I saw this same trio back Johnny Griffin a year before he died. Priceless concert, even though it was at the acoustically challenged Blue Note bar in NYC. I haven't met one person who likes that room, that's unfortunate cause so many greats continue to play there. Kenny called me out cause I was sitting in the front row and told me I looked like some cat he knew, then the whole band started to riff on me. I loved it! You can tell by every note they play that they know what time it is.Washington!

Awesome - I've seen this trio at the Vanguard and they are superlative. One of the great trios playing today if you like classic trio jazz. I highly recommend his album "Live at the Village Vanguard".

It was the last day of his 2 weeks consecutive performance in VV in 2004.

Right after the tight session at 9 pm, the second session from 11 pm was more relaxing yet ultimately improvising. I was the one of the chosen few who could rejoice the quintessence of jazz. It was the one of the happiest moment in my whole life.

This guy is one of most fantastic pianists you'll ever hear. So much feeling fused with so much technique. If only Bud Powell could have listened to this, I think he be in awe!!

The trio setting doesn't get any tighter than this! A classic tune from The Great American Songbook played with elegance and enormous style-to say nothing of its sheer velocity! Peter Washington's solo is a killer-especially that little triplet figure at the end!! Kenny's brushes are the best in jazz, for my money.

In my view, this is one of the great trios in all of jazz. Can't get enough. You guys make me glad I have ears.

I just happened up on the Bill Charlap Trio at the Village Vanguard a few yearsago and I've been a fan ever since. Will be coming up from Atlanta to see him again there in early November. My favorite album is "Written Under the Stars."
