  • A massive full organ ensemble such as this really needs some heroic bright hi pressure TUBA stops 16 8 and 4 on at least 25'' or more to cap the sforzando or solo our on. Just my 2c tonal ideas.

  • Fred is a distinguished church organist unlike any other.

  • Love this rendition. I've got the Swann version in print and play it (with the interlude and final stanza) when I have played this hymn. The E major chord on "men" of, "let the a-men" is simply electric!

  • AWESOME

  • Fred is such a great organist and i really enjoy his way to play the organ. And this organ sounds really good :)

  • This is one PRIME example where the so-called music leader needs to just get out of the way and let the organ do its work. He is not helping at all!!!

Beautiful instrument and rendition of this great hymn.

  • @DoubleDipperBrian I agree, I was always taught that the organ leads the congregation in song. This just makes the guy waving his hands look important.

  • @OrganoAeternam LOL I couldn't agree more.

  • There is no one that plays hymns like Fred Swann ... what a blessing to be able to hear this. Thanks so much for sharing it!

  • This organ is actually 191 ranks and has one "Digital" rank, the 32' Open Wood. I was there at the dedication. It was scaled and voiced by Allen Van Zoran. Thank you for NOT playing the part where the minister of music brought out his "accordion" and played a duet with Fred. Heard recently that they hardly use it anymore. Gone "happy clappy". Was also told the trumpets (16's) were removed to make room for screens. (The church paid less than a million for it. Cheap even back then.)

  • @WAX6428 That is so disgusting. I am livid about the direction that our American churches have gone. Now, it's all about being entertained. They have gone completely Hollywood on the Lord. Jesus instructed us to go out into the world, but nowhere did he tell us to bring the world back into the church.

  • This was Rodgers' first all-pipe installation.

  • Christ's first miracle, even before his time as he told his Mother Mary, was to turn water into wine. I hardly think the wedding guests had been drinking Welch's grape juice. As with everything else, alcohol in moderation is no sin. Now getting drunk...well, that's a different matter. Do all things in moderation. The very pure tea totters I know won't drink unless they are 25 miles from their hometown.

  • Above all it is sad this instrument is not being used. Does anyone know if it is in

    playable condition?

  • I LOVE this arrangement, and love this organ, and LOVE Fred's playing of this hymn...one of my all-time favorite hymns. By chance is there a higher quality version of this?

  • That is a hell of an organ. Beautifully tuned and balanced.

  • This is in a class with "Ein' feste Burg". I adore this hymn. Thanks to Joachim Neander!!

  • bombarde at the start of the hymn, good thought, but would probably not go over well

  • Is that a hybrid (pipe & electronic) organ? I don't think Rodgers makes the actual pipes, do they?

  • @tempetiger This is an all pipe instrument.

  • @bombarde1701a To tempetiger's point, Rodgers is better known for their digital organs.

@trompettechamade1 @doothless @theusking @wacoinferno Gawddammit, why does a YouTube posting about a pipe organ have to turn into a Bible-battle-brawl about whether or not you will burn in hell for having a beer? Take it somewhere else!

  • Do you know the date of this performance? If it was in 1986, I was there!

  • Wonderful singing and playing. Just like God intended.

  • 2nd baptist hummm . Sounds like a good idea. But why not try an be first? your the people that say it is cool to knock back a few beers everyday as long as you repent the next. you know i could help you guys out a loy. yea realli like during football season you could take bets on the ganes in the parking lot of the church . a\nd on sunday all you wonderful pps could watch all of he games on many of your TV"S. & sundays you could have a big bbqfor all that place bets. you can make money

  • @wacoinferno Knocking back a few beers is not a sin. Nothing to repent of.

  • @theusking ok cool .what about a few cookies spiked with a bit of the wacky stuff? Can you ppl drink befor or after church on the same day? Or how bout during church? did Jesus drink beer? Would Jesus drink beer if he were on earth today?this is just your way to say its ok. if you say it llong enough then its ok.Read your Bible son.

  • @wacoinferno Give me one verse that says that ALL drinking is wrong. I'd also encourage you to read your Bible -- the first miracle Jesus did was to create 150 gallons of pure wine. If you take the stance that alcohol is bad, then you have to come to the conclusion that the Almighty came down to earth to create over 100 gallons of pure evil. Please consider this issue in all fairness and respond more coherently. :) Peace.

  • @wacoinferno As a Chistian who has been reading his Bible, the very Word of God, for decades, I have come across many verses against drunkenness, but none against drinking in moderation. In addition to our Lord turning water into wine, Paul the Apostle advised his disciple Timothy to drink "a little wine for your stomach's sake, anf for your frequent illnesses." Besides, the Holy Spirit inspired the entire Bible. Are you willing to say that Paul and two members of the Holy Trinity are wrong?
