  • Thanks man, that really, really helped. Have loved this song since it first came out, and even after 35 years of playing you can still learn something. See ya !!!!

  • thx man old time fav now i can jam it partys... yeeehaaaa lol

  • props for trying to work a little "theory" into the tutorial. nice to see someone not only nail it spot on, but also explain why it is the way it is. even if its not just banging out two finger "guitar hero" barre chords. every variation of every chord has a distinct sound or voice and the original artist chose each variation for that reason. you have a good ear, and a true knowledge of guitar/music theory. (like you dont know that already, THANKS FOR GETTING IT RIGHT!!!!!

  • its easier to listen to the song.this shit's hard as hell

  • THANK YOU!!!! You have helped me immensely in learning this song.

  • I think I saw Ploopterfarm doing this... A great tutorial nevertheless.

  • Thank you for this lesson.

It has helped me immensely in learning this song.

  • if the poster of this video doesnt mind, can you give me the number of times the notes were played? i Tried to listen, but i couldnt see your strumming hand so im not sure. Please tell me if this is right

    A 1-2. 1-2-3-4 G 1-2 D 1-2-3-4 (Repeat)

    D 1-2, 1-2-3-4 F 1-2 G 1-2-3-4

I have only played guitar for one month but i know i can tackle just this if i could get the correct times.

  • Thanks so much for this. A brilliant. nonsense lesson. Top marks.

  • NICE THANX

  • so uve taught me the cords can u explain the struming its a lot of struming thanks

  • Hey man, you are by far one of the best at these lessons, i dont use tabs or nothin, been playin about 3 years and im 15, i only play by ear mostly but i just couldnt figure out the intro chords, plus i like how someone can just look at your fretboard and see what to play since its not blurry or nothin, makes it alot faster

  • WOW! Great guitar mentor! And you're not snooty about it either- like some of the better teachers on YT! My 17 year old son asked me to learn "Let it Ride" and I found you. Then I kept going and found this, too! Thank you!

  • That first chord?damn it!!!! my fingers wont go like that!!! arrrgghhh

  • Great video! I love all of your BTO lessons. Very excited now that Randy Bachman and CF Turner are back together!!

How about Rock is my life next??

  • GREAT LESSON!!! do you have the Cords somewhere?

  • Well done, could you run us thru the rythym also ?

  • well coming from a beginner im very happy you made the video the way you did. im surprised you have patience in explaining each chord so well but it helps so much, compared to the videos where they say the chord and just play it. thanks so much you make learning guitar easy and fun :)

  • Does anyone have video material of BTO?

    Thanks in advance

  • Always willing to hear constructive criticism! I normally go faster, but some of these chord shapes are less common.

    Thanks for watching.

"Oh, say can you see" - The End!

  • Haha...It's "Oh say can you see..etcetera, etcetera, the end."

  • @OsainteveO great lesson pal,what a tune ey,

  • @jwandhistools What? Theres is ONLY two BTO's songs and he did them both!

  • Great teacher and great song

  • BBBBBaby...that was real good instruction. Thanks alot.

  • This is great, i would love you to post the lead too.

  • @divedaz

The leads are covered in part 2.

  • Saw your Let it ride video, and now this one... I guess I've found my BTO reference!

    You have a new subscriber.

  • i dont get why people play the difficult barred chords..like a find it much easier to play the a chord, on the 2 3 4 string on the 2nd fret

  • The same reason why some people play video games on 'hard' mode and some people play on 'easy'. Whatever ends up making it fun for you is what you should do.

  • gotcha, like i see everyone play the barred chords, and i didnt know if i am playing it wrong, but just to clear it up, when i see songs where people are playing the barred chords, if there are other ways to play it that are easier for me, itll still sound right?

  • Another guitar player will notice, but most people will think it sounds right.

If you want to be a professional, then you have to learn bar chords. If you just want to play for fun (like most of us), then take your time. I'm still learning after 28 years.

  • so basically our own style, like thats all i play for, just for fun, a hobby lol im too busy with school and track to start a band or anything..but thank you very much my friend

  • @jaqua524

Well playing G barred going to C is down one string instead of a whole new finger configeration, As well as sounding more BASS-y ... Open chords are played on all 6 strings and barres are usally just 3 or 4. Just some people find it easier to do barres. I like to learn at least 3 ways to play any song I learn. But yeah they sound pretty much the same, I mean theres only 7 notes (a-g) ... But there's 164 ways to make an E lol.

  • Thanks man, some killer chords to learn.

  • GJ! Very nice lesson...

  • This is a great song to start learning barre chords. You explain everything so clearly and well. It's really building up my fingers and looks great. Thanks a ton.

  • Man, that A chord IS kinda complicated..lol

    I'll have to practice it

  • It's definitely a weird chord to play.

  • good job steve. nice to see some good old canadian rock classics

  • nice lesson! i just found out i need a little more general guitar practice first, but i'll definitly look this howto up in the future ;)

  • cheers for this one steve,iv'e been trying to get it down for a while, and the barred c shape is where i've missed the the trip,i will give it a try and let you know the outcome, certainly got a sound way of tuto'ring.fairplay to you,and thanks for the effort that you have taken, best wishes,
