@sss7773 In 1939 Finland was NOT allied with Germany, USSR was. The fascist party (IKL) was forbidden. Look at the equipment of Finns - they were not even prepared to defense. Check historical facts and then we might have something to talk about. Finland did not attack Leningrad even in 1941-43, when Stalin had in practice forced us to the German side.

I think we should remember both sides in equal matter.. every christmas I take a candle to the local graveyard where they have a monument built to remember the soviet soldiers who died around here during WW2. You shouldn't blame the soldiers for coming to our country and trying to take it away from us. They were only following orders, just like every soldier does. Don't blame the soldier who had a family just like your grandfather had. Blame the government who started the war. Not the pawn.

actually.. Sweden is better trained and equipped than we could ever be. Especially now that they are going for a standing army which means that their active military will consist of paid professionals that will remain in the military and hone their skills untill they quit, are discharged or get a pension. Draftee armies can never match the training of a standing professional army, and the finnish military budget is quite small when compared to sweden.

Finns were outnumbered and the fact is that due to mistakes in the soviet military command, we were able to hold our ground long enough not to get entirely wiped out. The first soviet troops were more or less ukrainian conscripts who weren't as well equipped and supplied as russian units. The fact is that the winter during winter war wasn't as horrible as they say, and soviets started to get their act together as winter went on. We were lucky.
