  • Can any owners of this comment on the grind? It has a hollow grind, which is fine for shallow cutting, but creates a LOT of friction compared to flat, saber, or convex. Hollow is cheaper and makes it lighter, but a propper slice could be the difference of life and death.

  • @mojothemigo this knife is a fighter through and through. It cuts very well indeed

  • Guys that knife just saved me guy pulled a knife on me at a night club on the weekend I laughed at the bloke and got use the famous saying (That's not a knife mate these are knives) so I presented the espada and rajah 2 the bloke hand second thoughts after that best feeling ever diverted a very messy situation thank you Lyn Tomson & cold steel you may have saved my life

  • I own one ....broke a rule and trained with it..cut my forearm ..15 stitches later ..9 on the outside 7 on inside ...greatest part is i barely hit myself with the blade not hard at all .. :) great blade .. I train with Felix Valencia he laughed at me and said cold steel makes good knives

  • @VNSHood

Did Felix Valencia wear sometimes a red nose?

  • I recently brought one and it's bloody massive and sexy (that's not a knife this is a knife)

  • Best folder ive ever seen!!

  • 4:54 that is about half the reason why i why this, it's kinda like," wait, how did that just come out of your pocket?"

  • Tight like a mans anus

  • ColdSteel is the only company of which I know where the products are as good for real as they are in the ads.

  • These vids... The only reason i haven't purchased a CS knife yet.

  • you call that a knife? *whips out cold steel espada xl* THIS IS A....oh, same one, yea thats a pretty damn good knife

  • This knife has single-handedly shattered my disapproval of folding knives. This Espada is awesome!

  • Question is...can it shoot bullets?

  • thats all well and good, but how is it at spreading butter?

  • Wait thats a knife?

  • Thats the kinda knife u bring to a gun/knife fight!

  • 4 people have been cut by an Espada

  • Not impressed at all....and Lyn is a faggot.

  • It cuts through cardboard too?!

  • 4:56 did he just wave open that.....

  • I Love It. Sent in an order on it yesterday. This will be a collectible one day.

  • This, The Ghurka Kukri, and the katana are probably the only products i'd get from them.

The Espada is great for carrying around. And more legal than a handgun

  • i love it when they show the fat guy in slow motion

  • to bad mine (XL G10) came as blunt as a piece of wood!

  • whos tests like this?

  • Mann I'm hungry after this video!!!

  • Cold Steel should make ballistic knife :D

  • @fearzbeazt555 I wish!!! To bad they are not legal in the USA :(

  • Get these soon before Obama bans them!

  • Fat guys with knives in slow mo.

    Awesome.

  • @halorulesyourface

This this is fucking amazing and scary at the same time. The new series is so much meaner looking. And "espada" literally translates to sword in Spanish.

  • who the fuck is the damn kid in the red shirt iv never seen him before

  • @XXxGAM3rxXX23 Might be Demko's son lol. kinda looks like him

  • i m gonna bring this to work

  • This thing is fucking huge

  • 7 and half inch blade?? the largest fixed blade i have is the cutco/ka-bar explorer which has a 7 inch blade. that thing is a freaking sword

  • i wish you would cook those ribs instead of cut them up..................

  • i got all 3 espadas..but personally my favorite is the large. The xl is just too big to carry on a regular basis. I love them all though and i do carry the xl at least once a week and i can tell non of these videos are lies. Cold Steel really did wonders with these monsters.

  • I don't think this knife was meant to be used in practical situations. It's more like a collectible.

  • Just one question, where I can find the playlist used in the these videos?

  • rourke uses the large in the expendables. not the xl. the xl would never fit in a boot.

TheIndianaKidd has a video. pause it at 00:27

  • rourke uses the large in the expendables. not the xl. the xl would never fit in a boot.

  • I'll bet that opens the living fuck out of envelopes.

  • i got a boner and then lost it once he sliced through the bamboo O.o

  • I get mine on 6-18-11 can't wait

  • One of my teachers met Lynn Thompson and said he has like chain guns in his back yard and tons of knives and shit all over

  • I ordered this beast earlier today from Amazon. Can't wait!

  • i think i just jizzed

  • is the extra large espada legal to carry in georgia?

  • is the el espada legal to carry in georgia?

