There are no trombones in this piece. Only brass are two trumpets and I think two horns. Trombones were never in symphonies until Joachim Nicolas Eggert wrote his third symphony in 1807. Then Beethoven started using them, too in his 5th and 9th symphonies. There is no "umph" in this movement really..it's the second movement of a symphony, typically the slow movement. There's that fortissimo surprise, and some later minor variations of the melody played forte, but that's it.
lol Yeah, I was falling asleep in class one day in music, then our teacher played this. I know this piece will be in my memory forever, that's for sure. :)
I remember learning that symphonies' second movements during the Classical period were always slow & Haydn, I guess, didn't want to see anyone sleeping during his second movement, so he had a liiitle surprise.
Hahaha if someone was sleeping there, they would have woken up in a panic xD I love this song. Especially on Nintendogs, when you put it and your dog isn't suspecting anything and then BAM! The dog gets scared. It's cute.
Its getting a too messy around 3:30

I think they reallyyy need to stay in tempo - stop rushing! (but I know it's really hard to do that in an orchestra)

This is my favorite movement of the symphony. The horns do need more umph. It's an enjoyable performance.
