wow, i am truely amazed. i want to paint portraits for a school project, but i have to use real poster paper. which paint is better for that? acrylics or oil?
Your technique is of a Master, but the composition looks like a picture taken by a camera made in japan and not for a divine eye. I had a hard time finding a focal point or general theme. Maybe each family person could have handle an artifact accord to their personalities? or maybe wearing rare costumes (Like Rembrandt paintings)
I was not sure about the likeness of the face. I took a photograph and checked in my computer if I was doing right. Once paint is dry you cannot do much anymore.
this is really great...thanks for sharing...good to see someone else figure these problems out...and you have given me good ideas....procedurally and workflow wise...thanks
AWESOME! i would like to know if i can use the same technique with acrylics and if it will have the same effect :( my paint dries too fast and i get a lot of sharp edges :(
why didn't you use a yellow for that guy's teeth? LOL

@kglovtodraw acrylics. poster paper wouldn't be able to support the oil in oil paints.
