@ubersuperbatman serialism or dodecaphony. just cuase you don't understand it doesn't mean it's bad. it just means you're ignorant, but no hard feelings.
i've to orchestrate the op.22 for the conservatory... it's amazing how this man use the paper!!!!!!! everything's connected... everything's inverted... pure maths.
I remember binging Webern's music to high school for show and tell so to speak. . No one there heard anything like it! I love his music. The 1970's were the golden years for recording such wonderful stuff.
@NymphetamineOrchid There is no right way to listen to anything. As said in an earlier comment, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like Webern, great. If others don't, let them handle that themselves. Be satisfied that others are exposed to this music at all.
Great musc. I love the use of the disjunct pitches. Very nice.

Thanks for posting. Lovely performance. Odd that in the the 21st century, 20th century Webern should seem so radical.

Boulez conducts Webern, who could ask for anything better?
SweetSweetWaldo 1 year ago
This is one of the masterpieces of XXth century
Webern "dried" logorrheic late romanticist's composer music (Think of Bruckner, Mahler, Richard Strauss & C.)
After Webern, music is not the same as before.
IMHO his influence was more important than Schoenberg's, who wrote wonderful music, too.

First thank you for the nice Video.
A question... where do you get the quotations and information about the concert?
It would be very helpful for me to know this...
=)

@4MuSick - I believe most of the information in this video came from the Moldenhauer biography - in my opinion, the best Webern biography.

This music works on the paper, but not for the ears.
It lacks totally beauty.
