Hey im a djambe player. I have a syrian mother of pearl darbeka too. youd like to call this drum a dumbek, darbeka, an arabic drum if your please. Hand position is too hard. Playing darbeka is a gentle thing, your kinda playing it similar to a djambe... that is, an "african drum". But if the point is to teach how to play djambe you should maybe use one. No ofense
Djambe is of the easyst percissions to play so it is not comparable the tec skills needed for derbouka. And to be honist we call a cat a cat and a dog a dog yes? So call a Derbouka a Derbouka and a Djambe a Djambe. Simplezzzzz!!!
It is wrong i been playing the drums for 14 years. u need to cuff hand a Lil more when u do it and hit more on the center. For your general information this is a Arabic drum no African .