  • Now THAT'S what I call a knife!!!

  • The blade on the Espada xl I had chipped and I washed it in the dishwasher and the finish came off. But it cuts meat like no other in the kitchen. Currently it's on it's way back to cold steel to have the blade fixed. Possibly they will re-polish it for me. This is a great knife for a chef if your willing to wash blood off of it by hand.

  • yup.. totally gonna pay $400 so i can cut cardboard, stab car hoods, and protect myself from dead cows

  • @ilikeshtuff

Cow flesh is tougher than human. It is pretty good proof that you can kill a man with this---and yes, you might need to protect yourself from a person. Close up, a knife can be more deadly than a gun, and some states that don't allow concealed carry or long fixed blades do allow you to carry a folder of any length. Also, the price is more like 230.

  • @MetaMorphy but if you get the plain g10 version you can get it for about 150...

  • @MetaMorphy I think the espada XL is just overkill even if you think you need a knife for 'tactical' use but your points are good and it is certainly a beautiful piece of cutlery.

  • @MetaMorphy ok, so im gonna pay 230 for a knife when i have a perfectly good folder that costs around 20-30 bucks. O WAIT, BUT CAN I STAND ON IT?! dude, 200 bucks more than it needs to be. Are you gonna do cartwheel on your knife when "defending" yourself?

  • @ilikeshtuff So what you are saying is you would rather gamble your life or the lives of loved ones on an untested knife? Sure, our demo videos are fun but they also serve a purpose. We put our knives (regardless of their price) through the most brutal quality control tests in the industry and with good reason. It's not just about strength, it's about safety. We prepare for the worst while you hope for the best.

  • Wait this folds?

  • @drag0nkill3r I know.......

  • Finally i can beat up these scary dead chickens!

    omgee :O

  • EDC That Sombitch!!!

  • press 3 repeadatly

  • that kid is eatin up all your cuttin meat

  • well the espada xl failed on me. So I'm sending it in for repairs.

  • i need one right now!!!

  • fat, fat and more fat. even the kid was fat

  • @avhousebitch yeh but at least he got bad ass knives and mad guap

  • Awesome blade but its a prettyboy. Yes it can do hard work but its just not ideal. I own the XL don't get me wrong i love the blade but i will be making some mods on it that "for me" will make it a more effective tool and not just a razor sharp show piece. Cant wait to have it done and post the vid.

  • I also own the Cold Steel Gurka kukri Sk-5 and 2 cs true flight throwers. Because I needed something cool to do when camping and throwing knives is great. The Gurka kukru Sk-5 makes a nice mechete, affordable sword, ax, planer, wood splitter, and you can even whittle with it. Good job Cold Steel. I tell you what. You keep making great high quality products that i'm confident will outlast me and I'll keep buying them,

  • I saved up the money and bought one. I plan on getting a rajha 2 as well for my small delicate tasks. The espada XL is great for in the kitchen chopping onion, easilly cuts off a slab of steak for my grill and around the house it clears brush with ease. You have to watch your fingers when you close it. i nearly lopped off my right pinky 3 weeks ago. I've got a nice scar. Still worth it. It's a beautiful functional tool, folding sword. Can even hold handle with two hands. I love it.

  • @andrewsheldonreeves you use the same tool for clearing brush that you use for culinary? you nasty...lol

  • Mickey Rourke used the XL Espada in The Expendables.

  • @anonymusbob101 Yes he did is that why you want to buy the Cold Steel Espada XL cause I'm not going to lie when i saw it in the movie i was like i have to fucking have that knife LOL HAhaHAha!

  • Gotta catch them all coldsteelmon! I must become the cold steel MASTER!

  • @iamnotme1234 ME TO MON! LOL

  • I'm tempted to get this. Please don't discontinue it while i save up the money. :)

  • @andrewsheldonreeves I know dude I've started saving up to, They better keep it in stock or I'm going to fucking flip out ape shit! LOL

  • that's a monster.

  • plz make a black coated model, that way military users cancarry it without

it's shine giving away their possition.

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 Sorry my mouse clicked too many times when it froze.

