There are a few audios floating around of Idina's live performances, particularly from San Francisco, that are BRILLIANT. She wasn't incompetent, she was just inconsistent vocally (imo, had DG been in C instead of Db, Idina would have fared much better).

This version: Kerry has an amazing voice! However, I think the rock version isn't as good for this song becuase it's all a bit too much. The guitars and all get overwhelming in the chorus where as Indina's was more simple eloquence.

Glee: Good. I'm a die-hard Gleek, and the song was great, but not perfect.

Indina: did it perfectly.

In my humble opinion as a fan, if you hear them live, Idina does tend to force the high notes. Both Kerry and Eden can belt them out better, and they even reach higher tones. I like Idina and she will always be the original Elphaba, but I am not a Wicked fan and I'm not an obsessed Idina fan, so I think my opinion can be more objective than other people who think she is the best singer in the universe. She is great, but she is not the best out there. But I think she is an amazing singer!

OK I knw people might hate me for saying this but I always feel like Kerry Ellis is holding back. It's like her voice is too safe, or sumthin. She never soounds powerful to me. Have you ever seen her live? I saw her 5 times in Wicked, including her last, and went to two of her Great British Songbook concerts, and she's got one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. It doesn't come off quite the same in recordings, but in person she's amazing.
