It has a glossy finish as well as a rubberized finish.
The sides of the PixelSkin (where most people get their stuff stuck to their inner pocket lining) does have a slightly rubberized finish, but it's not very "sticky".
The edges on there are pretty tight - it's hard to say if bubbling will occur or not since we can't test every screen protector type out there. If you are already having bubbling issues with the screen protector right now with other accessories, that may be a indication you might want to re-seat the protector on the phone, or simply try another one if that option is available.
Yes and no. Although the skin would probably fit around the phone with a full body Zagg InvisibleShield - its not going to look nice or feel correct.
On the other hand, if you just have the screen protector (front screen only) from Zagg for the iPhone 4 - you shouldn't have any problems that we can tell.
We haven't tested it ourselves - but the difference between the 2 phones is the location of the vibration / mute switch and nothing else. Speck hasn't listed this case as compatible with the Verizon version unfortunately - but they have listed their Fitted Hard Shell cases as compatible.
In other words - this version shouldn't fit the Verizon one.
@DayDealOnDisplay On the apple website on this case it says "Fits all iPhone 4 models for both AT&T and Verizon." so I want to be 100% sure before I get mine because I am getting the verizon iphone tomorrow.
We'll have to see for ourselves once we get our own official model in. We try not to make claims on anything we haven't tested ourselves, that's why we edge on the side of caution. Let us know if it works out for you though, that way you can help others that may be in the same predicament.
This or the candyshell I like both of them but can't really choose one can someone help me pick and why? I don't mind flash problems an screen bubbling problems because I don't use them or often
Just throwing in our 2 cents here - we believe the PixelSkin HD for the iPhone 4 gained a lot of popularity during the "free replacement" period Apple was offering owners due to the antenna issues. If you had to go buy a case today, we would give the nod to the Candyshell vs the PixelSkin HD.
The PixelSkin HD is really a cover for someone who's looking to keep the iPhone 4 as low profile as possible. If that's not in your main list of priorities - the Candyshell is better
Not that we know of - the material is rigid but no where enough to flex corners on screen protectors or push them up. As long as the screen protector is centered and installed properly you should be fine.
No since it's not a snap on cover. Just make sure debris of any kind is cleaned from the inside - as small hardened dust particles or bits of sand may cause scratches.
Hey there, i'm sorry if you previously answered this question, but how easy / hard is the sleep button to use with this case? i bought a 30$ dollar case to last me till this one is shipped to my house and the case i purchased is REALLY difficult to press the sleep button.
It's not really that hard to press with the cover on given the relative size of the PixelSkinHD thickness. The "moldings" they make for the buttons make it easier to press - but it's nowhere near the tactile response of the official bumper case for example which has nice button moldings.
Hi there! Speck doesn't give an official word on what the material is made of, but what we can tell you that it isn't rubber or plastic. It's either a derivative of TPU (Thermoplastic-polyurethane) or hardened silicone. It's actually quite rigid when you get to touch it. If someone from Speck can chime in or someone knows for sure; feel free to let us know and your fellow curious tubers.
Hi there! Any full body skin guard for any phone has its drawbacks in throwing the fit of the cover off (remember manufacturers always make covers for the naked phone). You may try and use this cover with a Zaag Invisible Shield, but naturally we wouldn't recommend it.
Users who have already tried this combination hopefully can chime in!
@jin37uk That's kind of odd...is there not the possibility that you drop your phone in your own house? It seems kind of inconvenient to put it on and off whenever you leave your house. (Unless you have absolutely no life, in which case we've got a different situation.)
One thing on my mind is the cut-outs at the bottom for the speakers & dock connector... For the "Speck Fitted" it's just one big cut-out whereas here for the Pixel HD we've got these smaller holes...
I'm leaning more toward the Pixel HD, but I'd like to know what your opinion is regarding the sound quality difference between these 2 cases... Is it worse than for the Fitted case?
Hi there! Any case that has a large cut out on the bottom of the iPhone 4 will have a clearer sound out of the built in speakers.
Custom molded "cut outs" on cases where they have an individual hole for the speaker / microphone / dock connector all suffer from "tunnel syndrome". Anyone hearing you will have a slightly "muffled" effect as well as the sound coming out of the phone. If you really like using the built in speakers for any reason, always try to get the open one!
Hi there! We're not too sure of that at the moment since Apple's own statement says they may change program details and cases available at any time. Your best bet is to simply enroll in the program and see what is "currently" available.
Hi there! That's tough to say, since we have mentioned to other people that the PixelSkin HD is quite form fitting. We would say there is a possibility the skin might fit, but it's going to be very tight and the edges may curl up a bit. We would highly advise if you could see the skin in person and simply try it out. Otherwise the safe answer is "no", as in it's best to use the cover as is and at most with just a single thin screen protector.
Hi there! As we have mentioned in other responses - we actually never had any reception issues with our own iPhone 4. However, the principal behind the antenna issue is that your hand is blocking the antenna or causing some sort of "bridge" while holding the phone in a certain position. Since Apple's own official stance is that any cover will actually -help- reception issues, then there is no reason the PixelSkin HD would hinder it. We hope that helps!
hey there. i was wondering how you got to remove the lock screen? i saw that on your iphone 4, when you had the 'slide to unlock' screen come up, you had the icons behind.thanks
hey there. i was wondering how you got to remove the lock screen? i saw that on your iphone 4, when you had the 'slide to unlock' screen come up, you had the icons behind.thanks
Hi there! We found no issue with screen protectors / surface protectors in use with the PixelSkinHD as long as it was for the screen only. (Not using 2 protectors front and back for example)
Hi there! We mentioned below in another comment that it actually doesn't catch lint or dust at all and is very easy to clean thanks to the material it's made of. However the smooth surface does retain oils naturally coming from your hands - so cleaning it often should help keep down the "smudgy" appearance on the case.

Hi there! The material is very slick all around and feels very smooth, so dust isn't an issue with this case unlike it's sister case, the regular PixelSkin. Keep in mind it should be cleaned from time to time to remove excess skin oil and prevent it looking "smudgy".
Hi there! The Speck Fitted Case is an entirely different category than the PixelSkinHD, as it's a hard care vs a soft case. It's really apples and oranges to us.

This version of TPU is smooth and slick to the touch, so it won't attach to cloth, fiber or similar materials.
Typically high gloss, transparent TPU skins or cases have the opposite effect - sticking to virtually anything.

Hi there! The material is a rougher, hardened TPU. It doesn't have the "sticky" feel of silicone or rubber. Also the side where the "pixels" are shown is somewhat glossy and smooth. If you happen to come across this case at a store and get a feel of it, you could best describe it as "plastic" feeling more than silicone.
