Steve White.... real decent guy would recommend any young drummer to check him out, not just his playing but his attitude! Good attitude guys and your half way there!
@mastersound66 he was very kind in his words to mapex even after he switched. I think he got a VERY good position at Premier. Something more than just an endorsing artist.
When they started to play the two drums the names appeared on the bottom left of the screen. The snare being played at 7:42 is called 'Blade' and the one next to it is called 'Machete'.
I've just ordered my first Black Panther (Premium Walnut - Brown Sugar Burst). I just hope it sounds as good as the last drum Craig (left in the video) plays. I love that sound. Rough and soulful. Steve White is one of the reasons I learnt to play drums. He created so many creative drum parts and fills. Changing Man - Paul Weller was the first I heard and I loved the simplicity of it's driving rhythm.
i have a question, hope that someone can help me on this:
i would like to have a snaredrum that kinda sounds like the one brann dailor used in 2004 (for sound, check out mastodon - iron tusk) but i havn't got the faintest idea what snare drum has that kinda sound.
@allmetaliswelcome I might be able to help,i recently bought a Mapex MPX birch 14" snare online,if tuned at a high pitch it really can sound like it! Jus my opinion, also a cheap snare drum for the quality of it!
ive got the brass cat, and i love it. you can keep it low and fat sounding for rock and metal but also xcan crank it up for a nice pop funk sound. the rimshots are fantastic too (:
Good video, but daaaaamn those drums are tuned high! I'd love to hear them tuned lower and fatter, I just think snares lose a lot of their character and power when cranked as tightly as those were. A good tuning for funk and fusion, but mostly useless for fat rock backbeats.
How many companies do you see out there that come up so fast with such good products at such great prices? none! only Mapex.
Mapex is definately setting the bar higher. Now when you go to a store and you hesitate between Sonor, Tama, Pearl you also see the Mapex kit and hesitate no more.

I met Craig the other day at college when he was doing a Roland demo. He really is AMAZING. Did a quick clinic with him, baffled my brain.

Same the Machete would be the ideal steel drum for me though I must admit the one next to it sounded good as well.
