Earle is broke, busted, he snorted everything he ever made and now that he is broke he wants all of the tax payers to pay his way. It's not so much about what is in the video, it's more about him and his life. I know him, do you? He's a loser! He made millions, and pissed it all away. Addiction is a disease, he got busted, he did time in prison and now he's clean and sober; what's the problem? He continues to tour and record, "The Revolution Starts Now" won a Grammy award and he just came out with a tribute album to Townes Van Zandt; sounds like he's doing just fine living in Greenwich Village. Circuitous way I came about this mind - Galway Girl was on a commercial and I thought the voice sounded like Ryan Adams, googled it and found out it was Steve Earle, then after watching The Wire discovered after three series who he was and thought "I've heard that name..." and had to find out more. He came across really well, man's a credit.

Yes, Vietnam WAS a french colony at the end of 'the colonial era', and colonies and their colonizers typically butted heads. Would there have been a war between the French and the Chinese-backed Vietnamese to the level that eventually became "The Vietnam War"? Doubtful. And, as Steve points out, the entire population of the Western Hemisphere are "American", living in "America" either North or South. Postfundie, you mean "The United States of America", don't you?
