  • This is BS & a cash grab. If I have two lamps on in a room that produce only 20% light energy the remaining energy is not lost it is given off as heat which supplements or reduces the amount of time or frequency my furnace would operate, even if only by minutes. Another BS 'energy saving argument- like growing cvorn & ruffage removal to make ethanol but not factoring in the requirement to use more 'man made fertilizer to rejuvenate the soil.- fertilizer that is produced using oil.

  • u all dont need bulbs, get up at sunrise n go to bed AT sun down o either gater light bugs n store them on a glass jar <------------this is a more efficient way to get free ligth n yes my computer n Hpower run on solar power

  • @FoxIslandman sorry i have to correct myself on the last post.. anything thats below 40watts which is 20 watt light bulb will not be banned...incandescents will be available.

  • @FoxIslandman many countries around the world are banning bulbs but not here in the USA. congress is confusing a lot of ppl here. here in the US, they want more efficient lighting for the future. what ever bulb thats not efficient will go after 2014. there are already incandescent bulbs that are efficient enough to stay in the market such as HALOGENs. plus not all bulbs are being phased out. anything under 20watts, over 100watts 3 way, flood lights and colored bulbs are not being banned

  • Frederich the Great would execute these traitors in the name of the crown and the people!

  • I like Halogen light bulbs which have a good light quality, especially for my track lighting. I will never use LED light bulbs because they do NOT throw off enough light, are tinted blue, and generally too omni-directional. Sure, LEDs are good in flashlights but not in home lighting. I like CFLs (2700K Warm White) in my Bathroom vanity; they are just typical fluorescent tubes coiled tightly into a self-enclosed electronic ballast -nothing technologically special. I am about freedom of choice

  • Fool

  • @stickedU the only fool here is YOU. i can argue with u forever about this. Halogen bulbs are already efficient enough to stay on the market and they are here to stay. You just cant face the fact that most ppl like me hate cfls. deal with it cuz not everybody is a religious mental case like you and your green friends are. duno know about other countries but here in the US, incandescents are going to continue to be here whether u like it or not. U may wana get a box of kleenex now, you cry baby.

  • for the ones who are in favor of the ban, the government and your green friends wana FORCE cfls and leds cuz they know that MOST ppl LIKE ME, hate the quality of cfls and leds. I am amazed at the ppl who are against the halogen bulb cuz they STILL believe they're not good for the envrironment. As i've stated in my other posts, all you greenies are a bunch of religious mental cases. Hate to break it to you"GREENIES" but incandescents are not totally going away. Stick that in ur pipe n smoke it

  • @noreaga12326

Halogen is inferior. Not nearly as efficient as the CFL and wont last as long. Also the price is very high on the Halogen bulb. CFLs cost much less now which means you save at the checkout too. Also I will stick it to u that halogens are no longer american made. China and Mexico makes majority of them too now. I know that will make you depressed since you are a FOX news religious nut.

  • @stickedU amazing how you only believe what u wana believe and thats fine. Just for the record, i dont disrespect u for liking cfls or leds. you are entitled to like what u want. But i dont respect u for believing garbage about flourecents saving the planet. yes, cfls and leds will ALSO be the future lighting. Ur right about that. BUT incandescents will not go away 100%. Here in the US, there will be acceptions to the ban. Halogens are already here and theres nothing u can do about it.

  • @noreaga12326 Halogens are a better bulb than conventional bulbs but are too expensive for what you get and could be much more efficient . Once those two categories get better they will be very competitive with LEDs and CFLs.

  • @stickedU maybe so but with in time, the prices of halogens will go down. They even have Halogens now that are as much as 50% energy efficient and they last longer than the current bulbs. I have incandescent bulbs in a few of my lamps that hasnt burnt out in 3 years so not all of them have a short life time. another false saying i dont think there will be much compitition between halogens, cfls and LEDs because most ppl would agree that halogens give off nicer light than cfls or leds.

  • yes Germany needs to have more efficient bulbs to save energy with all the millions of muslims living off welfare to save more energy, finally when all the Germans have used up their birth control and died off, these new energy efficient long life bulbs will be around for years to sustain the muslims and negros for several generations !

  • so Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb first?

  • Thomas Edison was full of shit

  • What all these people dont realise is that incandescent lamps will never disappear , they will always be around. Even in 100 or 200 or even 500 years there will still be incandescent bulbs around. They wont be the main stream light source anymore of course but they will always be around for those people who like them. We dont use oil lamps as our main light source any more but you can still get oil lamps if you want them & they still have their uses. Same with incandescents in the future !

  • those old one will be forbidden in europe so we need the new ones ;)

  • @bigwoolleypenguin you just basically made my point for me. thats exactly what i was going to post. A lot of these people think that incandecents are going away 100% and that is NOT true at all.they are making halogen incandescents which looks EXACTLY the same as the ones we've seen for 100 years. The point is that incandescents will continue to be available. incandescents that are below 40 watts, above 100 watts, floods and appliance lights are not included in the ban.

  • What thay do not say is the energy saving light's have mercury in them..... and you cannot recycle certain parts.

  • LED's don't

  • Halogen Energy Savers I am happy with, but LEDs I have found problems with them overheating causing them to dim out over time...the only better LEDs have heat sinks or water cooled but that makes them cost even more....so Halogens are a form of incandescent which will be here to stay! I hope they can make them even lower wattage! I can't stand CFL, I know people and i saw on news some have actually went up in flames and had burnt down some peoples houses (only in US) due to bad design.

  • @jecwhiz I am with u. i hope and believe that the halogens will kick cfls and leds to the curb. i live in a building where they recently switched from using incandescents to compact flourecents a few weeks ago. i honestly hope that once these halogen incandescents hit the market, that most buildings will get rid of those ugly flourecents and put back the good old incandescents.

  • This is embarrassingly inept! This kind of propaganda BS needs to be flushed out! LED and OLED are the next stage of viable low cost, energy-saving, cost-efficient lighting. Halogen is EXPENSIVE, WASTEFUL, UNRELIABLE, (not to mention EXTREMELY PROFITABLE only for the company that makes them) and inefficient made today!

  • Amen!!

  • @RobToemik with all due respect, ur a moron. I have family members who work for GE and they told me, WITH PROOF that incandescents are not going away 100%. They are in the process of making energy efficient incandescents, whether u wana believe it or not, ITS HAPPENING. i am amazed that you and your green friends are brain washed into believing that cfls will prevent climate change and save the environment. if thats really what u believe, then u and ur green friends are religious nut cases.

  • @RobToemik just in case u didnt know, here are some FACTS: incandescents below 40 watts and above 100 watts, appliance lighting, rough service and incandescent floods are also NOT included in the ban. the other FACT is that there are places in ur house where incandecents are needed. cfls and leds DO NOT work in all places of ur home. So THINK b4 u make a bigger fool of urself than u already have. anyone who chooses to use nothing but cfls in their house has no taste. Thats just my opinion.

  • Energiesparlampen und Quecksilbervergiftung?

They should solve the mercury problem before enforcing such a mandate.

  • Up to 2012 then. Then goodbye incandescent light bulbs.
