The Greyhound Corporation should never allow this videos to appear, this is not good Public Relations. Where are the executive at Greyhound who should have people on the scene ASAP when these things happen.
this is a G4500 most likely a brake fire that caused it. This model in particular has serious issues with brake fires. Most operators can catch a brake fire early and wait until the brakes cool off before continuing on. This operator was still in training as evidence of his white shirt black pants and yellow vest
@liljack77 I was riding from Memphis to Paducah a few years back when the bus had a tire blow out. After getting off the bus at the terminal,I noticed lots of smoke & told the driver AND a terminal employee.Nothing was done til I grabbed a fire extinguisher myself, called 911 about it & started spraying powder on the fire.
@liljack77 The Greyhound MCI G4500 are one of the newer models. This show not have happen and the maint personnel should be replrimanded. This bus was not check correctly before it was cleared for service runs.
Not a great place to have a fire, ehh?? The gas station! I had a wheel seal rupture and catch on fire on a '98 VanHool 2145 in '00. Loaded with 50+ people going to NYC. Happened in Cumberland, MD on the interstate. The passengers enjoyed the scenery on a hillside of the highway & lounged under an interstate bridge till a replacement was brought to me from 4 hours away. Joy. They were, thankfully, not angered with the issue (I would have been)!
@ModeratelyLucid I think with this working Gray hound bus fire the best thing to do is Shut down the Gas Pumps next door Just for Safety Per caution That Bus will really Get going all i am saying is your dong want to take any chances of something happening and it sparks the gas station on fire.
This is an MCI G41 or G45 series bus. Youll notice that the majority of greyhound fires on youtube are this model. Ive noticed in the last five years or so, the G's havent been on the road near as much.
A couple months ago i got an MC-12 from Boston MA that was probably 15 years old. Those run forever, the G's on the other hand were built from 2001 to 2003 and are already being retired, the ones that dont burn anyway.
when i work for greyhound in there garage they had two G4500 just like this one that also catch on fire as well. It has to be some thing to with there design that make them catch on fire.
@sammy7068 I suspect it may be an engine fire. Since the bus is in a parking lot and brake fires or over heated tires only occur while the bus is moving and drivers would have enough common sense to pull over immediately if the bus is on fire while its moving.
Release the parking break properly.
