I love the commentary of the blokes filming this stuffup! I think it goes something like this: "They are going to start going down a bit faster now" "Well it's been nearly fifteen minutes." "No it hasn't." "Seven" "Seven since they started moving it." "OHHH FUCK!!!!" (Sounds of a screaming gearbox/winch assembly destroying itself & clanging of metal.) "OHHH FUCK!!!!" "What the fuck does he want?" "Oh Shit, needs help!" What a classic! Feel sorry for the crane operator though. Poor bastard.
Good catch. And even better that you kept the camera rolling on the subject when it all went wrong. So many wave the camera all over the place when the real action happens. I can't imagine the amount of paperwork this would have created.
if you all just look to the right of the screen. you will see the smock from the big red crane and stuff flying up in the air. its clear that the brakes on the cable drums failed?
@FordMan2007 Ok, you are correct, I saw 4-5 cranes 1 dragline. I'd have known the difference if I'd seen the shovel/bucket. I'm not that familiar with cranes and such, yet. But I'm learning. Although that's a very large drag-line, and it does look like the stuff i've seen here in the USA.Is it a walker, or crawler? Thanks for the info!
@dougspair It's cool man no harm done, not gunna crucify you for not knowing, like half the fuckwitts on youtube would do. Im no expert in this field but I believe to move around it walks, big as round bed it sits on to rotate then 2 rectangular pads raise and lower and move back and forth to lift and move the whole unit, about 3 meters at a time, very slow process.
@FordMan2007 I have lived in California, USA the last 60 years of my 64, and see little of anything large except a few tower cranes on building sites. New hospital add-on here right now, 2 towers. I did buy a book a few years ago called Large Earth- moving equipment. Has all the various stuff, crawlers, 'walkers' Bucyrus, Euclid, Cat, Manitowoc. Pics of Big Muskie in there. I've noticed that a lot of people on youtube are good at attacking others who can't fight back. Physically, that is.
@dougspair Yeah everyone acts like an expert when there sitting in their arm chair at home browsing the net, I guess it gives them some sort of a feeling of importance and knowledge, they are only fooling themselves.
@FordMan2007 I base my comments here on experience, and 64 years of accumulated observations, and I'm no 'expert' on anything, and don't claim to be. Also I try to learn something new every day, large or small. What might make me feel important is if someone came to me for advice or help, or asked to see pics of work I've done, or the 52 foot bridge I built. You know anything more about this drag-line accident? I can hear, that apparently the winch/brake failed on the crane to the right?
@dougspair Nah mate affraid I dont have much more info about the accident, I'm sure if you googled it there would be some websites with a breakdown of what really happened
Woooow..... Unbelieveble. Not sure if the person who uploaded was there, but i'll ask anyway: Did anyone die or it was just mass distruction of heavy equipments?
What caught fire there on the righthand side of the screen? Something shoots up into the air (or was yanked free) and then there's black smoke. What was that?
hahaha, contains bad language, of course he was not pleased, what else should he say ? Ops ..? Yeah, hope nobody has been hurt, cheers n thanx for uploading
OvvvV-OHH FUCK!!!-VVVVVVVVVVVVVMM-PPPEEERRRROOOWWWWW!!!! CCKERWTHNONGFNANG...Bong Ttk-ohh fuck... LOL!!! so fucken insane sounding, I wish I was there when it happened.
All friction cranes have a "FREE FALL" & most hydraulic crane operators without friction crane experance will release the free fall clutch thinking that it is the swing brake.
i am a crane operator in nz...... i admit the biggest ive operated was only a 250t kobelco crawler, but it has free fall capabilitys, as do ALL our crawler cranes in our fleet. Molotovzeus clearly has never operated, nor been around many cranes.
do you really need to warn people about the bad language? It's in country Australia for fuck's sake, every fucken second fucken word is fucken fucken.
Am I the only one who noticed the flying propane or oxygen bottles? one at 0:21 sec going up and one at 0:27 going from right to left, in the right corner of the screen.
@ProChoiceJesus There are a few hundred tons of cranes coming down, and you're blaming him about saying a few times fuck? Maybe it's time to reconsider your priorities. Life will be a lot easier if you don't stumble over every single word.
@chrisso011 whoa there sport , I was going to shoot you down again , just because you are so easy , But then I bothered to read your comment and i was like hold on . Ok your last comment was all about how you love america and have such great friends there , but your comment before that was mocking there recession and there dollar value compared to yours , struth blue stone the fucking crows , You just made a bigger dick of yourself than I could ever make , Thanks mate , lol ya dickhead
@chrisso011 Thats a bold call insinuating my country is in a recession , You dont even know what country I am in , fucking dumbass , I wont go in to details but unemployment is very low round here , go back to playing knifey and spoony before you really humiliate yourself , I would say idiot , but in reality all I need to say is " australian " and then the whole world goes oh yeah we know he means idiot , now fuck off idiot and go suck a dingo
No one that comments know anything about cranes or what happened. 1) The blue 999 pinjib winch brake failed. 2) the 999 had most of the weight and if positioned on the side of the dragline boom would have increased it's radius= less lifting capacity. 3) they were installing the boom of the dragline, not raising it. 4) cranes are not fitted with freefall so can't be operator error.
@Molotovzeus I have just finished crane safe course with BHP and the trainer was onsite when this happend, it was operator error this older crane was fitted with free fall, the client had insisted on using their own operator instead of crane company operator, the new operator was trained on the day and this is what happend!
we weren't supposed to lift a load before getting the proper radius.. once lifted, we weren't suppose to travel even if it's an inch.. my bad b'cos i didn't really read the details 1st.. :$ but i wondered, just why was the blue crane was placed that way whereas it could be placed by the side.. oh well, humans makes mistakes and so do it.. :)

@Molotovzeus
1. It was a 4100 based Transilift, not a 999

3. They were lowering the boom for maintenance.
