Absolutely stunning! I agree that Alexander Schreiner's performance has always been the gold standard for me, but this is the only one that can compete...and of course, the recording quality is far better than it was 50 years ago. Even Columbia's engineers couldn't begin to deal with the full power of the Tabernacle organ, so Schreiner was constrained by the technology of the time. The sound here is amazing!
Thanks so much for posting and making me aware of this great recording!

Ben van Oosten is synoniem voor kwaliteit.
En dan ook nog eens dit prachtige werk van Louis Vierne op een van de beste Aristide Cavaille Coll orgels ter wereld.
Bijzonder hoge kwaliteit bijeen. Geweldig toch. Hartelijk dank voor het plaatsen. Merci bien.
Herzlichen Dank.

Today, 84 years ago was the premiere. On Tuesday 29th November 1927.
I think it's one of the most beautiful organ pieces ever.
Very very well played by Ben van Oosten!!!

Howonderful!
Wish I could give Louis a big hug for his magnificent composition.
Unfortunate thathe leading tone at 5:17 is short-changed. It should be EMPHASIZED.
The best recording I havever heard is Dr. Alexander Schreiner athe Moron Tabernacle Organ.
