I was upset when my dwarf chiclids died, They lasted about 4 months... Im not sure what even happened, just started looking sickly and didnt really seem to be anything i could do. All the other fish were fine.
@loemenace He just got a temporary itch! If they keep on doing that for extended periods of time it might be the Velvet or White Spot decease or some other parasite!
How big is this tank, it does seem to have an awful lot of fish, which will cause stress. Also the small silver/black fish at timeframe 1.43, is showing signs of illness. rubbing on plants are signs of Ich ( whitespot) and internal parasites, that will wipe your tank if left untreated. Add some aquarium salt and run the tank above 30 degrees for 2 weeks to help the fish get over it, but ensure high levels of airation as water with a higher temp has less o2. sorry, hopoe that helps.
Are Dwarf cichlids common in fish stores at all? I've never seen any before but would like to keep some soon. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
hey i have a question. how can you tell if your fish is a male or female ? i've been tryin to get my fish to breed for a while now and now im not sure whether there guys or girls. great tank btw !
@lipulipul Trigonostigma espei. Lovely fish, imo. Vey closely related to Hengel's and Harlequins, but the ones I've had grow to be a little bit smaller than the other two. :)
i wouldn't recommend pairing cichlids with any other fish. they will eat the other fishes fins or kill them. they can be very agressive toward eachother too.
Dwarf Cichlids normally no problem to have together with other species of fish, as long as the tank is big enough for all. It's all about territory, a big tank can have several pairs of cichlids, compared to a smaller one. Some dwarf cichlid males keeps a big territory that have several smaller female territories in it. Depends on the species..
Love the big leafed plants on the left side. What are they? Love the orange cichlid on the right. What kind is it? Have the cichlid ever bread in this tanK. What size is it?
cool fish, what song is that

@plecomeko I believe it's Trigonostigma espei.
Where I live, they're sometimes referred to as "Espe's rasbora". Hope that helps.

What are good tank mates for ciclids? What do you have in your tank?
TheGoddessNetworks 2 years ago
Any small to medium size fish would do, but I wouldn't add any other cichlids. I kept rasboras and tetras with mine,

i'm not sure of its scientific name but the 1:10 onwards fish is commonly called a checkerboard cichlid. not a loach of any kind.
subydude2 2 years ago
1:10 onwards - i'm pretty sure that is a loach, a dwarf loach i think

Don't know exactly which ones you mean but the broadleafed ones are Anubias sp.
The cichlid is Apistogramma viejita var. III.
The fish was filmed in different sized tanks from 50-500 liters!
