ah, that plane is good fun, im training on a 172, both analogue and Garmin G1000, wish that carenado made it with the glass cockpit as well. Do you know where I can get a good G1000 172 for fsx? thanks
@thestig747 ya so am I, and i agree that carenado should, but idk how far u are in your lessons but its better to learn in standard gauges so you should fly the standard gauge in the sim and the g1000 irl. Cus trust me a bit further down the line you will get the shot to fly other airplanes.
Nice Video. TPA @ SFZ is 1440 MSL. Turn crosswind @ 1140 MSL. Turn Downwind almost immediately after leveling the wings. Stay at around 80 KIAS. Abeam the touchdown point, add 1st notch and start descent. Turn base when runway is 45* off left side. Add next notch on base or, if only two notches of flaps, add last notch when turning final and established.
hi, i have been using flight simulator for more than 4 years, i left my job to go to be a pilot, i have seen a hundreds of flight simulator video also, but this is the first time i see a very high quality video, please till me what kind of pc specification you are using???? , and is there any additional soft wear ???? thank you so much.....
I noticed you have the same sound "pops" in your C172. I can recommend the TSS_Cessna_172_soundpak. It's free and can be found in the Avsim library. I use it and like it much better.
Okay well first off you usually don't even need flaps in a cessna if the wind is calm like in this video. And second you don't use altitude to tell when you turn to different legs. takeoff. 300 below pattern altitude turn crosswind. for downwind when you reach pattern altitude. turn base at a 45 degree angel between you and the runway. final. well you should be able to figure that out.
I've never flown before so I won't talk you into false facts about when to turn and so forth. All I do is take the experience learned from the simulator lesson and put it into effect whenever I fly around an airport.
I would say to turn on the crosswind leg about 30-45 seconds after take off. Then turn on the downwind leg when reaching pattern altitude. Turn on base when the end of the landing runway is at about 45 degrees behind your aircraft. Turn on final and intercept the glide slope.
I take flying lessons and this is what I use: Crosswind at 500 ft. AGL, Downwind at 700 ft. AGL, Base at a 45 degree angle to the numbers of the runway you are landing at. Hope this helps!
Hey, well the atc preferred way is to turn your crosswind when your 300ft below pattern altitude. You turn on downwind when you reach PA. Start descending at no more than 500fpm when you are abeam the numbers, and then 45 deg from the runway threshold you turn your base just like you said,
@guy014 generally, you turn crosswind at about 500-600 feet above ground level, then continue that till your about 1/4 mile from the field, just about, then turn base at a 45 degree angle with the runway threshold, unless told otherwise by ATC, then turn final based on your position to the extended centerline
the way we do it at our airport in real life. takeoff fly runway heading at 700ft AGL- turn crosswind at 1000ft AGL- leveal off, power at 2200, turn downwind when abeam your touchdown point, power 1500 flaps 10, start descending at 45 degrees of touchdown turn base on base, flaps 20 pitch for 75KIAS on final pitch for 70, use pitch for airspeed and power for altitude when you have the feild made, but before 200AGL, flaps full at 10ft power out start the flare we use a 172SP thoue
@FlyinTheNetherlands generally, you turn crosswind at about 500-600 feet above ground level, then continue that till your about 1/4 mile from the field, just about, then turn base at a 45 degree angle with the runway threshold, unless told otherwise by ATC, then turn final based on your position to the extended centerline
@FlyinTheNetherlands you are suposed to turn crosswind after you reach 600´AGL, the downwind leg, after crossing the end of the runway, start descend and wait 30 seconds, then turn base, and then final
supposed to stay withing gliding distance of the strip, video didnt show your legs clearly at all but from the look of it it seemed you were a bit to far, half the wingstrut is around what the cessna can float to.
Worth every penny. I enjoy every minute of flying it. However, there are 2 CDI's as opposed to the common VOR indicator and CDI. This plane is NOT IFR certified, at least, not in the sim. Hope this helps! :)
at 0:17 , you can see 3 lights directly below the throttle lever. There are more light switches behind the lever's knob which you can't exactly see in the video.
If you guys like GA videos, I'll continue to make more. I can't fly helicopters because I have Saitek's Yoke. I would need a cheap joystick if I'm to show videos with helis. Also, what aerobatics movie are you referring to?
I'd love to make more civil aircraft videos. Only problem is I need viewers to request what they want to see. I can easily make another PMDG 747-400 landing video, but it'll the third time I've done so. I'll be waiting on requests to know what you guys want.
I record using Fraps, the full version. It does slow down the gameplay but I use a few techniques which require slowing down the sim while recording and speeding the video back up in the editor. The frame rate is kept this way.
I would definitely recommend this Cessna 172N is you're into general aviation flying and like to get away from the large jets and just do some VFR flying. The sounds, the flight model,EVERYTHING is just about perfect with this plane.
FS9?! No way - this is awesome! I can't believe it :O. And that's good to hear. I have been trying to get some light aircraft VFR practice in :). It's allot more relaxing to just go for a quite flight over a scenic area.....Thanks for making the video :).
This scenery isn't the newest one out there so at the time (1 or 2 years ago), it was named the greatest scenery for FS9. Also, not everything can be modelled correctly because the sim was made back in 2003.
I am currently waiting to re-install FSX on a separate hard drive. My B-Day was Saturday, and I received some extra money. I plan to buy a new (third) HD, and some payware (London VFR X; Madeira X; Manhattan X, etc).
The best way to showoff that payware scenery is with low flying GA aircraft... Like the Car C172.
I forgot the mention that this was filmed on my brother's Dell XPS M1730 laptop. This video, the United 767 and the EasyJet A319 were filmed on it. Everything before that was on my computer with the specs I listed above.
Laptop specs:
Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz

Always a good idea to set the altimeter before flying.
