  • arent they supposed 2 b made of actual metal not springs?

  • Hahaha.(KIDDING)Man The Ball Came So Slow

  • OOooh :(...

  • was the helmet made of spring or something

  • I've been hit in the cheek bone when bowling and believe me it's not pleasant. Can't imagine how that poor bugger felt after that one!

  • WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE GRILL IF IT DOESN'T DO IT'S JOB I SEEN A FEW INJURIES WHEN THE BATSMEN HAD AN HELMET WITH A GRILL ON IT GOOCH USED TO BAT WITH NO GRILL ON HIS HELMET

  • headshot

  • LoooooooooooL

  • Top shot, mate.

  • good quality

  • fuk that!!!!!!!!

  • fuck you, u ugly , dirty, english cunt.

  • @Caspar97 whos an english cunt! and what nationality are you i wounder please reply

  • anderson the dentist

  • What if there was no grill on the helmet. Ball would have ended up in his throat.

  • that literaly just stoped on his face!!!

  • Ok cricket noob, what's a bail? Is that the thing that goes across the wickets.

  • did the ball break the grill too?

  • :D ROFLMAO

  • 2 quick 4 u fella

  • MISSED!

  • Bullseye

  • OMG. Why didn't the grill provide protection?

  • It did, if he didnt have the grill he would have been out cold ko'd! The grill has to give and flex or there could be the danger it would break and stab into the player.

  • good point, the grill must also bend and flex to dispurce the impact, and cause less pain. If it were completely solid the impact would land in the players neck and spine and that could cause a lot of injuries.

  • Ouuuch

  • if the tooth took off the bail wiould it of been out

  • I hadn't thought about that. But YES, he would be out :-)

Not that I believe it could knock a bail off.

  • yeah lol!

  • @oscar20994 yes he would be out lmao!

  • hahahhahahahaha

  • oooh shit !!!!!!.

  • He had to have reconstructive surgery after that, and it was only Jimmy Anderson bowling. Wouldn't much fancy Lillee and Thompson at Perth without a helmet if that's what it does when you have one on!

  • He's not as quick as the pacemen you mention, but Anderson is slippy: he regularly hits 90mph on seemingly honest speed guns.

  • That hurts.

  • Holy shit......what s scary is that this happened with the fukin helmet on!

They should make the grills out of carbon fibre.....spending a lil more on the players' safety is surely worth it.

  • yeah, if there was no helmet, would of been a really serious damage but i'm not disagreeing with your opinions

  • Thats why everybody....

    USE A M A S U R I helmet theyr way better then albions

  • cheaper than going to dentist

  • I remember wacthing that... ouch !

  • fkn painful...

  • ow, f*** me... think the normal speed is easier to watch

  • 0:11 boing boing boing

  • ouch.

  • ow...fuck

  • OUCH

  • what a dumbass. Flynn batted for New Zealand in the Test after this one!

  • lmao

    ahhaahhaha

    but he is alive m8

  • haha :)

  • I was playing cricket on Saturday for my local village team and I was bowling. I pitched it wide of off-stump and the batter went to swing at it, clipping it straight into his face. He wasnt wearing a helmet but wasnt hurt too badly becuase it only got him on his check.

When ive been batting though, ive been hit in the helmet quite alot of times and mine has actually got a bit of a twist in it where the ball hit it.

So it shows helmets are essensial.

  • im worried now. whenever i play cricket wearing a helmet, i feel more confident, knowing that my head (and face) will be ok.

  • go play cj from surrey then tell me how u like it

  • painful! i play cricket and i play half and duck half. there is what happens when u miss it!

helmet absorbs as much as it can but then it just wacks into your face ;(

check out my new video ;) thanks

  • basicly as im no taller than 5ft 4 i have learned to always play a bouncer i normally get 17/20 for 4 but theres always a risk, not in all cases but in some bouncers are unsportsman like but the is nothing u can do about than hit all the unsportsman like fags! to th boundry for 4..... im a pommie but i now dont like anderson as much even if he didnt mean it...... R.I.P Daniel Flynn's tooth lol

  • that was one awesome bouncer...not nice for flynn...but still a great bowl

  • Agreed. The bouncer is part of cricket. It's upto the batsman as to how he will play it, in this case Flynn chose his shot. The fact he missed and wore the ball to the face, tells me that this is not the way to play such a delivery :-)

  • The helmet manufacturers have SERIOUS questions to answer in my opinion. If the grill is not solid enough to withstand a projectile travelling at such pace without bending backwards and connecting heavily with the wearer's face then the design and materials of the helmet are simply not good enough. End of story.

