THE UK GOVERNMENT KEEP PEDDLING RUMOURS ABOUT OWNERSHIP OF THE OIL REVENUES.

google 'fishing industry in scotland' then open top link 'fishing industry in Scotland wikipedia', Scroll halfway down to get to EEZ which stands for EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE.[not fishing zone] this shows UK territorial waters. it's an internationally agreed law for every country.[including England}
look at the UK sector and refer to a map showing the oil fields in the North Sea.
it's just selfish. if scotland became independent investment into the UK would definitley fall and many jobs across the UK, NOT JUST ENGLAND would be lost. Why are the scottish so selfish that they NEED to be independent? we don't TAKE your oil, we share it with you, you need to stop being immature and deal with the situation. my god move on. I hope that if you become indepedent we can build a new Gaza strip barrier between us, so that your unemployed masses dont try and take our jobs.
@BenBezpark DO YOU THINK THE PEOPLE OF A COUNTRY SHOULD NOT HAVE THE CHOICE IN THE WAY THEY WANT IT RUN!! nearly every person in scotland votes for SNP or Lib dems in the election and what? were still being fcuking run by those money grabbing tory bastards. how is that democratic.or even fair for that matter. 'we dont take your oil we share it with you' (how frightfully decent of you old chap what what) wrong!!! westminster takes the MASSIVE revenue and gives scotland pittence in return.
I think that with 2014 being the 700'th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn and them cleverly switching to everyone singing "Flower of Scotland" from "Scotland the Brave" they can whip up enough emotional nationalistic fever to get a yes vote.
Do you know if the SNP plan to release any kind of constitution? I really want to know if the new Scotland will be a secular nation. It seems impossible they will be Christian. Will it be separation of church and state?
All the above claims are true and genuine. However, what's true for Scotland is far from unique among small nations. Breaking away from the UK will render Scotland an economic wasteland. This 'Dreamscape' of an independant Scotland is just that: a dream that might turn out to be a nightmare reality when the English just lose interest in what happens "Up north". Being on your own is a lonely place to be. Be careful what you wish for...
@Basicallybenign Becoming independent from the UK will give Scotland the powers and privilages to form new relationships with our nordic neighbours. We will trade with our neighbours, including England. Instead, the Government in London will need to BUY our Whisky, Oil, water instead of just taking it and selling it for themselves. Becoming independent and joining the EU and taking part in the UN is hardly lonely.
@glasgow1234 The point I was trying to make was that surely you will be lost in the crowd. Scotland wants to build newer and better relationships presumably, with your Nordic neighbours: that's fine and dandy, but it in no way guarantees economic success. Norway depends almost exclusively on her energy exports. An independent England will then be free to buy her energy needs from the spot market rather than being obliged to consume expensive Brent crude. I can see only gloom ahead.
@Basicallybenign staying under westminster rule will not guarantee economic success either. however (and this has been the case since the 70's) scotland becoming independent would mean westminster have a huge shortage in cash they milk from scotland at every turn. like NS oil revenue, and crown estate charges. how dave cameron SHOULD of reacted was as follows 'PLEASE SCOTLAND STAY IN THE UK BECAUSE IF YOU LEAVE IT WILL BE DEVASTATING TO OUR ECONOMY', 'I PROMISE NOT TO BE A C**T ANYMORE' LOL

The European Union (EU) economy consists of a single market and the EU is represented as a unified entity in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
That means you sorry.
