@WheresOurVote Personally I don't believe there is a big enough percentage of sensible 16 year olds to push this through. Granted there are a lot of sensible, respectable, mature 16 year olds. However I believe the idiots outweigh the clear minded. Granted you could come back at me and say people may not change that much in 2 years, or there are lots of idiotic 18 year olds but I firmly believe those extra two years count.
@BryanMaddocks You've made fair points which I am not going to disagree with. However we are living in a democracy, 'democracy' meaning 'rule by the people' in other words, even if those people are "idiots", those idiots have every right to voice their say as they are all citizens of this society. At the end of the day society is to blame for the imbalanced ratio of sensible teens to "idiots". Perhaps if youth were giving real responsibility, this wouldn't be the case.
@WheresOurVote Fair response in terms of idiots still are people, but by that logic you're saying that newborns have the right to vote in terms of which coloured shape they put through the plastic toy holes first.
You can think of reasons and rights as to why 16 year olds have the "right" to vote through the word "democracy" but at the end of the day it will boil down to where you draw the line, and currently the line is drawn at 18. I support that line, and I'm pretty sure you will find it ...
@BryanMaddocks awww man, don't be so cynical! If people like you weren't so pessimistic than not only would things like the voting age have already been lowered, but in the long term society would be a much, much more complacent place. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT ! :D
@BryanMaddocks In my opinion the line has been drawn too early to be just.
You could have said the same thing prior to 1969, when the line was drawn at 21. Alas! You're completely missing the whole concept of my campaign - to get the YOUTH'S VOICES HEARD. Letting them vote will have countless beneficial implications. Their voices are arguably most important, as they are the future generation and thus deserve every right to choose who shapes their futures.
she is sooooooooo annoying! DANGER! Anastasia's here! but i totally agree with her campaign so yay for her! =)
