  • youd be a beast at mw3.

  • science in the deep south

  • Hey man.... you would make a good sniper. You would also get PAID for it!

  • I get whipporwhills at my house too, they are awesome to just sit an listen to. so peaceful..

  • Comment removed

  • why does this remind of mythbusters? hmmmmmmmmmmmMMM!

  • aaaahhhh...the american way of life....its incredible how easy it is for u guyz to have weapons and shoot them too....right in ur back yard...im from england...even our POLICE dont have guns........ no no....SERIOUSLY.

  • @quadbassblaster Unfortunately, most of us can't shoot in our back yards. In my state for example, you have to own at least 20 acres before you can shoot on your own property. Parcels of land that size are kind of hard to come by in much of the country, and can be quite expensive, especially if you want to live there (and get electricity to them). However, out in the Western states, there are places where you can just pull off the side of the road and wring out your guns!

  • @notreallydaedalus i am a farmers son in minnesota. pastureland is good. i have plenty of land at my disposal however another problem is that the ground here is so flat that when i shoot my 300 win mag i have to make sure it hits a hill or it could go for ever. south dakota is damn perfect for my kind of shooting. acres on end of valleys

  • So whatever you do zombies dont go to alabama

  • I like you. You got a purty mouth

  • the one in the middle trolled

  • chuck Norris!

  • rednecks that are smart, my god this world is coming to an end

  • 0:56 EAT SCIENCE, MOTHER NATURE!!!!!1!!

  • lets make this science official with goggles. Goggles do make all science more official this is true

  • bam bam makes fire!!!!!

  • Good stuff...SUBSCRIBED!!!

  • Can you guys define; Ka-boomboom-juice fubar?

  • YOU do realize that your flame could set a fire to that trees and you'll get in trouble

  • Shooting for Science... Riiiiiiiiiiiiight

  • I swear I thought Ive seen this guy on Generation Kill.

  • You had me at guns. When you said rocket scientist I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

  • Alright I'm sold, after a few videos I subbed.

  • What happens in the chamber is a deflagration with gunpowder a low explosive. Now a detonation would be like the tannerite shot in my video on my Channel . The process would be deflagration pushing the bullet and the detonation would be on impact where you see a shockwave from a high explosive. Great vids btw

  • What do you get when you mix a redneck and a scientiest? destinws2 lol

  • afaik gunpowder deflagrates..

  • question is. how many of us are actually gonna use it enough to remember it. I'll probably forget as soon as i go into work tonight. lmao

  • Was that welding bit suppose to be copying mythbusters ?

  • Eat your heart out, Dimitri(FPSRussia)

  • But they really are not nearly as energetic as a typical explosive decomposition, which is an entirely different reaction. Fuel/oxidizer mixtures can be made to break the sound barrier by increasing confinement so they are forced to reach a higher pressure before the walls burst, whereas decompositions that I consider to be real detonations are hardly effected at all by confinement, and have a predictable rate of detonation that will occur as according to the density of the explosive itself.

  • There's actually a fair deal of dispute about what a detonation is compared to a deflagration. One point of view is that anything that expands faster than the rate of sound is a detonation, the view you present. The other point of view is that nothing should be considered a detonation unless it is an explosive decomposition of a molecule, not merely an oxidized fuel able to burn quickly enough to break the sound barrier. Some fuel and oxidizer combinations will break the threshold (continued)

  • Hooray! I love accidentally learning!

  • im going to have to show these videos to my teachers at school... maybe they will learn something.

  • i thought gun powder was a deflagration due to it not actually exploding when shot? help me get smarter destin

  • I thought knowledge was a bunch of lame stuff that took a lot of time to remember but when i came here it was AWESOME!!!

  • Lol

  • @IamDrRocktopus same here

  • Cool concept of videos. You called it a 'mag' and not a 'clip' and you ended having good trigger discipline.

    Subscription: ACHIEVED.

  • Nice to see some responsible gun handling, including the NSPs at the end.

  • vsause sent me here :D

  • slowmo guys dig??

  • YOUR AWESOME

  • "We don't have awesome accents and we don't have a lot of money". lol I assume you are referring to FPSRussia.

  • @BaneOfXistence4

    FPS who?

  • @destinws2 Russia !!!!! He Is A Weapon God Between People That Are Not In Army With Weapon Licence!

  • @destinws2 act like you dont know him :P

  • @destinws2 fpsrussia, look it up on youtube

  • @BaneOfXistence4 fpsrussia claims to not actually have that much money

  • @BaneOfXistence4 FPS Russia isn't acutely Russian... -.-

  • slomoguys sent me :D

  • southerners with guns and smarts, F___ yeah! -midwesterner, feeling the kinship.

  • I'M ALREADY FEELING EMPOWERED WITH KNOWLEDGE!!! Take my subscription and keep it!

  • @TheAnimeStop

(Embrases subscription, holds it aloft like a torch) I will not let you down kind sir.

  • @destinws2 :D my hero lol, wouldn't expect any less of a reply

  • i watched youtube for pretty petty things for a while now but it's nice to learn something new like this haha keep up the good work!

  • Is it a good thing that I've had trigger discipline drilled into my skull since the first time I've touched a gun?

  • where has this channel been all my life?

  • What about Defloration?

  • @destinws2 Where did you get your shirt?

  • fps america

  • is a dry ice bomb considered a detonation? or just a pop?

  • @Doctopie

Just a rapid dissipation of pressure

  • @destinws2

Because there's no oxidation/combustion reaction, right Sir?

  • 2:03 gun dick.

  • redneck FPS Russia :DD

  • wait I am not a firearm expert but if there's a detonation in the chamber won't the gun explode or at least be jammed

if it the bullet detonated you would lose your face and dick-nity

  • @lamestbiokinectic When you fire a round of ammunition, what happens is that the primer detonates, which ignites the powder and launches the projectile. The primer is not the bullet, and so no, the gun would not explode.

  • @TheModernCrusaderV if it detonates wouldnt the bullet explode the brass shards will just jam/break the chamber?( the primer tingy explodes causing a chain reaction)

anyways thank you and can u answer my last question it will be appreciated

  • @SuperNoodleCat The primer explodes, causing the gun powder to ignite.

  • very educational...I never new the right words to say but "let it burn"...lols...thanks...good luck on your channel!

  • are you a christian, wat pistol is that a judge?

  • @MrGregsw

    Ruger 357 revolver, and yes

  • @SuperNoodleCat

    The primer detonates

  • @destinws2 the gunpowder deflagrates however

  • Your like FPS Russia mixed with vsauce

  • i WANT one XD

  • FPS russia!

  • @AlcibatusTV

No. You'll notice my finger was off the trigger until I was ready to fire.

  • aaaha i got it!!! cool

  • alright dude to be truthful i thought that gun was automatic but i was wrong, but just imagine it as a auotmatic gun like shotting like a mechine gun =o that would be sick =)

  • What do you mean you don't have awesome accents!?

  • Was the accsent comment a stab at Fpsrussia? :P

  • Keep me posted, this is awesome.

  • Did you go to The U of A?

  • @Nicho2177

    Yep

  • @destinws2 Roll Tide

  • @destinws2 You went UA? (Un-Accounted) The military hasn't found you yet...?

  • Are you religious?

  • @Salger12

    Nope. I believe in Jesus.

  • FPS russia diss!!

  • So how do the gas tanks explode?

  • Thumbs up for goggles, as you say.

  • nice shotgon! great 4 mowen down zombies lol

  • haha thats really awesome! thanks for the video im actuly happy i learned that difference .

  • Comment removed

  • I love the night noises in the background :-)

  • fpsrussia would kick your ass

  • this is awesome

  • The Dragons Breath is more of a tracer round, and your incindiary rounds are more of a spotter round. What brand name do you use? I would love to google up a 12guage clip for my own!

  • This is great. Stumbled on your video when checking out Dragons Breath ammo on Google. Me and my family have always been into guns but as far as I know they all believe the ammo detonates in the barrel just as I did before this video. I've subscribed and wish you goodluck with your channel, it shows real promise.

  • have nice day

  • Thumbs up for trigger discipline

  • I have to say, your accents are pretty awesome. lol

  • As I understand it, a bullet does not create an explosion in the chamber. Instead it Deflagrates and the pressure created by this pushes the bullet out from the casing and out the gun's barrel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though

  • @Da0yster

You are correct. The primer detonates. I get alot of flack about that not being clear enough in this video. it was my first one in this genre so I've drastically changed the way I spell everything out now.

  • @destinws2 well, if you are going to try and "educate" people. it would be prudent to use your terms correctly and concisely.

  • how did you achieve that aperture?

  • @kaiman99919

Aperture on the camera? Switch camera to aperture priority then unscrew the lens, disconnecting the drive motor. Then switch over to video and it will meter for you.

  • @destinws2 tnks

  • the smart guy acting like a dumbass with the fake accent is far more entertaining to watch than a couple of dumbasses pretending to be smart.

  • @Duckyistrippin

I've decided to leave your comment here..... just for safe keeping.

  • @Duckyistrippin Ironic.

  • Only you can pervent forest fires. lol

  • you know u fail when u cant hit the target with a shotgun

  • @GRAFFIXTIGER Not necessarily... with a tightly choked shotgun firing 00 buck, the pattern can be pretty wide but there's not enough pellet density to cover a smaller target.

  • 7 people died in a deflagration.

  • If the reaction in your gun were a detonation, the barrel would be ripped apart ;-) Those are both deflagrations... detonation is pressure-moderated and occurs above the speed of sound in the energetic matertial. Deflagration is temperature moderated and occurs below the speed of sound.

You just want enough pressure to be generated in your gun, that's why the propellant is designed to deflagrate. Black Powder for example can't be driven to a detoantion, even if it gives a big boom ;-)

  • Shouldn't the series be called "Smarter Twice a Week" then?

  • @THall4509

The idea is that you start looking at the world differently and make yourself smarter every day.

  • Do you have a cite for the gunpowder detonating? Otherwise it seems like you've fallen into the typical fallacy of "if it goes bang, it's a detonation".

  • @bbrockert

Read the description. The primer detonates

  • @destinws2 Ha, I just had someone leave a comment on one of my videos who didn't see the text. I wish they didn't hide it by default.

Anyway, tagging the gun firing as a detonation is still a bit misleading. Showing an actual detonation and deflagration of the same material would make a better demo, though perhaps beyond your ability to set up.

I enjoyed the bullet high-speed video, nice work.

  • @bbrockert Since most rifle/shotgun rounds move at supersonic speeds, one can logically conclude that the explosion that propels the bullet is likewise supersonic. The speed of sound varies depending several factors, but the average speed of sound on a warm day is about 1150fps. Muzzle velocity on a 12 gauge shotgun is 1200-1300 fps.

  • @BlueRonin44 "Logically" only if you don't understand the speed of sound or how explosives work. A detonation is supersonic in the exploding medium. Whether or not it drives something beyond the speed of sound in air is completely irrelevant.

  • @bbrockert You're right. I have no idea what I'm talking about. I kept my reply brief because of the youtube character limit on replies. It's clear now that you are only interested trying to sound smart on the internet rather than actually learn something. Please resume stroking your own ego.

  • @BlueRonin44 Well, you got the first two sentences right, so your average accuracy is improving. Keep trying, and good luck!

  • Looking forward to the series! Not to geek out too much but the smokeless powder in the cartridge is oxidizing (deflagrating) rather than explosively decomposing (detonating). There is speculation that a light charge in a large chamber can cause the powder to detonate (so called 'light load detonation'), but these can damage the gun.

The primer, on the other hand, is detonating. And so would a half pound of Tannerite, if you should so equip yourselves. (Would LOVE to see that at 100k fps :)

  • @jcims Note to self, read the video description next time...thanks Dustin!

  • Destin I hope you & your family weren't affected by the tornados - is everything OK? (I hope Alabama is bigger than I think it is...)

  • @jsd23

Thank you very much for the kind words. Yes, Alabama is bigger than you think it is, but so was that storm. Thousands were effected. I am posting a video in a couple of days of some stuff we've been doing after the storm. Make sure you're subscribed and you'll see some of it first hand.

  • @destinws2 Cheers Destin. I have subscribed, but YouTube doesn't seem to like telling me when my subscriptors (?) have posted new videos in any comprehensive way. I'll keep checking though!

  • did u get my reply?

  • win for shooting things with a saiga 12

win for the classic line "lets make the science official, with GOGGLES"

and bonus win for not having a fake accent

  • What is that technique called that is being used to make the sign in the introduction? I need a sign done in the same manner, and I’d like to be able to duplicate it.

  • @chumgrinder25

    Welding

  • @destinws2 Really? It looked like he was rubbing some kind of reactive paste onto the metal, then heating it to etch intaglio letters underneath. It didn't look like a plain old cutting torch.

  • @chumgrinder25 The white letters were written with chalk (pause at 0:14). The welder then traced the chalk lines with a MIG welder. The MIG 'gun' (pause at 0:16) is hollow and has a thin welding wire being constantly fed from it. This wire feeds new metal into the welding process and creates a bead of metal just like a tube of white hot toothpaste. This bead is the bright purplish/whitish lines in the 'new' letters. The black on either side is the soot from the flux core of the weld wire.

  • what happened to your russian accent?

  • is that a G36 fore grip?

  • And he doesn't even have to pretends he's a dirty communist.

  • lets make this since offical with googles

  • You and your science words and trigger finger safety are not as strong as Mother Russia.

  • EXPLOSIVE ROUNDS HERE.

  • Epic! more!

  • Show details on the different shells. Featuring guns is one thing but the various shells that make them more effective is another.

  • nice gun!!!

  • @TheBarbersurgeon

Yeah, some guy hooked me up after a haircut one day.

  • Oh, and is that a SP101 with a Hogue Monogrip I see on your belt? I certainly carry the same thing every day!

Nice trigger discipline, by the way.

  • Woo hoo! I'm glad you found enough time out of your life as a super double top secret classified Rocket Scientist to do this twice a week. Knowledge is power.

By the way, nice coincidence that you're using a Saiga, and your fellow popular and entertaining YouTuber "Nutnfancy" is doing a run-and-gun test of the upcoming Kel-Tec KSG (a gun that you should check out), and today's "part 4" video has it tested alongside a Saiga! Your videos were right next to each other on my subscriptions.

  • Sweet!

  • I had some chili once that caused some serious deflagration!

  • @Knoptop That chili caused some serious capsaicin neuroreception and enteric inflammation, followed by some serious colorectal peristaltic gaseous emission.

  • Great video guys keep it up, looking forward to more.

  • Your the chicken head and the match bullet guy, and now you have a series on guns! Awesome!

You wouldn't be in Huntsville would you?

  • @captainzerocool He's in Alabama, and he's a Rocket Scientist. Of course he's in Huntsville! :)

  • I love how you can make such a complex concept easy to understand. Lovin the title "Smarter Every Day!" Keep up the good work you're the only YouTube channel I'm actually checking often to see for new stuff!

  • You have an accent. Its called American.

  • chuck norris shirt. lol.

  • I came here for chicken steadicam videos and got saiga-12 videos.

    I am so happy

  • Very cool concept, I'm looking forward to more!

  • Saga12... so awesome!

  • What happened to that video of you knocking down the ice?

  • Just what we need- geek tearing hell out of the wood.

    Goddamn Freudian compensation.

  • I am fully behind this (Especially behind you, Mr. Saiga!). Stand back! I'm going to demonstrate SCIENCE!

  • Haha, what a kickass idea, cant wait for the next episode :D

  • Awesome! Perhaps you could adopt a fake Russian accent (though you must admit that storming a "drug house" and shooting blow up dolls was pretty neat)...

  • @Hakaanu

Nah, the goal is to be educational and wholesome. I do find his stuff wildly entertaining. I just wish he didn't drop the F Bomb so much.

  • @destinws2

Guess I haven't though about that since I'm not a family man myself, but I can see how that could be problematic for you. You succeed in your goal my friend, I always enjoy when I have a new video from you in my subscriptions list!

  • Awesome! I feel smarter already!
