But, right when the time machine starts, the boy wakes up, but it is too late. Years later, they meet again.

Hm This is what I think happened: IU fell in love with one guy, but he's like older than IU and more like her senpai, probably he treat her like his little sister. Unable to show her feelings to him (that's why the guy is asleep). IU enter this time machine to fast forward time and see if the guy will finally realize IU feelings in the future ;this happens because you see tears in his eyes, he's missing IU I suppose :) . just my assumption tho haha

IU saw that they were meant to be together and since she cannot wait, she entered the time machine. The only problem is that she didn't know that the guy would wake up when she's 20 years old and the day when IU went to the future, that's also the day that she turned 20. But yeah, it's still a happy ending since the guy remembered her when they met in the future.

Either that or: He may be a figment of her imagination while shes sleeping, or maybe someone seriously asleep. She wants love so she wants to fast forward time in order to fall in love with this person. and then the mv shows what happens xD