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 This knife is amazing, really cool, and super powerful. Regardless of that, this isn't something people in the military would want to carry for the most part. Cold Steel definitely makes military grade folders and fixed blades, and they usually won't want something that big and that expensive to go to war. This is a cool at home knife, and I'd definitely own one if I could afford it :D

  • @ofsjason yeah your right cause some guys at my PA Army base went to Afghanistan with the Cold Steel Recon 1 Plain Blade Clip Point and Tanto for there folders and most of then also went with the Cold Steel SRK San Mai 3 & Cold Steel Recon Tanto San Mai 3 for there fixed blades over the standard issue Ka-Bar they did not come back yet so i could ask them what they thought about it so I'll let you know if you want when they come back!

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 get it duracoated dude.

  • @OutdoorSurvivalist1 Duracoat

  • after the 600 pounds the shock test wasn't really nesessary

  • Finally a folding knife that I can use to stab those pesky car hoods and cut up the slab of cardboard trying to rob me.

  • I would love to have gone on their shopping trip to buy all of the stuff they cut.

  • 0:50 aaaaand turn. :D

  • At 4:36 is that a kid?

  • man that thing is like a folding machete i would love to own one of there and a kukri

  • @westsidetrumpet its a folding Bowie. far nastier than a machete. Bowies are better all around knives, aren't flimsy like machetes so you can beat on them with out them bending or breaking, and you can also stab the shit out of stuff because of that clip point. went sailing straight through that kevlar vest! BEAST!

  • Comment removed

  • @bigbobkropp i know lol i have a traditional bowie cant remember the brand but it pushed it through some steel but next knife im goin for is rajah1 or rajah 2

  • thank god OJ didnt have this knife, he would have butchered the whole neighbourhood.

  • This thing costs waaaaaaaaaay too much

  • Really cool knife. Want one bad. Can we get one with a lanyard hole though? Pretty much mandatory in my opinion.

  • that looks like something a serial killer would use

  • 1:Put jimping and Textured G10 on it to give better lock in to the hand and don't give me this "built for the hand, handle bull crap we can still slide sideways

    2:Blacken the bolsters!

3:Use better steel or lower the price.

Just my 2 cents, people if you want a real tactical knife go for the Spyderco Police,Benchmade 710 or Cold Steel Recon 1.

  • Ha,hahaha you laugh at Other people tactical folders??? I laugh at this one,on a tactical folder I want traction, jimping, textured G10 (not polished!) and I don't want shiny bolsters on it and for 100-300 dollars I want better than AUS8,put VG10,154CM,S30V or ATS34 on it,if other companies can do it you should to,if you want these to be real tactical folders then do the following:

  • cold steel i had no clue you guys had a youtube channel! the espada is definitely going to be the next knife i add to my collection. i need to let my pockets heal a little bit before i buy it though because i just bought a dragonfly katana last month. very nasty blade. you guys have amazing products and go above and beyond the standard of quality knives.

    -James

  • i hate president lynn c thompson so fucking much, he should stay out of the videos hes a fucking embarrassment he cant do shit and he looks like a fag doing it, especially when he tries stabbing things with a foward thrust and puts his other hand behind him and up like a fucking homo, i watched the entire absolute proof video and i kno wat im talking bout, it should only be andrew demko, robert vaughn and a few others but def not lynn hes such a fatass retard

  • @davidb619 lol , same here , that fat ass cant throw , he swings the knifes and swords like a bitch lol and has that stupid smart ass smile on his face after a cut. did you see his daughter in the inferno vids ? OMG !!! fatty should stay in the office and write the paycheck's. I think lynn was back in the days a hooligan (look at the brooklin smasher vid) or a sadistic butcher (any cutting vid) and whats with the vids about cutting shoes or gloves with meat in them ? nice example for kids!!

  • @mysticsailor1983 yea and like seriously wtf is up with the cardboard bullshit wtf is that even proving and he still sucks at doing the easiest shit

  • @davidb619 Go get some actual experience, then come back.

  • why did you stop making the triple action? it was top of my wish list. just ordered a ti-lite and a couple of minitacs btw

  • do u cold steel guys have internships?

  • does cold steel have a warranty? how long is it? if the knife breaks can you send it back and they will give you a new one?

  • I ordered a catalog a while back, how long does it take to receive it in the mail?

