  • We forge ahead seeking glory

Yet the journey has just begun

  • Sounds like megadeth

  • @jsamuels90 Mustaine can't sing for shit.

  • the odyssey is the best symphony x song!!!!!!

  • music suits perfectly to lyrics. or vice versa perhaps? but perfectly indeed.

they made epic story to be heard through epic music!

  • Everyone stop bitchingggg...DT SX and there rest of the bands that you are all comparing are all amazing in there own right and way,,extremely talented musicians that have been busting there asses of to make amazing music for everyone, why cant people just appreciate music more instead of making autopsy on the fuckign artists. for fucks sakes....

  • Last time I checked my iPod's listening history this song was at top with 160 plays. I just can't get enough of this divine song.

  • wow, the audio quality sucks ass

  • probably the best song of the decade.

it's so good i just go crazy listening to it

  • @Pacifica17 i know the feeling.

  • by far my second favourite band of all time!

  • Odysseus would play this non-stop on the journey to make it more epic

  • epic like the odyssey itself

  • i wish you kids would shutup about whether you think DT or SX are better, get over it and enjoy what youre listening to for f**k sake.

  • I like SX's melodies better than DT's but that's no reason to call someone who disagrees a dumbass lol

I like DWOT more than this song, but it's still one of the greatest epics ever written

  • Weird.

The other day I was thinking it would be cool to make an album around the Odyssey. I just found out about this album today.

    Darn it....

  • you can still do it I mena artists right about stuff and then other artists rite songs sbout the same thing dont worry

  • 4:46 - 5:39 great vocals. those chords Allen sings are godly

  • Althought Symphony X might overdo these songs a bit. They ARE still prog metal, but unlike dream theater, they actually have melody. (I still love DT)

Dream Theater + Symphony X = PROG GODS

  • the melody thing that u mention is because Symphony X call themselves "Progresive Power", Dream Theater just "Progresive". And, yes, they both are gods.

  • Well, saying Dream Theater doesn't have meody is like saying Iron Maiden doesn't have a vocalist

  • Dream Theater has amazing melodies, even better than Symphony X, don't get me wrong i love both bands. If you say DT has no melody, then it's obvious to me you havn't heard much of they're music

  • Your right man DT does have some amazing melodies.

  • Symphony x's melodies are way better than DT you dumbass

  • well i respectfully disagree

  • I think i got that by your first comment, yeah DT is really good but incomparable to symphony X

  • i like their rough songs more

  • i like these guys alot but i feel like they are trying to hard to be prog metal. also i think they have a hard time keeping it soft. they try to achieve that multiple times throught this song and they never truly do it. very good song though. 4.5/5

  • like they are trying to hard to be prog? if any band could be classified that it'd be dream theater with their 42 minute long song. dream theater is my favourite band, but everyone knows it's true.

  • @BloodReverence yea. dream theater is my fav band too. they actually have a 56 minute long song too. but i feel like these guys are trying too hard to be like dream theater but more metal.

  • They don't have a 56 minute long song unless it's live. I have all their music and none of their recorded songs are past the 42 minute long song epic of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

Either way, if they were trying to be Dream Theater, they'd have all their songs like this. They have their own style, you should try listening to their other songs.

  • yea they do. its called the 12 step suite. Glass Prison, This Dying Soul, Root of All Evil, Repentence, and The Shattered Fortress.

  • That's still 5 different songs. They are all based on the same thing but they aren't a continous song bro.

  • i suppose. i count it as one song.

  • it kind of is, because one song begins where the other ends

  • Then you'd have to say the same of BTBAM's "Colors" disc.

  • Note to poster- you have broken the song perfectly into three parts as three movements- well done

This one is Best/favorite part IMHO... I remember a time when there were people into speed, thrash, melodic and other forms of metal. People werent into grind because of the voacals- symphony x was one of those that bridged the gap.

1:20 to 3:30 - my favorite part and you can sense some of the grind/death metal riffing within that segment.

    Symphony X rocks- 5 stars-thanks for posting

  • how about enjoy this Godly music sober you fools...Drugs just make you appreciate the song less because you cant even interpret the song properly unless you play an instrument or sing...this song is a masterpeice.

  • so true....

  • i agree with you...but alot of this kind of music can trigger amazing things with your recording and playing sometimes when ur high...lol..

symphony x dream theater opeth and between the buried and me are all some bands that do this...and of course tool and NIN....but i like ur take on this

  • who is the Daughter of the Sun?

  • Circe

  • does anyone listen to this stoned?

  • Yo I am waking and baking right now. Symphony x some the best neoclassical metal ever

  • oh yes.

  • try on shrooms =D

  • try listing to this and dream theaters a change of seasons on shrooms it makes it more epic then it already is. i know that seems impossible but just try it =D

  • @anotherholywar I did it more than 5 years ago, fuckin awesome.

  • ??? yeah and Mercury used hard voices as Allen,of course, then he was the hardest gaylord of this time, haha

  • idk but the part that starts at 5:16 reminds me of toto-hold the line lmao

  • This song kicks so much ass... I've kind of shied away from prog and prog rock but this song still gets me.

  • from 1:21 romeo plays like crazy!!!I love his style.

  • you fucking suck buddy

  • LOL , the snare drum sounds like kid set.

  • Its probably the recording, the way this sounds makes it sound like it was ripped a few times then uploaded a few times then he downloaded it but if you heard a few songs from the album The Divine Wings of Tragedy then you wouldn't say that.

  • says pee hole mc gee

    lol...

  • BTW, the quality is pretty shitty here

  • Part iii, The Eye, is my favorite. They're all great though.

  • What if the 2 amazing bands Dreamtheater and Symphony x will combined and will be directed by The Master himself JON OLIVA

  • Well, for me, if Jon Oliva is in, the rest doesn't matter. He is the man.

  • Just a heads up to people, I will not update this account anymore. All songs will be on my main account RelentlessEwok

  • This is the best song i've ever heard.

  • very nice too! all parts are the best XD

    good work

  • did Michael Romeo write this whole song? becuz u wrote [music - Romeo].

  • copy and pasted from a website

I assume it was him and Russell Allen. Most likely Romeo based off of his solo album.

  • I think Micheal Romeo directed the complete song (except the Circe part with Rusell) , because everything is very Romeo style

  • Everything was written by Romeo but 2 parts. Journey to Ithaca was cowritten by Allen. The Fate of the Suitors / Champion of Ithaca was cowritten with Lepond

  • yup :)
