  • Their is a web site called "Garage Hangover" or something like that. It's all garage band stuff from all over.Even had local Westchester bands Too.Shocked the hell outta me.!!!

  • Went to high school with Larry, Leslie Peter, Jerry and Roger. Saw the Vagrants with the Rascals and the Vanilla Fudge. Some of the happiest memories of my life.

  • If he was prettier he'd be right up front.

  • Please! Upload information about the band. My hobby is to rediscover all those bands from the 60s that didn´t "broke through". And, it´s a really music treasure. Listen for example to a band from Scandinavia called THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah" Really, really good with a bloody driving beat. And....the recordings were made 1965. Unbelievable!!!!

  • You can see Leslie's potential as a great guitarist at this age! I had seen them numerous times at The Action House in Long Beach, Long Island in the 60's. Nice post, thanks!

  • back when guitars were just guitars.......I shoulda kept my silvertone from 57 years ago.

  • is that a salami in leslies pants or is he just waving hi

  • how come that fat boy has such fast fingers?

  • Leslie soloing with a 12 string Danelectro? Oh my..

  • wtf is that ???an electric bouzouki...???

  • c 'est corky laing aux drums !

  • Is this from a movie or is it just an early music video?

  • @boiledrootbeer It's from a movie called "Disk-O-Tek Holiday." This and "Play It" by "The Rockin' Ramrods" are the ONLY rockers in the entire movie.

  • I can only say if guitar prowess were money ,The Great Fatsby would be the Madoff of the axe.We love you leslie !!!!!

  • Is that Felix on the bass?

  • peter sabatino is god

  • @vonstruck uh yeah uh sure.

  • The kid in the top right corner at :42 has on an awesome set of husky boy pants

  • ...you go Leslie

  • My god, those pants look tight enough to give him a wedgie and camel toe.

  • why are their guitars held so high????

  • @njlacrosse9

Most of the older bands played that way because of jazz guitar or classical training where you were sitting and playing. It wasn't until punk that the low strung guitar stance became popular. Most of the really good guitarists play at waist level or higher.

  • @youtubsteak Well...... the low slung guitar look was popular during the late 70's, early 80's punk scene; however guys like Jimmy Page were wearing their guitars really low way before then. During the early 60's British invasion period, many guitarists wore their guitars very high. Believe me, it was more of a style thing than a classical guitar position thing back then.

  • One GREAT song!!!

  • love it awesome garage.... this stuff spawned indie alterative music kids

  • yes, Jr. Fatsby

  • Top drawer garage rockin from the 60's!!!

  • this is as cool as fuck....how does he play that face melting solo with those fuckin sausage fingers.....legend

  • @wardup74 Actually his fingers are pretty long and skinny and out of proportion to the rest of his body. If you want to see sausage fingers, check out some of MY vids...LOLOL.

  • The Michelin Man... I love Leslie, one of the most influential guitarists

in Rock! and a real character.

  • Lead guitar, I love him.

  • where is the original drummer roger mansour

  • What's the name of this song? thanks

  • @esaloops Oh Those Eyes

  • what is this song called?

  • the Great adolescent Fatsby!

  • the Great adolescent Fatsby!

  • Actually, it's a Danelectro/Vinnie Bell 'Bellzouki' - w/12 strings.

    What a great vid!

  • legs

  • Great!

  • Thank you for that information, jone12a.

  • so which one is Leslie West? I love the 60s

  • @gk10002000 Leslie's the chubby one who does the brief guitar break at about 1:26.

  • @Arbeedubya its a bouzouki

  • grossartiger tanzstil

  • Leslie West is always awesome. That girl annoys me. what ever happened to mean songs like this? If you like this, check out The Ghost Tongue videos. Awesome New York rock and roll band.

  • Excellent!

  • Hilarious! No mistaking which one's Leslie. Strange to see him holding his guitar so high up. What guitar is that, anyway?

  • dance of the nerds

  • AAAAwesome logo and a kick ass guitar model

  • Well there was one fat nerdy kid that got laid.

  • That is a scream. I remember seeing The Vagrants

in Brooklyn, and on Long Island.

They had a gorges manager named Bobby.

If anyone knows what happened to him, please

    let me know.

    Thanks, and happy holidays.

  • Really Cool

  • Fat kids soloing are cool!

  • @withnielandi thats the brains of the operation

  • Leslie West starts soloing at 1:23

    with a close-up shot.