  • have u guys ever considered hookin up with Death's Head customs

  • Everyone needs to bug CS enough so that they release the Espada II series

  • the UK is so big brother controlled, if i tried to buy one of these online the transaction would no doubt be passed onto police or something and my name & address logged with some authority figure/body...

  • 4:41 is that a kid

  • question what do you guys do with the knives after a demo

  • umm, why is there on the right side of the blade stamped : Cold Steel Taiwan ??

if you claim to make the strongest knifes around and the best quality etc , i would stay away from any markings on my product that say : taiwan , china , indonesia

that just contradicts your claims of superior quality

  • Bullshit.

If they have the right machinery in Taiwan, the knife is every bit as strong as if the machinery stood in the US, or in Germany itself, the motherland of engineering.

Design and craftsmanship matter, the place is irrelevant.

  • @Skullchaser08 i agree 120 % with you that design , skill and craftsmanship matter. Still , every single product i owned that was made in china or taiwan broke in a matter of months. I would like to see "made in Germany" on the CS blades ...... thats where im from btw

  • Cold Steel made in Germany.

Oh man, a dream would come true.

Germany rocks big time, always did. :)

    We're neighbours then, I'm from Austria. :D

  • @mysticsailor1983 practically anyone who has bought a cold steel knife will say Bullshit to your claims. Cold steel has strong knives. even the cheaper ones.

  • @poisenfrog7 im sure what you say is true , they look solid.

what bothers me is that the blades are made by taiwanese people and just having good machines doesnt make you a good machinist just like a ferrari doesnt make you a good driver. at least it doesnt say :COLD STEEL CHINA

  • is the kid someone's son?

  • Most probably. :D

  • Comment removed

  • God mother fuckin damn i want one!

  • That XL version is redunculious dudes!

  • I own the XL Espada and recently bought the Rajah I. Although the Kukri style shape of the Rajah does help in chopping ability, the shear size and length of the XL Espada gives it the leverage and speed to out chop the Rajah.

  • @WraithAR I own the rajah 1 also. Espada xl may be my birthday present to me.

  • does this cut better than the rajah 2? i own a rajah 2...it has a 6" blade....i can't imagine this 7.5" blade...lol

  • The Espada stabs better. The Rajah II chops better.

  • What knife do you think is better and more durable? the Rajah 2 or the espada XL?

  • Rajah II is made with high carbon steel rather than stainless. That means its stronger and more durable. If the Espada XL was in high carbon, I'd buy one, but for now I'll stick with my Rajah.

  • @Llyranon

Get your facts straight. Both Rajah and Espada series have the same blade steel of AUS 8A Stainless.

  • @WraithAR

My mistake. I was looking on a retailer's website rather than Cold Steel, and they listed the AUS 8A for the Espada and high carbon for Rajah. Should have checked the original source. Thanks for the correction.

  • The Rajah I, II, and III are, and have always been made from, AUS 8A steel, just like the Espadas...

    It's the same exact steel.

  • Technically, the Rajah II. Its spine is a full millimeter thicker, and comes to a wider point, and its blade is 1 and a half inches shorter.

But more durable doesn't mean better. The Espada XL is longer, lighter, and the point is much more suited for stabbing. It's also a LOT prettier than the Rajah II.

The XL Espada and the Rajah II are sort of the M16 and the AK47 respectively: They both have their uses, they both have fanatical fanclubs, and ultimately, you should probably buy both =P.

  • @stealthbeast Very good comment i own the Cold Steel Rajah 2 right now but i do really want the Cold Steel Espada XL but i don't have the money to blow on it but eventually I'll have them both!

  • I want one! Dad gum it!

  • chuck noris steak knife!

  • If they used the same knife to all that im impressed if not not so much :S

  • @TheCROSSFIRE09 i think they resharpen in before the next test but i doubt that they would use diffrent ones

  • The people who carry knives and guns who care about quality products from Cold Steel, Kershaw, SOG, or any other company are not the people stabbing people out in the streets. Those guys don't care about that crap. Were just good individuals looking to protect ourselves and our fellow man by perfecting our systems and above all else descalate situations. People call us whimps, wusses for backing out of confrontations, but when lives are on the line, knives and guns like this come out from us.