Does anyone know which make of helmet Flynn was wearing? Terrible metaphorical and almost literal black eye for whichever brand it is.

  • how on earth are they going to make plastic not bent when it gets hit at 85 mph?

  • The helmet I have is an Albion C&D one from a few years back and the grill is metal and not plastic.

If the metal needs to be slightly more solid and slightly heavier then so be it. This is player safety at stake here - what happens if the grill bends upwards or breaks and goes into a player's eye?

It's cricket, not a blood sport. Player safety is paramount and the helmets can certainly be better than this with respect to their grills.

  • well he's wearing an albion too...

no need to be shitting urself though as i doubt ur likely to face 95mph deliveries and there's not alot that albion can do...they give the players the must useable and strong helmets possible

  • Really, ah ok well I have the old Albion model with the fabric layered helmet rather than the new one which has the hard plastic outer layer.

You're right, I won't be facing 90+ mph short-pitched bowling any time soon but I'm just thinking about those who will be... and this is coming from a bowler.

  • Bouncers are a great weapon and an integral part of cricket, but at the same time a batsman deserves to be wearing a protective helmet without the fear of getting his teeth smashed out through a heavy impact on the grill.

I refuse to believe that there is no way to make a more sturdy grill than the one here. Daniel Flynn can certainly feel aggrieved that he was let down by his helmet when he needed it most.

  • He wasnt wearing the helmet propery.. it was fastend on the chin properly.. and the grill was on the setting closest to his face, it should have been a couple of dials away, the girl is meant to bend

  • sorry... wasnt fastend

  • You have a valid point about player safety, but I think there is a limit on how good the helmets are made and to still be comftorble to play in.

  • Yes, I agree with that and what David Fulton said about his eye injury from 2003 in that you wouldn't want to see batsmen wearing a motorcycle-style helmet.

I just know that if I was Flynn I would feel very let down by the helmet. I believe that the manufacturers have grille lessons to learn this incident but I doubt anything will be done. Life goes on.

  • I Wouldnt feel let down by my helmet if it had just saved my face from being re-arranged. This actually makes me have more confidence in my own helmet, in that if you get one right in the grill the worst your going to get is a tooth knocked out.

  • i wasnt referring to the grill being plastic i meant that the actual shell is plastic and youll notice it squashes as the ball hits it, either way i think it did a pretty good job just imagine the damage it would have done it he wasnt wearing one?

  • bRo fuk all of u guys... fukn andersons a prick ... fukn how will he feel if fukn bond puts a ball bouncer straight into his fukn grill ... yea anderson will have a fucked up face ... fukn not a pretty bo anymore

  • ahahahaha, it has to be one of the funniest things i've seen, that poor ozzie cousin getting his teeth smashed out of his face. bring it on wankers.

  • He wasn't australian you fool, he's from New Zealand!

  • thats what i mean dude.. poor auzzie cousin.. sorry about that but just the way it is

  • yea u fukn retard get ur facts rite

  • get a life

  • how come you looked for it on youtube then? surely not just to deliver that little rightous speech

  • who sed owt about a car crash ?

  • I always find it amusing when someone takes the moral high ground after actively seeking out to find the very material they are uncomfortable with. It's not my fault that the average person can stomach viewing such material....doesn't mean we don't feel for him though. The reason why it was played so many times on TV is because people usually take time come to terms with what happened.

As for the car crash analogy, get a life and take your righteous speech somewhere else.

  • Sick - that you watched it anyway?

  • lol-lol-lol some of us missed watching this on friday and then when we found out you just have to see the thing for yourself before commenting on it and being able to discuss it so please don't post that comment again otherwise i'm going to have to get my boot turn it in your direction and stick it up your CANDY ASS! if you get what i mean!!!!

  • @emmetalk21 you my friend got offically raped

  • @emmetalk21 bahahaha, your comment is ridiculous and made me lol