  • when I was a kid..... used to go see the totally awesome bill of Vagrants, Vanilla Fudge, Young Rascals - with differing opening acts like the Barbarians -- at the West Hempstead Arena... just total balls out rock 'n roll

  • Anything Leslie touches turns out brilliant!

  • Comment removed

  • Long Island! YEAH!!

  • Ireland's favourite, Cillian Murphy makes an appearance there at 0:35

  • I totally see the resemblance, man! The guy really does look a lot like Cillian Murphy.

  • What a great great song!

  • i bet Leslie West never thought he would put together the loudest rock and roll band in the world people went deaf from a Mountain concert Mississippi Queen hell yeah

  • Too cool..wasn't that Leslie's brother Steven too?

  • Youtubes freaking me out with all this rare sh!t. Leslie looks like hes 15 yrs old. Good song too!

  • Leslie was already a fat-boy at that time! And was wearing a blue pajama on stage.LOL

  • he was naturally big but he also packed on the pounds to avoid the draft

  • Go fuck yourself.

  • Why?

  • He packed on the pounds to avoid the draft? Where did you get that nonsense?

  • Where are the fucking amps?

  • it sounds like a violent femmes song

  • Hey Les, I'll bet you just love this one!

(are you sure that tap-dancer really

won cause it was "fixed") way back when?

  • Has anyone mentioned that the lead guitar player is both chubby and bears some resemblance to Leslie West?

  • That chubby dude looks like Leslie West to me.I'm talkin, about his face .

  • It is Leslie West.

  • This is not the Vagrants from the Action House Island Park N.Y. Not the group that Leslie Played in with his brother in 1967, 68 please if someone has the real Vagrants could you post it .Hey Leslie if you read this remember Hog manor .

  • Hi Michael...No it's not them, I remember Hog Manor That was my brother in law...Johnny, and Roger from the Vagrants played with them

  • Is it just me or is there something about that singer that reminds you of Michael Kelso. Kinda' how I would imagine Kelso to sing too.

  • lol i thought it was Kelso in the image on the video link.

  • Long live 60s garage!!!

  • Despite the "Walk Don't Run" riff, Leslie's guitar work does stand out as being very spirited.

You can see he had it even back then.

  • Damm" no wonder we only see leslie west for the

    solo"he's like 400 pounds...

  • i think the andre the giant look is great for rock and roll--rock on bellzouki dude

  • hes not " bellzouki dude". when u discuss him. use his godly name

  • whico12; the bellzouki player is Leslie West of Mountain. Are you perfect?

  • sweet!!

A morbidly obese Bellzouki player! THAT is a rarity, my friends.

  • Thanks, Great stuff!

  • Much love for The Vagrants! LAWN GUOOYLAN' pride.

  • Love the way Leslie comes forward to showcase his solo then steps right back up in his spot afterward. Isn't that a 12 string he's "playng"?

  • Is this garage rock?

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Oh Those Eyes.

  • The verse sounds like The Ventures... "Walk Don't Run".

  • yeah, it's the same chord progression.

  • garage rock at its best

  • this is AWESOME!

  • What movie is this from?

  • Cool man!

  • Sounds alot like driving stupid, Horror Asparagus Stories, still both 5 star garage

  • classic 1960s mindless teenage brain drain !!!

    Thanks for posting

  • where do people find these things, shapes of things to come, Silver Paper was my favorite

  • I thought this was pretty cool!

Now Leslie really looks Jewish here, but that's cool too.

  • This blows me away every time I watch it. these kids were something else.

  • What a classic! I have a 1967 issue of a magazine called Song Hits with an interview with the Vagrants. Leslie West tells the interviewer that he "hatched" his brother Larry.

  • Ah yes...Forest Hills High School...the Cue Club....Pep Mcguires...the Stratton...the '60's ...life was so sweet and seemingly a never ending journey. Suddenly the road has become a lot shorter.

  • Wow! What A Video! What A Find!! Awesome!!

  • Since I was the bass player and Les is my brother, he doesnt even want to look at himself because all he sees is how fat he was

  • @maxico90 hahaha he looks cool as hell in this video

  • MAN .... i've never seen this before! Thanks to whomever posted. Amazing .... actually not a bad tune, sort of 'punkish' in a nerdy way. Who would have EVER imagined that the humble, chubby guitar player with the simpleton lead break would end up being the MEGA star .... while the others probably ended up flipping burgers.

  • So very good.

Does anyone have them performing at a club

    called "The Action House".

    Thanks.

  • leslie owned this band

  • leslie west was born 2 be a fucking legend

  • This song came out on a 45 for the label Southern Sound. Always a big favorite!!

