I'd have to disagree with that. Other than increasing the displacement from 6.9-7.3 liters in 1988 and offering a factory turbo in 93&94 Ford didn't make any significant changes until the Powerstroke debuted in 1994. Even though they aren't hotrods, these old IDI's are still in service today and are great engines.
they're the greatest engines as long as they are serviced, whether powerstroke or IDI

DAMM good deal i payed 2500 for mine.. i got a chevy 6.2 i picked up ford 700 too. you got a STEAL

1987 was the best (and last) year of the 6.9. She's rough but that truck has potential. Nice that it's 4WD too!
