  • survivalistboards your videos are one of the most interesting and informative (proffesional) videos on you-tube! great work

i liked your idea of a interview

  • Very nice, I'm happy to see you got an expert i would have hated to see bad information given out. 5 star!

  • i read somewhere that somting like 80% of deaths after a nuclear or desaster of major magnetude is small injuries !

being able to fix a wound is essantial to your survival (keep medical reference inside your home/with you )

  • This user has a bad habit of trash talking good people that put a lot of hard work into there videos plus he is a racist that doesn't like African Americans he says we are to lazy to find our paychecks that he hid in our work boots. Please join me by giving him a thumbs down and comment his page likewise.

  • Its todd not tall

  • Great vid. My wife is a BSN. She works on peads floor at a hospital. I am gonna show her this vid just to see what she doesn't know. Very good idea. Pls do more vids using ppl in different fields if possible.

  • VERY helpful video! THANKS!

  • Wow what a great video. Good job on gettin the Dr there bro.

  • Good video.

At a school I worked in I saw a kid with a green stick fracture of his fore arm. It was bent in a crazy shape!

  • that was good

  • brother your on to something with this, please continue the concept, expand. you know the topics. Lets hope the good doctor will help. we all need to understand how to protect our loved ones.

  • Thank you for your wonderful information.

  • so when he says to splint it to prevent it from moving. that means to prevent from moving from its present crooked position?

  • Yeah that was what I wondered too.

  • Brilliant & Helpfull...

  • Really helpful, thank you. I'd not known that about bones, that is great to know.

  • Excellent video. Doctor was very clear and informative. This video was a very good idea, Thank You.

  • Great video, I learned a few things i hope (touch wood (english phrase)) i never have to use

  • You asked great questions, and I appreciated how you parroted his answers. Hope you make more of these.

  • very informational thank you

  • In a survival situation, one may not have access to professional medical care. I would be good to address treatment options in such a scenario.

    Good video nonetheless, 5 stars.

  • man please understand thr trouble he must have gone through just to speak with the doctor and set this up for us man cmon just appreciate that he came back and started making videos for use viewers at all because i sure as hell am this is top notch stuff digest the basics and apply them to w/e situation you may be in.

  • Relax, I said it was a good video. It was very informative. Since this channel is about survivalism, it would make sense to also include features about self treatment in such a situation. At the Kevin's own pace of course.

  • Awesome video. Thanks for sharing this information!

  • This is an excellent video thank you for sharing this with us 5 stars and favourited.

  • Great vid, I actually liked that one. I would emplore anyone how is avidly in the outdoors to go to get first aid and cpr training. Full courses are available from the local red cross, as well as local fire departments.

  • awesome video! It would be great if you could do videos like this often, interviewing experts in various fields.

I would request, if you could, to try to orient some questions towards survival situations, like if there were no doctors readily available.

    Great video though!

  • what happens if the bone dies?

  • You will lose the ability to move that part of the body.

A body needs muscle AND bone to move, many people think it's only the muscles that make us mobile.

Also, the bone will stop storing minerals and also the bone will stop helping your body to make new bloodcells.

The bone will become a useless object inside your body.

  • Impressive!

  • Great idea for a video, and thanks to Dr. Pearson for sharing. I agree, if some catastrophe happened as it did with Katrina, and medical personnel were hampered in reaching those injured, survivors could help those around them until help could arrive. Nice post!!

  • ok, what if there is no doctor around?!?! HUH???

  • That was a great idea for a video. Many thanks to you and the doctor.

I can understand why doctors don't offer D.I.Y. advise for issues that really do require a doctor. But it would be nice to get advise about common, but serious, medical emergencies that people might have to face without a doctor available. Someday our complete ignorance about medicine could prove deadly for many of us. I think we could be trusted with a little more knowledge, God forbid we should need it.

    Thanks again.

  • I think it would have been better if it would have focused more on, what to do if this happens in the woods... trust me it happens and it hurts for a long time.

  • Oh my god I know the Doc.

  • WOW! That was an awesome video. It was absolutely professional and I'm very impressed. Thanks to you and the doc for making this for us.

  • Great video once again Kev! - Lespaul

  • It sounds like he calls him "Chris" at 0:16

I thought his name was Lynn

  • Looks like Doc is a hunter himself!

  • For a layman's guide (and I mean really straightforward) to medicine and first aid, I recommend "Where There Is No Doctor". It's written for inexperienced health care providers in the third world, but contains a wealth of knowledge for the medic in your survival group.

  • Thank you!

  • Cool video, very informative. He sounds like a doctor that I could actually trust.

  • Great stuff... i gatta get a book for this stuff... I got a cheap walmart firstaid kit but I know I need more.

  • Awesome video

  • Thank you Dr. Pearson and kev for the informational vid. :D

  • good job. valuable info

  • This was so very nice of Dr. Pearson to do this interview.

Thank you very much too for doing this interview very informative.

  • Amazing video of information,

Thanks to the doctor and yoruself.

    AMAZING INFO.....very practical.

    Hat tip!

  • If you have a truck seat cover...or sturdy tarp, you can also get a person to the truck\car by letting the person lay on it and pick up the cover or tarp. A man on each side should do...

They do that a lot when getting a person to an Ambulance. I unfortunately saw this many- many times with my Grand dad before he left me.

It's a good method. It kind of creates a sling for the body and distributes the weight more evenly than carrying.

    My 2 cents here... :-)

    Probably wrong...

  • Great! Very informative. I know way more than average on first aid, but I didn't think about a pillow or keeping the bone moist.

What this does tell me is that if you don't have a surgeon to reset the bone, especially in the case of a compound fracture, you are in a serious mess. I am still looking into how to set a mild bone fracture myself in extreme situations; like when help is not available for days or weeks.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • Always good to keep this stuff current!

    Good Job!

  • Five Stars!!

  • thanks for the 411

  • this is such a good idea.....first aid video series for common injuries in the field
