Hi, from Japan & N. America; and best regards and respect to your Pop. My 'Pop' is in most of the photos from 1:53-2:07. He was the aide to General Adachi- Commander of the Japanese 18th Army, whom you see sitting in the Jeep in the 1:53 frame. My Pop is the fellow next to Adachi in most of the photos in that sequence. That ceremony took place at the old airstrip in Wewak with an entire Aussie Regiment in full dress, led by Generals Robertson & Blakeney. End of the war! I'll PM you more info.

We were soldiers once .....and young PNG was Australian soil back then.

Thanks for posting these. My dad was there in 1944 with the American army and always spoke highly of the guys from Australia.
