My favorite music videos... hm. Japanese rising sun and Wrong Number. The dancing in Rising Sun is epic and the suits in Wrong Number are hot and the back story are really well thought out and look awesome.

That way the asian fanbase can still get their old-DBSK style music and new fans can latch to their new works. That or the new work wins because before I joined the Kpop/Jpop world I would have never liked this. I can't be an unbiased spectator because things I wouldn't even notice would be picked up in a sec by the culturally different American girls and especially the guys. It a new market, a new game with different rules. Christ If I could just get a hold of them.
This is not about the old fans. Yes, they are a market advantage but they should not be JYJ's target group because these chicks would buy a CD of Junsu hacking up mucus and praise it as the music of the Gods! These fans are loyal to ANYTHING about JYJ. New fans? They see the video, call them gay, laugh and move on. They need to be hooked from the beginning. So yes, female interaction will be needed. If they have to they can promote different works respecting the different cultures.

This is not going to go well if they are trying to break into the US market. The cultural norms here are different. Well, I only fell in love with them recently because I watched Sungkyunkwan Scandal with Micky Yoochun in it >_< but I fell in love with their music by watching the Tokyo Dome Concert and the song Bolero. I agree. As a cassie I love them. But everyone knows it's every Korean record label's biggest dream to breakout SUCCESSFULLY into the American Music market. JYPent ALMOST succeeded. But Lindsay has a point. Most of us were thinking it, she just actually had the balls to say it. Fact is, this is America. Call it racist, ignorance-- call it whatever, point is, the alluring tactics that worked in S.Korea won't work in America. To catch the interest of the "average" American they have to adapt.

Just watched the videos of the Seoul concert 11/28/10. You are responsible for them having to do their ballads with girls pawing them. I want to see them just sing with all their hearts and be real. What I really want is to see them be themselves and stop trying so hard to be what Americans want. Please undo the damage and tell them what we really want is the real them. They don't do well with girl dancers all over them and I don't like it.

And yes, those routines looked awful, but I blame bad choreography, not the idea. It has to be done effectively, and it hasn't yet. I still argue that they can appeal to Western audience and still be themselves, I pointed out in the vid I'm not asking them to do anything they haven't done before.

Another thing i think you shouldve mentioned is the lyrics sung by JYJ. I think phrases like "make you my baby/make me crazy" and "Im losing my cool/playing me for a fool" are too played out and therefore, no one really uses those lyrics anymore. The lyrics in present western music are now more sophisticated. Maybe JYJ sung these lyrics because it was best suited to their English speaking abilities.
Pretty good video response to jyj. I disagree about the makeup thing. Make up is okay(like to make the skin look lighter), just not makeup that is noticeable like eye liner or red lipstick.

That or the new work wins because before I joined the Kpop/Jpop world I would have never liked this. This is not about the old fans. Yes, they are a market advantage but they should not be JYJ's target group because these chicks would buy a CD of Junsu hacking up mucus and praise it as the music of the Gods! These fans are loyal to ANYTHING about JYJ. New fans? They see the video, call them gay, laugh and move on. They need to be hooked from the beginning. So yes, female interaction will be needed. If they have to they can promote different works respecting the different cultures.

This is not going to go well if they are trying to break into the US market. The cultural norms here are different. I'd have to say "Whatever they say" pure acapella genius - the way they harmonized just made me melt xD; favorite video would have to be O Jung Ban Hap, although Balloons comes a close second. I'm totally going to agree with you in saying they look gay. I like the band also, but when viewing the video I was like "DAMN IT!" people in American are very closed minded and I believe that a lot of people who don't know who they are will be like "What's with that guy wearing his girlfriend's shirt?" Well, I only fell in love with them recently because I watched Sungkyunkwan Scandal with Micky Yoochun in it >_< but I fell in love with their music by watching the Tokyo Dome Concert and the song Bolero. I agree. As a cassie I love them. But everyone knows it's every Korean record label's biggest dream to breakout SUCCESSFULLY into the American Music market. JYPent ALMOST succeeded. If they went back to the style of Rising Sun and Choosey Lover, I would throw myself back onto the JYJ fan boat with an immense amount of enthusiasm.
It would be easy to say that there's a level of superficiality turning me off at the moment, but the fact of the matter is that everything about pop music is about superficiality. What's acceptable in the U.S. is completely different from what's acceptable in South Korea-- so yes, they do have to adapt if they plan to succeed. Or so I think.

Just watched the videos of the Seoul concert 11/28/10. You are responsible for them having to do their ballads with girls pawing them. I want to see them just sing with all their hearts and be real. What I really want is to see them be themselves and stop trying so hard to be what Americans want. Please undo the damage and tell them what we really want is the real them. And yes, those routines looked awful, but I blame bad choreography, not the idea. It has to be done effectively, and it hasn't yet. I still argue that they can appeal to Western audience and still be themselves, I pointed out in the vid I'm not asking them to do anything they haven't done before.

Your review is highly appreciated but I can't agree for just one thing.They dont have to interact with a female to make a successful video.FYI it's not abt jealousy (Im old enough to realize that they arent mine) but it's all abt our sensitivity and culture.Plus,i've seen some MVs from American stars are doing fine without that kind of interaction :)

I probably loved "Whatever They Say" first. Love a capella and Jaejoong stunned me with how beautiful he is.
My favorite video? I think I have to vote for "Stand by U"
I just want Jaejoong to put the sex back in his voice. Some of the parts he has sung in the past sent shivers down my spine but he hasn't sung like that for a while. I miss it.
Other than that, probably spies. (Or Ninjas!XD)

ALRIGHT. The dbsk song that made me fall in love with them was actually choosey lover back in the beginning of 2007. (I thought they were -cough-gay-cough- when I saw the O music video in 2006). My fav music video will be my destiny for what, I don't know. Jaejoong's veiny hands maybe? And for the music video...I'd like to see a plot somehow, school uniforms like them modeling for SMART last time?

The TVXQ song that made me fall in love .. hmm.. Mirotic was the first MV I ever saw of them and that made me curious about all their other songs so I'll go with that :) .. I would say all of their live performances are breathtaking ^^. My favorite MV is Rising Sun .. it was just epic =D. I want to see them in an MV with an interesting plot and where they play dark characters (kinda like gangsters, like you said).

Honestly you point out a lot of good things about JYJ & how they should try to appeal to the American public more. Another thing i think you shouldve mentioned is the lyrics sung by JYJ. I think phrases like "make you my baby/make me crazy" and "Im losing my cool/playing me for a fool" are too played out and therefore, no one really uses those lyrics anymore. The lyrics in present western music are now more sophisticated. Maybe JYJ sung these lyrics because it was best suited to their English speaking abilities.

Pretty good video response to jyj. I disagree about the makeup thing. Make up is okay(like to make the skin look lighter), just not makeup that is noticeable like eye liner or red lipstick.
I agree with a lot of what you said, though when you said "gangsters" i imagined mexican/black/asian gangsters and thats not cool. But then you showed the clip of Jaejoong with the suit and the gun. Now the type of gangster i like - suited.
