theamazingfork1, at 2:33 it's a reverse fold inwards along the V shaped crease made at 2:15. Once you do that, both parts will be facing upwards. sorry if the explanation is unclear because i'm only 12 and I'm from Singapore :)

I just take A4 then fold a bit diagnally from corner and then rip rectangle off at bottom and it works fine for me.
