  • I read only two books of him like 10 years ago, and I can still recall perfect details from the story. Only know I think about it, wow... that simply means he's an incredible writer. And I know nothing about the man, just those two books.

  • Legend!

  • I don't think Liz II tapping his shoulders would bring him any more honor than we do him. All the important lessons I have learned about life and human nature, I have learnt from the Discworld novels. Mr Pratchett, I loved your work when I read the Colour of Magic and have continued to be a devoted fan. Knighthood or not, you will always be my favorite author.

  • He is the true Man and he deserves it.

  • Terry, you are a comical and philosophical genius, you're amazing with the pen, and I love your books. you're the best Knight-author since Sir Aurthur Canon Doyle!

  • @lordxeras you don't even know what philosophy is

  • @255ad What makes you say that? I know very well what philosphy is.

  • @lordxeras i know what cat is it doesn't make me a vet, philosophy is a lot more complicated then the stuff Terry Pratchett says witch is fine he's not trying to do philosophy he's just giving his own views on god

  • @255ad *shrug* He does what I've known for many years to be philosophy. and what does this have to do with me? I know what philosophy is, but I'm not saying I'm a philosopher.

  • @lordxeras well what you think philosophy is, is wrong

  • @255ad You can barely form a coherent sentence, yet you are accusing someone of not understanding what philosophy is? Then you go and use logical fallacy to legitimize your argument, quite rightly pointed out by lordxeras. You sir, are an idiot.

  • @255ad (cont) looking back though I will admit that cat thing was pretty poor it's just that it sounded better then what I ended up putting anyway witch was basically “well your wrong then”

  • Terry, tu déchires, continue de nous faire vibrer

  • Such a shame that he has alzheimers I hope he goes on to write many more books. A true legend.

  • lol he looks so funny GO TERRY GO TERRY GOGOGO TERRY

  • It is about bloody time.

    Congratulations Sir Pratchett.

    Great speech.

  • Actually you would adress him as Sir Terry. Or his full name plus the title. Sir Terry Pratchett.

I leared this years ago when I became a fan of Sir Peter Ustinov. Thought I'd share my knowledge with you :-)

I agree with you: at last Sir Terry.

And a great speach about a serious topic. Love him and his work.

  • Actually you are right...but as in this modern age we adopted that using the last name as a sign of respect this also has become the case when using the title.

The queen herself for instance would indeed adress him as Sir Terry.

Most mere mortals (like me) would stick with Sir Pratchett.

  • That's very fascinating to learn. Since I#m not a UK citizen my information about such matters sometimes is a bit second hand.

Even though now I'm kind of used to Sir plus the first name I agree with you that the last name ist more respectful. When I first heared about the old way of saying it I even thought, that it was a little odd to shift to the firstname while adding a title of such respect. Thank you for letting me know :-)

  • @PuppyZwolle Don't like to correct you after so long but it's actually Sir Terry, not 'Sir Pratchett'. Knighthoods, like their female versions (damehoods), are always attached to the Christian name, not the surname. So, for example, Dame Helen Mirren is Dame Helen, not 'Dame Mirren'.

  • @Andy1982able Of course you are right.

  • I absolutely love Mr Pratchett and his novels. I have been reading them with joy for the last 25 years.

I felt so proud of him when i saw this news report today. Love him! Well done Sir Pratchett ... your work is adored!

  • He's nuts.... But I like him

  • erytrfbbgfffdggtrredbh66ulkuh,

  • How rude!

  • Limited vocabulary? At least be creative paramecium brain.

  • At least you tried. Kudos to you.

  • Now I liked that other one better. This one reeks of desperation. If you think you are better than you should do better.

You are giving haters a bad name.

  • BEST insult ever, congratulations sir.

  • He's right, the only way to slow down the disease (or even curing it) is to talk about it.

  • He deserves a knighthood :)
