I did not get the news of Gary. When he got heart attack last Feburary because I was freaking busy for my daily lives, and I assumed he:s beed doing good and playing somewhere last few month. I thought Gary could played his guiter next 20 years. I was wrong, and I am in state of shock and saddness.
strange to hear people talking about this track no one seams to mention the emotion, its not about a side, b side , or what year it was recorded its about los of a loved one and trying to cope and the tears so briliant
strange to hear people talking about this track no one seams to mention the emotion, its not about a side, b side , or what year it was recorded its about los of a loved one and trying to cope and the tears
to all. this song came out in 82/83 after thin lizzy broke up.they recorded this song as a single.however the original appears on the nightlife album in which gary does the original solo.brian did not want to rerecord as he felt garys solo was excellent.this version is differnt from the nightlife .
@roshfar It was recorded in Eel Pie Studios on 1985 and releasad a B-side on the Outi I The Fields 12". Phil & Gary were not on speaking terms back in 82

@dannymcmince yes. i discovered this was the original about a month after posting my comments. i was shocked. cos it stated it was just gary moore & phil lynott i thought they had got together to record another version. i guess i had only ever heard the live and dangerous version with robertson's playing and lynott singing the whole song itself. not a fan of the original. too loose and loses it's emotion for me and moore's solo is not particularly fluent. love moore on black rose and in g force.
Love it and ive never heard this version and ive followed Moore Lynott and Lizzy for 35 years plus, guess it must have been on the cd and i bought the album
@TomasMarsh u arse, how can you say that, he was an amazing guitarist and i doubt you could ever come close to his abbility. now im not gna say for one second tht im any better but shut up and just enjoy the song, if your here to make comments like that then i think i know who the wanker is and its not me or Gary Moore, or Phil Lynott.....
good song, funny, I would think I would remember a song like this because it's my type of song, but, I don't................and I remember almost all the songs from the 70s, even thin lizzy......
For all of you who think there is another plain we go to....well Gary and Phil will be rocking together again now....R.I.P..Gary....thx for the music you left us with
The spit-fire passionate fills by Gary Moore on the original w/Frankie Miller is the benchmark...the guitar playing is truly remarkably lyrical...take a listen to the re-mastered version...37 years later it will be hard to put down.
Dont think you can beat the Live and Dangerous version with Robertson and Gorham but if you havent seen One Night in Dublin check it out for Moore and Robertson and bear in mind this is 30 years plus down the road. Moore cant sing for his life but Christ this song was written for his playing.
Robertson and Gorham from Live and Dangerous though if you haven't seen it try Moore and Gorham from One Night in Dublin for the guitar solos (not Gary's singing) as in many ways this is Moores song.
The "original" released version of this song is from the studio album "night life", listed as gorham and robertson on guitar, but in fact they retained gary's guitar work and passed it off as the new hot-shot brian robertson (this track actually got them the new record deal after their split with the decca label).
still in love with you always has and always will be philo and gary's song. this is a s close as it gets to the two great guys doing their combined best to make that song a classic. take it in the context it is meant to be - a lifelong but troubled partnership between two great artists who recorded this at a time of big production styles.
@PMAR09 I don't think they passed it off as Robbo's solo. Apparently, Robbo was asked to change it and he said that there was nothing he could do to make it any better. Lynott was impressed by that. No one else is listed on the credits except for Lynott.. But it'll always be Gary Moore's work. He was like.. 22 when he played on the song. It's still one of his finest. =)
I do think that Robbo does a fantastic job live. But Gary Moore all the way.
@mrsunshin3 come on ! the Live in Dublin 1975 version of the song has great solo by Robbo (you can find the video on youtube) and he was so young too, like 17
Guess everybody is entitled to their opinion. I love this version. It's the first one I ever heard and it was hard for me to find on the net after I lost the LP years ago. Thx for posting.
a dreadful americanised version of a brilliant song. sounds like it can't wait to finish! and as for those hideous echoey def leppard plodding drums! the thin lizzy original is heartbreaking. those keyboards sound like they've come straight from bbc's ski sunday!!
No that's not the version. I don't think I have never seen the version with Frankie Miller on youtube. It's the album version though. You can find it on their best ofs an such. Frankie Millers voice is much raspier and the music is different. It is a wayyyyy better version.
whats with the chinee bullshit, hey I'm sorry, its good that I could connect with a commie on Gary's brilliance,if indeed your comment is positive
