Pyrrhus victories, werent really Pyrrhic victories as we put meaning to the phrase today, his victories didnt cost his hole army that mutch casualties, but what Pyrrhus ment was that it cost him tomany Epirus officers and troops, so the casualties were to high for his small army he had come over with, Epirus didnt have a big population, so he couldent replenish the troops he lost. Look at the battle of Asculum, he killed 8000 romans and lost 3000, that is not a Pyrrhic victory at all.
can someone tell me if the skins of the roman troops on this mod are better looking than RTW, bc i cant stand the crimson red of the roman troops on RTW lollllllll
Have you guys tried approaching history channel ? They had a show they used RTW for showing how historical battles might have went. With your guys stuff it would become alot more accurate, and who knows you could get some money out of it for development :)
i love how shoguin 2 total was has a phyrric victory.....i hate getting those lol cause i remember winning by *!10 GUYS!* i must say those watching those last 10 guys kicking ass was badass lol
@mrh3tic Well I'm not going to waste my time on people who obviously didn't try this mod and come ranting about pretending they have. I know RTR is an enormous improvement on RTW, but everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, whether if it's trolling or not.
@MoRtALGoDTiTaN (cont'd) He was the most successful Greek commander against the Romans in history, despite taking heavy losses. He successfuly subdued Rome before campaigning in Sicily against Carthage. In the end, it was the Sicilian, not the Roman campaign that out did him. Pyrrhos was not defeated by Rome until he had lost much of his troops against Carthage and Sicilian insurgencies. Hannibal himself viewed Pyrrhos as the better commander and looked up to him.
@Trablo He was a great threat at the time. He possessed the best fighting force of all Europe around 280 BC. If not for the stubborn romans ( 'One more such victory...and I am undone', he could have captured the whole western mediterranean, without trouble.
my expression regarding 'without trouble' is maybe a little exagerated, but fact remains that many saw him as the new Alexander (be it of the Western Mediterranean.)
@RTRVII Phyrrus (or however you spell his name) is lame... he was too overconfident and his idiocy led his army to its inevitable slaughter against the Romans.
Phyrric victories... lol he was weak, he's the farthest from the "new" Alexander. Nice video by the way :) but you do know that not all soldiers in an army would have the same clothes/armor/sword/spear ect. they were all usually drawn from middle class soldiers( the bulk at least) so they couldn't have all looked the same.
@MoRtALGoDTiTaN Pyrrhos was far from a weak leader. He was incredibly strong and was far from overconfident. He achieved what none of the other successor generals could by conquering Macedon before his ally turned against him and took it. He went on to take Magna Graecia and nearly all of Sicily. He achieved what the Romans could not do for another 70 years and inflict serious defeats on Carthage to the point that they offered him generous peace terms.
@SulFuriiCxDzyR This is a very short answer, but Pyrrhus's losses were more severe due to the quality of the troops that were lost and problems that Pyrrhus had in securing reinforcements. His was a foreign army, whereas the Romans were fighting not that far from home.
actually most of us do it for the fun. But is surprising how many Total War players return from Empire Total War (2009) to our mod (which is based on RTW (2004)). That must tell something about the value of the mod/ replay value/ gameplay improvements.
I stopped playing empire to play this again. Empire has very little diversity in it. Units, buildings, empire building, its all the same essentially, but RTR manages to keep being fun for me.
