What a beautiful Afghan! I think Afghans are the most beautiful dogs on Earth though I love all dogs (and animals). You must be ever so proud of her. Her friends are wonderful as well - the little baby is so precious!
Maybe contact the Afghan Hound Association, here in the UK, they may have links with German breeders. Good luck. Issy's just come back from the vet after a check-up and to have her nails clipped - she doesn't like us doing them! She's in good shape, 13 years old now. Plan on putting some new footage on soon.
She is gorgeous! We have a lovely black brindle with a cream back leg.Her name is Mia :) Afghans are alot of work, but completely worth it! They are amazing dogs.
That's a very beautiful dog. I hope to get one soon, even though only a few people think it looks cool. The ones who like it say it looks "Like a Lynyrd Skynyrd dog!" but I don't know what that means. How tall do they get? And are they really active?
Hi. Thanks - they are very beautiful / handsome dogs - when you have one you'll find that everyone thinks they're cool... it takes ages to walk anywhere if you're out and about, lots of questions to answer and everyone wants to feel the hair because it's so soft.
I don't know about the Lynyrd Skynrd reference, unless it's to do with long hair - which is more of a dog thing, than a bitch. Boys are taller than girls and yes, they are active, you have to have room for them and take them out a lot. Better still, have 2 of them so they can exercise each other!
Thanks for the tips. I'm sure the walking thing won't be a problem, because I'll be living in Alabama, and I plan to take it out where my grandparents keep the cows, (but away from the cows of course,) to do its business there. It'll have plenty of room to run, though, so it will get plenty of excersize
Hello. Her dad was very white, her mum dark - she's a 'blue'. We showed her a couple of times when she was young (she's nearly 13 now), but it was very much a case of 'I've done that once - I'm not very interested in it... I'd rather go play' :-)
No, unfortunately we only have the room for one at a time. We have always gone to Training School, initially for the training, which she does well, again depending on her mood, but nowadays more for the socialising, so she can see her friends.
are there any agility schools in your area and do some Affie owners do agility with their dogs? I have seen some videos where the dogs are very good, some time too fast for their owners, but jump willingly and go through the tunnel without fear!
The nearest school is about 1/2 hour away and ours is the only afghan we've ever seen their. They are very rare here. she doesn't like agility and we don't do it anymore - she's never gone through a tunnel and is not keen on jumping - and we haven't really encouraged her too.. she used to jump a few fences when she was young, but not any more.
They can be mischeavious, but no more than many other dogs - you have to remember they're tall, so often their heads are at table height.... so you have to watch the food! They are very special.
Your right, they're their own person - Isabella has been going to 'puppy school' (dog training classes) all her life (she's now 12), for both 'socialising' and basic training - "down", "stop", "wait", etc., not usual for an Afghan, but she's very good and will do all those things if she's in the mood. I'd say they are easy to raise, probably better-off in pairs, then they can wear each other out!
Afghans are wonderful, wonderful dogs and not difficult to raise if you understand the breed and don't expect them to be like dogs in general....they are truly a different species...

yes, understandable at that age. Do you have other Affies that you show or do some training with, like agility?

Are Afghans easy to raise? I've heard they can be quite the trouble makers. Anyways, always nice seeing videos of Isabella. Thanks.