  • @Bubblewhip341 truer words have never been spoken

  • @Bubblewhip341 T.T you're an inspiration to all!

  • @Bubblewhip341 ur totally right , there's no way a villan or crook will spend almost 500$ on a knife to go stab some people or do roberys ... they are the type of people who buy wallmart knives, use cheap potato knives or similar ... they need a knife that costs them zero to nothing so they can easly throw it away after doin a crime ...

  • @viniv20 Your right about that so we as the good people if we always walk around prepared for the worst we'll almost all the time come out on top, Something else that is really good to take up some sort of Martial Arts to, I do Muay Thai cause it is very hard hitting & close up fighting which would probably happen if some idiot is trying to rob you but if that doesn't work I'll just use my Smith & Wesson 9mm Sigma or my Cold Steel Rajah 2 if i have to then call the police!

  • @Bubblewhip341 Well said I'm with you on that, The reason i carry weapons like this is cause 7 years ago i watched one of my best friends become a victim to a gun from a skin head and i could not do anything for him cause me and my friend did not believe in guns and knives at the time but this whole situation ended with him getting shot in the face with a 22 and i watched him die in front of me while i waited for the EMT but i learned something from that to never hate but always be prepared!

  • @Bubblewhip341 Safe Maker 1 and SOG Vulcan here bra.

  • I'm gonna have lot's of tumb downs but I think what you say is true for lot's of people.

  • Goodness Gracious!! I got freakin' goosebumps!! What an incredible work of the bladesmiths art!! Lotta money, but worth it I think. I must own one!

  • I'm pretty sure you could cut an arm off with that.

  • no dude the thign about the espada is that it can hold up 2 600 pounds!!! not that it's blade shape or it's weight etc........ i like 2 see a voyager hold 600 pounds and it is only 1 of the few knives with the new tri-ad lock

  • Swear to god !!! It's my next buy after San Mai trailmaster !!! Thank coldsteel !!

Nooo!!! I don't buy knife for fuck around with the people in city.

I live in Australia and i use knife mainly for self defence and survival!!

By the way , In Australia outback there are a lot of Bingo and Croc !! Watch out !! And you know that lym..you have been here before.

  • @zarnitintunzanyzack Bingo is a game. Probably you meant dingo. Anyway if you're afraid of a dingo without a knife you're coward. If you think you have a chance against a croc with a knife you're an idiot. I think you're both.

  • @hantasanta Bahaha !!! If you call me idiot, you are a d**khead then. Yeah I know I spell it wrong cos my phone touch screen is sensitive but you think you can against a normal alsation without having a knife ?? If so you are the one going to have a serious injury or even in a dead.. Plus Dingo never live a lone and they are always be in a group. & Croc ! I didn't mean the crocs that bigger than your mum ;) Anyway having any kind of self defense weapon is better than nothing or less injury.

  • @zarnitintunzanyzack I've just read your response. It was even more entertaining than your first comment. Thanks. Ok I admit I was rude and now I'm sarcastic too. Anyway I apologize and I promise I'll try to take you serious. By the way I'm not as a good person as you because I have knives against people. Sorry but where I live there are no "bingos". Cheers

  • Comment removed

  • this is even more badass than the rajah lol

  • Pretty cool songs, were they specially made for this video or...?

  • how did he make the folder flip out the moment he took it out of his pocket at 4:55 ?

  • Our Ti-Lite, AK-47, Espada, Spartan and a couple othersfeature the "pocket snag" opening that deploys as you pull out of your pocket.

  • @csknives its just a copy of the emerson wave design, is what your trying to say.

  • @csknives i have spartan and open it with the pocket snag !Lightning speed.REally great cold steel.I like every cold steel knife without exeption they are soo well made.I like also some other brands but they have some stupid models but cold steel NO.I like EVERY cold steel product.Everything is fantastic.

  • @Ookaminokemono He used the thumb clip or whatever thay call on the knife to open like that. See Cutlerylover's coldsteel Ti Lite video. He showed how to do that in step by step. Its pretty easy. Hope you enjoy that video. :)

  • @Ookaminokemono the hook on the back of the plade cacthes on ur pocket and makes the knife open look up spyder co's emmerson wave for a better idea

  • It has a part on top of the bl
