... i swear i felt like a beginner again.. well explained and incredible knowledge of the game.. thnx

  • I'm glad you have found my stuff interesting and useful.

I bet most people would be better pool players if they could watch pool in the Philippines for a few years.

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave

  • very well demonstrated DrDave! I can execute this shot but have had never been able to describe it this easily!

  • Thanks.

    Dr. Dave

  • The cue ball that you used for this shot is smaller than the other balls ... which makes it easier and 99.9% chance of making it

  • Regardless of the exact size of the balls, everything in the video is still valid.

Even though I don't think this is important, I measured the balls with precision calipers anyway. Here are the results: Aramith measles ball: 2.250 inches Elephant black-stripe ball: 2.249 inches Elephant red-half ball: 2.253 inches

How and why do you think these minor size differences could effect the shot? Do you think I can even come close to spotting the balls with this accuracy?

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave

  • Great vid Dr. Dave. I use throw and spin transfer in my game all the time when I'm playing with my friends. Getting used to techniques like this has helped my game immensely. Keep it up.

  • Davide i never get bored watching your videos.... mwah

  • I see a pokeball!

  • lol

  • @Zangloose ha ha!!

  • your a king dave!!

can you show my how to massie 360?

  • If you want to see some awesome masse shots, do a Google search for Eric Yow.

    Dr. Dave

  • dr dave you are a beast. that was incredible, i didnt know you could transfer so much spin for that! next time for practice do you think you could tell us suggestions for setting up the balls on the table?

  • thx this very good advice! i'll subscribe

  • dr. d you are the man. keep it up.

  • Thanks.

    Happy Holidays,

    Dr. Dave

  • Thanks for making this game even funner.

Great video, consice, brief, and good hand and shot demonstrations.

  • You're welcome, and thank you.

    Dr. Dave

  • I have a couple of questions for you, Dr Dave: 1) When you aim your tip at 1/2 right English (9:00), do you use back-hand English to elimiate deflection (squirt) or do you aim your whole cue to 9 o'clock? 2) Is this clip mentioned anywhere in your book? Is it quite fasinating indeed.

    Thanks

  • My March '07 instructional article (on my website) discusses this shot in detail.

I do adjust my aim to compensate for squirt and swerve. BHE compensates only for squirt. See my recent series of articles (on my website) concerning squirt and swerve for more info.

  • dr dave, thank you very much for not being conceited and helping us with your knowledge. keep it up

  • nice vid, man!

    i really learned something today!

  • I'm glad you learned something. If you want to learn even more about this stuff, see the March '07 instructional article on my pool website, which features the shot.

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave
