Positives: Great place for kids and parents who want to drop kids off at "Auntie's Beach House". Great outdoor shows for kids at night. Rooms are all new and come equipped with refrigerators (unlike Vegas casinos). Beach/lagoon is very peaceful and the water is calm (i.e., good for snorkeling). Plenty of opportunities to take photos with Mickie & Minnie. Very friendly staff. Great mini water park. Great experience overall.
Negatives: Only 2 restaurants onsite and both are pricey.

My daughter loves the Disney characters and gets to take a picture taking with them everyday..best vacation ever...
@IzzyIzzyToman My daughter is only 2 years old but she knows the disney characters from the "mickey mouse clubhouse". Your daughter will love the teen spa. My niece had an experience with the teen spa and she wants to go back. :)
its expensive cuz they just opened. what do you expect , they want to break even with the initial captital expenditures asap. unlike the other hotels that have been here so long like the royal hawaiian. and what better way to do that then with the mega rich people that sees 1,000$ as pennies to them :P , all i can say is Ihilani you got competition ^.^
The price is extrememly high for the locals with their ohana etc....I hope they will soon focus on that concern and find ways to make it affordable etc...otherwise there will be much to many broken-hearted parents and children that can only dream about it!! It is truely a beautiful place......"no child left behind".
I've practically lived on Ohau and food is not a problem. There are a lot of local places to eat and not have to worry about the price. But that's like every place you go for vacation. Only the tourist places are expensive!
@kycruisecrazy There's a plaza next to the parking lot structure with a couple of restaurants. The price is still higher than mainland but much, much cheaper than restaurants at Aulani or JW Marriott next door.

@hekkabenwah $500 a night is about as low as it's going to get. It is pricey but it's worth every penny if you have young kids.

I would love to visit but that place is crazy expensive. I randomly picked a Tue-Thur in Feb and it was over $1000 for 2 nights!!! That's nuts.
