There was a chubby kid on my school's volleyball team in middle school, and he would ALWAYS dive in his... uh... own way. He would try to kick it or get it with his foot, but he would fall on his ass every time. It was embarrassing but hilarious at the same time.
there's no use at all using pancake in that form... Pancake is the only solution when you're totally fucked. Instead of simply laying yourself down on the ground you are supposed to be sliding with maximum acceleration in order to reach the ball.
I'd say screw this form, run through the ball instead of laying down and waste time. It makes it much easier for the setter aswell
Oh Jonny, your arms should follow through to the ground in a dive in a very fluid manner so that you're finishing your move, and not stopping suddenly.. You will risk losing control of the ball. Try putting socks on your hands to learn how to properly dive..the socks will help your arms slide on the ground, still hurts, but efficient practice.. Better than this.
That leg technique is kind of hard I tried that just now and I looked like a fool. I wouldn't want to look like a fool in volley practice, but I really want to learn it!
my coah teaches us to keep one hand front, so kinda like slide forward a little bit. i dont know which one is better,.....and also she tells us to roll after dive
@stevenydc thats wat i was told to hit the ball and roll the play isnt going to stop so u can get up and fix your hair im also libero but i find knee pads are helpful but if u dont wear knee pads and it doesnt hurt you are obsilouly not aggressavie enough your hips should be sore too and i always have massive bruises
All I can say is I'm glad I never learnt to play volleyball in Salt Lake City; my knees and hips would be totally shot by now. To see how to really dive for a volleyball watch the videos with IDs NId7ANsLWvk or jesfLVrlVvw. One of the most important things about diving is to make sure you don't land on your hips or knees. You shouldn't need pads as your knees are not going to HIT the floor if you do it properly!
Im a libero and I don't use pads, don't need them... my opinion is thats not a propper dive you need to push your upper body with your hends when you are on the ground in short words like penguins on the snow
Thats a really usful video! But I just have one problem....everytime I dive my coach says to use my knees since I have knee pads...is that a good way to dive or just a way to hurt my self everytime I dive??
@PPlover122 I dont know about using your pads to dive... my coach told me that a good player, who plays correctly, doesnt really need pads. He said that pads are more of a precaution to prevent injury... the guy in this video isnt even wearting pads.
Look at my video! Im doing it in match

You will not really ever hav to dive like that, either keep your arms out or move faster to get to the ball

Why are you not taking the ball with bagger, you just take pancake when it is no other way to take it with bagger.
