if yor still using the same 2wire modem "i am using the exact model right now" then you can download a program called TCP-Z and patch your ports and allow all the partial data flow to open up for full speeds
the 2wire modem limits your incoming sessions to 1024 (most standard routers have a low limit of 4096....)
so rite there that kills torrenting...
as far as this video goes...
for one your using wireless 2 feet from it.. the 2wire has a screaming powerful tuner... the signal is more then likly way to strong... or bouncing around
however the light you see is a failure to SYNC w/ the CABINET outside your home... meaning ur line is bad - probably due to not getting full sync
AT&t DSL is not bad because of the connection it self. Change your modem. I am not even kidding. The 2wire modem that comes by default fucking SUCKS. Buy a Actiontec GT724WGR and it will speed up instantly.
lol... IT IS AT&T!!! I HAVE IT CURRENTLY AND IT ALWAYS HAS PROBLEMS! I CAN'T SWITCH BECAUSE I HAVE NO OTHERS IN THE AREA FOR A LOWER COST! I'M SUPPOSED TO GET $15/Month bill w/ 1 yr. contract. But AT&T is trying to make me pay $40! WHAT A BUNCH OF FAGS! THEY ALWAYS MESS UP MY BILL!
I have a 2wire but on a completely different network and no issues, you could have a Line problem which could cause these problems, also do you have filters installed on your phone lines? and Utorrent is available for mac aswell. Your line just might be corroded from age, and gives out on stressing stuff, like torrenting get someone to take a look at that.
this is old, DSL is no longer available where I live and I can tell thats an old DSL modem by 2wire, now its all uverse and I download torrents all day with no problems
Get rid of that DSL Modem ! that is junk .mine had no speed and its not torrent friendly.I switched to a Netopia and its faster .my torrents work now too.
@0neofthem your retarded! <,< comcast blocks p2p sharing if your lucky you can do it somehow. but from all the videos I've seen this happening its on a mac..
@lilvoice32 at&t isnt the best internet.. if we had fios i would definetly switch but thats the only service thats not comcast.. i cant wait for the day google actually rolles out there fios for everyone to use that day i will cry for joy :)
@903harman Google to roll out Fios for everyone? muaahahaha... That would mean Google would have to buy At&t, Verizon, Comcast, Quest, Charter and a bunch of others so that the entire United States belonged to them...Then comes the unthinkably, insanely ludicrous amount of cash-ola to put fiber into each and every home in America...Oh yeah...then they'd have to pray to all the Gods that they get enough people to sign up...sounds like a pipe dream had a pipe dream
@Blackwido88 actually its not going to work like that. google wants to let the internet providers get in on there dark fibers across america and google will set the price.
@903harman Well, that still means that Fiber has to exist for them to roll it out for "everyone" While I think its absolutely possible for Google to lease these dark fibers, they can't do it for everybody. Not to mention, the central offices of all these phone companies would have to have high dollar servers/equipment to shell out the bandwidth that is expected from fiber. I worked for At&t, and I've been in the Co's. It aint happenin anytime soon.
@Blackwido88 google has been buying dark fiber for years, no one knew what it was for until they told us they wanted to change internet speeds in america.
@903harman Well that would be awesome, and I'd be on that train if it were in my neighborhood...But you still need to have fiber going all the way to each and every household. With AT&T, there is only fiber to the premise in a few "brand new" condo's as far as I know. Cable companies have a lot of fiber out there, but they still don't have it to your doorstep either...
@Blackwido88 true but cable still has a 200GB Cap that shit runs out really quick... its no point if you have fiber.and you have to think of the future, they can easily make it go trough the street and have make something to fix any problems or put it there easier..
its not like they have to dig 10feet just to do it. they could make like a system like telephone poles but 10 inches underground.
@903harman That sounds good on paper, but the reality is this...At&t lineman (27-30$ pr hour), contractors to dig the streets and rebury the cable (god knows what they charge), the city who wants a ton of money for the permits, splicing technicians ( 30-35$ pr hour), and then theres central office equipment (ASTRONOMICAL COST)...in the end, Google has to pray for a return. How many people will sign up for this? This dream of yours nearly bankrupt Verizon.
@Blackwido88 Lol Fuck verizon! who told them to dig up the street and yards like that!
i told you it would be much cheaper. just a small portion of the street and a very small hole to the house.and make it easily accessible if yo have the right key.
@903harman Its not that easy dude. Listen...I actually have experience working with burried cable and aerial as well. I've worked side by side with lineman and splicers alike. It is a monumental task to accomplish all of this in existing neighborhoods. Its time you got a job with the phone company where ever you live, so you can actually speak from experience.
we've had that issue as well , if the system is loaded for what say an entire movie , the Internet will start to drop or momentarily cut out we have it at 18 2 meg down and it still dose it so im wondering if its an issue with the copper to fiber or.. its that crappy coax line itself
at&t/bellsouth, comcast, bell (if your canadian, like me) all run by the same fucking bunch of people who are scratching the backs of obese media company CEO's who are whiny because some pirates robbed them of their donut and coffee and penthouse and solitaire-computer money! "but they need to feed their families! think of their children!" you mean those fat little spoiled brats who have no worries because they will inherit it all someday?
i had the same problem with comcast. well i dont really know how i fixed the issue, but i think i deleted utorrent and installed a newer version of utorrent.
AT&T is doing you a favor. Many people die, and property destroyed every year because of torrents — they're dangerous, and you should avoid them at all cost.
You are probably exceeding your available sessions in the NAT...plus, if you call us for tech support on that we will tell you to stop running bit torrents....
Its your router idiot. I am on ATT and use torrents just fine. Netgear sucks get a linksys or dlink router. I had 2 netgear routers die on me within a 1 year timeframe.
