Would you be able to take a pre-existing knife such as a Benchmade 940 rift and duplicate there spring assist then apply it to the knife?

You cant make a exact copy without paying benchmade they can sue you for it.

Yes I understand that but if benchmade has a patent on that exact spring assist nobody can use it without paying benchmade for the rights for it.
