@TheKiteFighter Damon Albarn is one of my heroes. Just saw Gorillaz at Madison Square Garden 12 days ago. Have also seen him with Blur (1999), The Good, The Bad and The Queen (2007) and his Honest Jon Review (2009). And he is not clean. Still doing drugs to this day cause he has been honest about it, smokes weed daily as he said in the No Distance Left To Run documentary. All the members of Blur did drugs, even heroin at a point. Weezer and Cake are horrible bands so I could care less bout them.

My opinion is that America has more Indie bands and the Brits have better commercial rock. They have all the classic big bands plus Oasis and Blur.

I never liked big American bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd. I liked more Pixies, Sonic Youth Nirvana stuff. But all in all, today's music mostly sucks especially in American so I totally agree with what you are saying:)

@Popfan93 I'm an American. FACT: Every alternative rock band that has been remembered in history (or at least 93-95% of the bands that stick) have come out of the UK. For some reason, bands of this genre tend to be better received by oversees audiences. Don't ask me why, because I don't know and that's a different ball game entirely. A legit American rock band has yet to conquer the same way a UK band like Blur or Oasis did back in the 90's. Right now, all we have is B. Spears Nu Metal and R&B.

I know what you are saying and I agree. My point is that most of my favorite bands are underground American bands that don't have much mainstream success and that I think they are better then most bands altogether - just because that's my taste. But in the 90's American Music Awards had a more even performance b/c TLC could be just as famous as Alanis Morisette and the spice girls. Now it's all these artists claiming to be original when they aren't and songs sound the same.

@Popfan93 Yeah, any underground bands (local and the like) are great, I should have clarified that I meant pop-mainstream stuff..The stuff that comes out of the UK thats hard rock or alternative tends to originate there (even if it is American) and then gets big oversees and comes back to the states afterwards...its strange because America was founded on the idea of freedom ( i know how lame that sounds, but its true...) Nevertheless, the whole process is backwards