Its your router. It shuts down when there are to many incoming connections at one time. there has been problems like this for some games, when they open up the server browser the router would reset. It just doesn't allow that many incoming pings at one time.
Actually what your seeing a1cshowoff, is the router in their "gateway" the pps (packets per second) is to high for the on board micro cpu to process correctly, its not a cap or block, more of a hardware limitation. Though I suppose it serves the same function as a cap. AT&T is to blame, however if we are going to be technically correct, place the blame on AT&T's hardware.
No shit its because its DSL. Comcast dosn't cap anymore torrents work great now. If you are smart enough to do torrents U should now DSL dosnt carry the bandwidth for it. Come on man your makin all us nerds look bad.
i just dont understand wht the hell at&t cares about torrents or P2Ps anyways???
Plus their firewalls are wayyy over protective.. i going to go back to time warner soon....hint hint at&t fix yor stupid "ultra fast super duper fiberoptic" bs
Comcast doesnt shut mine off but they slow my connection so that it caps at around 150 download and 250 upload and you cant do anything else like browsing websites on any of the computers because it takes like almost a minute just to load a page( and this is supposedly a 16mb+ connection) . This is a serious issue they shouldn't be monitoring what the users are doing, they are here to serve us.
at&t is doing this to me. I can't download any large files and browse the internet at the same time because they disconnect me and I have to restart firefox. It's really fucking retarded. I can't wait until I get my Comcast business line.
what the fuck ! i have AT&T and this hasn't happened to me so far, but if it does some day then i'll cancel my service inmediatly and switch to another ISP.
Hope he's heard about Verizon's new caps $59 for 40GB. It's not wide spread but it will be soon enough. Go over and it's $1 a GB from there on up.
Comcast gives you 250GB at the moment but you only get one warning before they shut your service off. Sad thing is even at&t is testing caps and plans to charge those customers (roughly 15%) that use more bandwidth. Greed knows no bounds. Sucks I know.
Moral of the story? Stop stealing shit off the Internet...
This is surprising. Why would they take such an extreme measure if they want to steal customers from cable? And why would they care what type of program you are using to access the Internet? I had only heard of monthly download limits being imposed by some Internet providers. The concern supposedly is the bandwidth file sharing takes up with all the downloading of large files. I think bandwidth through the phone line is less than pure fiber optic cable company lines.
I have Charter and I download movies every day and softwares using Torrent but I never been disconnected because I use P2 Guardian. It blocks out ISP from knowing what you're doing or downloading off the internet.
aXXo is the best out there. normally when i'd download files from aXXo with 3000+ seeds, i could have gotten space chimps for example within 30-45 minutes at 600Kb/s. now, and for the past month now, i just get movie files at no faster than 100Kb/s, and that's the max before it falls down to 10 or 20Kb/s.
my modem doesn't click off or anything... the download speed is just slowed down.
on top of that, i get "no incoming connections..." while i have my modem opened with utorrent's port :(
yeah. open up your gui dude. start from there. if you dont know how to access it call the tech support. tell them to refresh line signals and ask for the ip of the router you have. it should solve your problem.. .ü
no but seriously, you have a 2wire 2701HG-B, go into the gui and change the firewall settings to allow the port you are using through
also, call AT&T and have them run a test on your line to see if you are on the brim of capacity for your line, you could have an issue with line quality..... good luck rofl...
That isn't throttling... throttling is when a ISP caps your speeds. For example, your connection isn't capped you'll be able to DL at 300kb/s..... capped your max would be like something very low.... like 30kb/s only. Something is wrong with your modem because that isn't throttling that is just your modem resetting itself. You might want to check the settings of it again or replace it.
An AT&T tech told me this is done in this version of modem/router. The same thing happens when we open several Safari sites at once using tabs but it did not occur with the old 2Wire tower this modem replaced. Replacing the modem would confirm this.
This is pretty goddamn annoying. Some of my torrents seem to avoid the throttling, somehow, but others last maybe 10 minutes before I lose connections to all peers, seeds and the tracker. I've noticed it the most with TPB torrents, which makes me wonder if they throttle based on some preset list of trackers.
My problem is that AT&T slows my bandwidth whenever I run a torrent. For example today, I started a torrent for Wolfenstein ET, which is free BTW, and throttle it to not use up my full bandwidth (1/4 of up and down). Sure enough my regular connection to the internet slowed down to 14.4K speeds from yesteryear.
Can I blame AT&T completely? Somewhat I can, because before when I did download a lot of torrents I wasn't throttled as bad as this with Charter Cable and the same computer.
I've yet to see mine disconnect, but torrents are heavily throttled. Problem is, ATT has such a monopoly now, there's not much competition to choose from! This is why we need net neutrality, but I fear it's too late. And just because pirates use torrents does not mean the use of torrents is exclusive to illegal activity. It's hard to get a politician to understand that, or even care.

Somewhat I can, because before when I did download a lot of torrents I wasn't throttled as bad as this with Charter Cable and the same computer.

maybe move a little further away from the modem, plus what speed are you using, what speed are the torrents running at?

I've yet to see mine disconnect, but torrents are heavily throttled. Problem is, ATT has such a monopoly now, there's not much competition to choose from! This is why we need net neutrality, but I fear it's too late. And just because pirates use torrents does not mean the use of torrents is exclusive to illegal activity. It's hard to get a politician to understand that, or even care.

Well, I jumped ship to Verizon FOIS yesterday. Best thing I've done.
