gotta climb out fast, FAA rules don't apply here due to terrain and plus there's a special clause in every US airline that pilots have at least 5+ ATC years of training to land and take off here....

@shmuck50 I've got over 4,000 hrs on the 757 (not video game hrs).  You're right in that rules "prohibit" over 30 pitch up in a transport category aircraft. Flaps are for generating more lift at slower speeds but that doesn't diminish an aircraft performance with a clean wing. A 757 with full power will exceed every flap limit it has........and with 13,000 + hrs of which over 4,000 hrs is on the 757......trust me!

love all the buildings just beyond the end of this hairy ass short rwy, where i'm sure, lot's of people (workers?) go about their daily tasks. if i "knew" i was right in line with this ultra dangerous approach, sitting in some building that would be leveled if an airliner didn't stop or overran it's approach, i don't think i'd be very comfortable. Even with all the technology and power in airplanes today, the 757 was designed ahead of its time and continues to be one of the most versatile aircraft flying today. I was sad when they ended produciton, but they will definitely be patrolling the skies for a lot more years to come.

He used too much runway to have been empty. Max power takeoff on a 757, even if it's loaded up, is impressive. An empty 757 will only use a couple thousand feet of runway. A light 757 with max power and a 30 degree nose up attitude will overspeed the flaps. You need about 45 degrees to keep the speed down.

i was on this run way and our plane had to take a second chance to land. this was the first time i ever flew and it was scary but awesome. when i left honduras i had to leave out of San Pedro Sula because the airport was closed due to the taca plane that over ran the run way and just last night on the history channel they had the 10 most extreme airport toncontin was number 2 out of 10 being best and 1 being the worst.

Very skillful pilots. This runway is something similar to St. Barths in the Carribean. One end of the runway is almost of the beach & the other end is close to a road, small hill. Very close !

Nice video, good example of how quickly a 757 can get airborne when it needs too. That runway is a bit of a joke though, not sure why they bothered with touchdown markers, they might as well have just put:
