Excellent visualization. As someone who is new to this method this has made crystal clear what is going on and made the process a far more straightforward concept in my mind. Much appreciated.
Coming late to this, I'm disappointed by some of the comments. Yes, the audio could have been better but the info is in the accompanying text. The idea is terrific, I've spent a lot of time drift aligning and this is the most useful explanation of what actually happens, I've seen.
Thanks for this very clear description of the drift method, your video shows it very nicely. I have a goto mount but will need an EQ later for astrophotography. Oh and I can hear you fine, must be the home built speakers and valve amp plugged into the pc lol.
Is that your kitchen??

I'm sorry, but I couldn't stand anymore of this video after a couple of minutes because of the awful echo!

How long does this take to do? i men it takes a while for a star to drift in the sky.

@volvomannen79
If there was a full moon near the celestial equator, you'd see the moon move west by an angle equal to its diameter every 2 minutes.

@volvomannen79 not at higher magnification, even just 50x things drift out of view in about a minute

This is great! Only problem is some scopes have an inverse or upside down image..so "rising" too fast could actually be falling..!

@shaun365 True, you have to figure out which direction is up in your eyepiece! I usually just tap the tube.

Nice concept for teaching. I have a feeling you could also do some interesting things with pen lasers. Thank you!

This is helpful, thanks. Was trying out my new telescope without a clear view of polaris, and this will definitely help.

reduce distance of mic from mouth to improve audio. or overdub voice later in post production. i cant even bear to watch the full 4 minutes.
