see this is Sampling at its finest! taking multiple records and putting stuff together to create a unique and different sound. Rather than jacking the whole sample and just loop with drums.
jel bought a sp 1200 years ago. he uses his mpc 2500 for live sets. the 1200 is more of a studio based drum machine. odd nosdam uses mpc 2000, sp 202, 303, and is a pro tools genius.
jel uses an mpc and odd uses a sp1200. sp1200's are kinda vintage and expensive. you can get an mpc2000 for 300 dollars or under (ive found 2). but to test things out, you can but a 16 pad midi controller and a cracked version of fruity loops or ableton. but if you find a cheap mpc, BUY IT
they're mutlitracking with their drum machines/samples through pro tools because with the Sp-1200 that they're using, they're limited to 10 seconds, more than 10 if sounds are recorded at a higher speed and slowed down.
Umm can't say that I have lol, but the name is familiar though, I'll look it up... But man, if I had to listen to only 5 hip hop songs for the rest of my life, "The Light" would be one of em'. Produced by the late great J Dilla, the scratched Bobby Caldwell hook... its an amazing song...

Oh yeah man, if they could collaborate and make a track this great in a single afternoon, think of an entire album.
I'd be satisfied with an EP
