In either decision, she dies. It depends upon HOW she dies (either by a bullet to the head or being ripped apart) that will factor into which ending you get. If Alex shoots her before the mechanism goes off, she's already dead when her body is ripped apart, so she won't feel that. So, assassin or torturer? You decide.

really hope nxt silent hill keeps all the techinical stuff (movement,fighting, etc) and goes back to basics with the story like SH2. this part was genius, really cant get over it

Well, sad as it is dude, would you rather put a bullet in her head and spare her the agony of being torn in half, or let her live and suffer it? This is the same as a momment in The Suffering, when you find a guard missing his legs, a full arm and half the other, flailing in pain; Alex actted out of genuine mercy. Better a painless bullet to the brain than torn limb from limb and left to rot while breathing. I'd rather be shot than endure what happened to her seconds later.