  • "That girl anoyyyyys me"!

  • Leslie West on Guitar is a great player, he inspired possible cream tracks and was told by Jimi Hendrix to be the best !! so you cant mock him for been the size he is.

  • yeah, hes amazing, hendrix was right! how did you know about that?

  • yeah, hes amazing, hendrix was right! how did you know about that?

  • I love movie scenes like this one...Groovy teens dancing to a band which has no amps, microphones, or a visible source of electricity!

  • I thought that was awierd shaped guitar until I realized it had a built in man boob holder.

  • This is from a movie called DISK-O-TEK HOLIDAY (a.k.a. JUST FOR YOU) 1966

    Good song!

  • These guys were great--where was I???

  • Wish the Vagrants came out with their version of Respect before Aretha,...the music industry would never have been the same if the Vagrants got the "respect" that they so richly deserved.

  • Amen to that! Love the flip side of the single(I love, love you) too.The drummer "taught" me how to play the drums, along with Carmine Appice etc.

  • yes i agree, only i think the vagrants were first. according to wikipedia it was a hit in the eastern US, then aretha's version came out and did a lot better. somehow i think the vagrants' version is my favorite, even though both otis was and aretha is an amazing singer.

  • oh man boob

  • They were great back in 1965 (Action House) Long Island, NY.

  • Amazing! But not the style of The Vagrants I remember. Saw them in a show with The Young Rascals, and Vanilla Fudge back in the day. Believe it or not, they blew the other two bands off the stage!

  • yes I,SAW SIMILAR shows ,They were Great: But nobody Blew THE RASCALS OFF STAGE : they were a first in Guitar heavy bands from L.I. N.Y. And one show I, had seen they [Vagrants] opened, along w/ Billy JOEL [unknown] and the Hassles along w/ Vanilla Fudge ..all these bands had real good Drummers especially The rascals noone came near Dino-I,knew Roger,Jon Small , CARMINE AND DINO.

  • I agree, DYNODRUM. Of all the great drummers of that era, Dino was the best. I idolized him at that time and would fantasize that Felix would announce that Dino was stuck in traffic and ask for a drummer in the audience who knew the show. Years later, my dream came true and I was the Rascals drummer for a period of 12 months.

  • I,guess you lived the dream we had .. hey-I was friends w/ a Drummer from N.Y, that played w/ Felix, in His first solo effort Rascals Band are you that dude , And how did you get that gig and when, w/ who in band ,I never heard this before ...PEACE..

  • I think around 1986-7, a friend of mine, Frank Pagano, was playing drums with Felix and The Rascals. He recommended me to replace him. I was THRILLED to be playing with Felix. The band was composed of Felix, Gene Cornish/Jimmie Vivino, Hal Gold, Scott Spray and myself ( Neil Capolongo ).

  • O.K- you were right before, my Friend Steve Candlen,.- It was around, yrs. 89 -91,so you from N.Y area ....was at a show and w/ Felix backstage -me & Steve became Friends , as we were Living near each other ...cool.

  • Leslie was a Guitar Great from way back i see.

  • COOL FUN

  • vaya joya de documento, autentico garage del bueno, muchas gracias.

  • ...speechless

  • I saw these guys at the "Scottish Center" in Brooklyn in the late 60's.

    Blew the place away!

  • Who would have believed at the time, that the guy playing guitar in the background would become a legend??

  • he may be in the background but you sure can't miss him

  • Oh jeez...this makes you remember Bo and the Weevils..music like this made Frank Zappa the musical anarchist he turned out to be. I bet those dudes were a blast to be around. As for all the spazoid dancers...feed 'em a RedBull or five and sign 'em up!!! Hootchiemama...

  • he look's like sausage's, in pale blue casing's.

  • West is playing a Coral Vinnie Bell "Bellzouki" 12 string.

  • Oh, those eyes! I love this song. And that girl dancing at 0:30...I wouldn't mind being at that party. What kind of weird guitar does Leslie have?

  • I see Diamond Dave dancing out front.

  • I went to Forest Hills High School in the '60's with the Vagrants. They all came from Forest Hills New York.Great memories...great time!!

  • I really like this song...

  • i wonder who makes the guitar leslie's playing..looks like dano pickups

  • play missippi queen lol

  • thanks for posting.never saw this b4

  • Gotta love that raucous Leslie West on guitar.. one of the ALL TIME best. That boy had guitar tone like no other... and he still does. Theres only one King of Tone.

  • holy shit he's young there. lol
