  • I did not get the news of Gary. When he got heart attack last Feburary because I was freaking busy for my daily lives, and I assumed he:s beed doing good and playing somewhere last few month. I thought Gary could played his guiter next 20 years. I was wrong, and I am in state of shock and saddness.

  • damn both of these guys are dead now :(

  • My favourite version of this song... except possibly the Live And Dangerous version.

  • Sade is doing her version of this track and they both sound great. Love the guitar on both versions, but the original is still the best.

  • RIP Guy's

  • strange to hear people talking about this track no one seams to mention the emotion, its not about a side, b side , or what year it was recorded its about los of a loved one and trying to cope and the tears so briliant

  • strange to hear people talking about this track no one seams to mention the emotion, its not about a side, b side , or what year it was recorded its about los of a loved one and trying to cope and the tears

  • R.I.P.....

  • Love Love Love This!Love them both! Missing Phil so much! Beautiful song!

  • Someone missed the thumb up...

  • to all. this song came out in 82/83 after thin lizzy broke up.they recorded this song as a single.however the original appears on the nightlife album in which gary does the original solo.brian did not want to rerecord as he felt garys solo was excellent.this version is differnt from the nightlife .

  • @roshfar It was recorded in Eel Pie Studios on 1985 and releasad a B-side on the Outi I The Fields 12". Phil & Gary were not on speaking terms back in 82

  • @dannymcmince yes. i discovered this was the original about a month after posting my comments. i was shocked. cos it stated it was just gary moore & phil lynott i thought they had got together to record another version. i guess i had only ever heard the live and dangerous version with robertson's playing and lynott singing the whole song itself. not a fan of the original. too loose and loses it's emotion for me and moore's solo is not particularly fluent. love moore on black rose and in g force.

  • this is the version!

  • Happy Birthday Gary

  • Cant believe their both gone RIP.

  • did good guys thnx

  • I love this music.. my dream: could it be also in the Eternity?

  • Fantastic song, amazing sound. RIP Gary Moore (and Phil too).

  • R.I.P Gary

    R.I.P Phil

  • good song, funny, I would think I would remember a song like this because it's my type of song, but, I don't................and I remember almost all the songs from the 70s, even thin lizzy......

  • For all of you who think there is another plain we go to....well Gary and Phil will be rocking together again now....R.I.P..Gary....thx for the music you left us with

  • My all time favourite ballad! R.I.P Gary. God bless you

  • R.I.P. Gary...:-(

  • R.I.P

  • The God just needed lead guitarist and He takes the best. RIP Gary.

  • R.I.P.

  • Before it's said, yes I know it's not a Gary Moore song but to me he did it beautifully!

  • @GatoWales Actually, Gary supposedly composed most of the song, and he did the original solo!

  • My favourite Gary Moore tune. Legend will be sorely missed. R.I.P.

  • RIP Gary..

If there is a heaven, I'm sure you and Phil are playing right now.

  • Some songs just never get old.... RIP Gary

  • R.I.P Gary Moore guitar genius

  • RIP Gary

  • The greatest of Irish made magic on earth and now together in heaven...Gary Moore R.I.P. One of the best ballads and guitar songs of the century...

  • The spit-fire passionate fills by Gary Moore on the original w/Frankie Miller is the benchmark...the guitar playing is truly remarkably lyrical...take a listen to the re-mastered version...37 years later it will be hard to put down.

  • Dont think you can beat the Live and Dangerous version with Robertson and Gorham but if you havent seen One Night in Dublin check it out for Moore and Robertson and bear in mind this is 30 years plus down the road. Moore cant sing for his life but Christ this song was written for his playing.

  • Robertson and Gorham from Live and Dangerous though if you haven't seen it try Moore and Gorham from One Night in Dublin for the guitar solos (not Gary's singing) as in many ways this is Moores song.

  • this is the very best version of this song

  • very nice version, but nothing compares the magic solo of John Sykes Live, but still this version sounds good

  • Real awesome version of the best power ballad ever.

  • they are the best, and Phill still is the best ever!!! Rest in peace my friend

  • Naa! not the best they did.

  • i like this version...and anyway phil could sing everything and make it special and touching..he's very touching on this one

  • Yeah I agree- Phils voice is timeless- I love this track.....& many more Thin Lizzy ones too........

  • The "original" released version of this song is from the studio album "night life", listed as gorham and robertson on guitar, but in fact they retained gary's guitar work and passed it off as the new hot-shot brian robertson (this track actually got them the new record deal after their split with the decca label).

  • still in love with you always has and always will be philo and gary's song. this is a s close as it gets to the two great guys doing their combined best to make that song a classic. take it in the context it is meant to be - a lifelong but troubled partnership between two great artists who recorded this at a time of big production styles.

  • this is probably as close as this song can be to how phil and gary actually wanted it - that's good enough for me and most true lizzy/moore fans.

  • @PMAR09 Gary and Phil were the best (love and hate) friends.

  • @PMAR09 I don't think they passed it off as Robbo's solo. Apparently, Robbo was asked to change it and he said that there was nothing he could do to make it any better. Lynott was impressed by that. No one else is listed on the credits except for Lynott.. But it'll always be Gary Moore's work. He was like.. 22 when he played on the song. It's still one of his finest. =)

I do think that Robbo does a fantastic job live. But Gary Moore all the way.

  • @mrsunshin3 come on ! the Live in Dublin 1975 version of the song has great solo by Robbo (you can find the video on youtube) and he was so young too, like 17

  • Guess everybody is entitled to their opinion. I love this version. It's the first one I ever heard and it was hard for me to find on the net after I lost the LP years ago. Thx for posting.

  • a dreadful americanised version of a brilliant song. sounds like it can't wait to finish! and as for those hideous echoey def leppard plodding drums! the thin lizzy original is heartbreaking. those keyboards sound like they've come straight from bbc's ski sunday!!

  • @strooka makes no sense lad!

  • comparing this to "Thin Lizzie"...I know Gary Moore is a guitar god? but I think I like lizzy's version better...more soul

  • Hi penthouse, thanks for the link to this

  • Check the Peel Sessions version out, it's my favouite

  • amazing song. im learning the solo to this

  • I lve Gary Moore but I much prefer the version with Frankie Miller singing a long.

  • Hi MarEstes is this version you mention on YouTube could you direct me. I think Frankie cowrote it didn't he?

  • No that's not the version. I don't think I have never seen the version with Frankie Miller on youtube. It's the album version though. You can find it on their best ofs an such. Frankie Millers voice is much raspier and the music is different. It is a wayyyyy better version.

  • that guy on the left look just like john c reilly from step brothers and such

  • beautiful song :'(

  • Very Powerful With Lynotts Voice 5/5

  • cancion tan bna
