  • I think with the Rifle being so quiet it takes away the fun of shooting and i am not a fan of super quiet AirGuns. They look really nice put i sounds like a spud gun.

  • That is a brilliant group at 40m! Yikes.

  • @carbonrocket Thanks. My own Air Wolf (.177, sub-12) can often do that at 50m, too. Needs a field-target 'tripod' stance

  • @TheShootingSociety Sod it, I will subscribe to you. You now have 20 subscribers and an extra couple of views

  • @carbonrocket Haha Thanks!!! you could have a chance to win a NIKKO STERLING CAP!!!!!!!!!!! when we get 1000 views

  • How would you like it if you got shot in the face with that rifle eh? Not very nice is it? Cruel hunters, I like airguns sure, I want to get in the hobby but im strictly AGAINST ALL HUNTING legal or not legal, its cruel, I mean what did the pidgeon ever do to you? NOTHING, so why do it? For fun? How about i shoot you and id say its "Fun", not fun for you, the thing getting shot.

  • @ThePokeCardCollector its not cruel pigeons squirrels crows rabbits etc are vermin and cause damage to farm land and spread diseases IE the grey squirrel (American) has driven our own reds out by spreading the highly infectious Squirrelpox Virus and a responsible airgunner would know this please take up the sport you wont regret it

  • @MegaJackpot180 I will regret it because i am a huge animal lover, my beliefs are that if you kill an animal if they havent tried to hurt/kill you, or if its not in a lot of pain then it should not be killed on purpose, I am not living on a farm currently, and i have no intention of murdering an animal for no particular reason, a quick and painless death would be better, you dont like being in pain and neither do they, im against every form of hunting and i will never kill an animal on purpose.

  • @ThePokeCardCollector ok im sorry didnt realise you were vegan

  • @MegaJackpot180 Oh no, vegans are a type of vegetarian if im correct, no im not and im not in any religion, its all just my beliefs about animal killing really :/

  • @ThePokeCardCollector oh ok i dont shoot Just for the fun i do eat everything except the rats

  • @MegaJackpot180 CORRECTION: If the animal is in ALOT of pain and is dieng, i would kill it because i hate animals being in pain, that means a pellet to the belly hurts the fuck out of the animal as it would to humans.

  • @ThePokeCardCollector I don't think any responsible hunters look on pest control as fun

  • Hey first of all great review, but i would like to know if it's possible to fit a bipod on those guns.

    Thanks

  • @Flatine1 Yep. I have a bi-pod fitted to my own AirWolf. No problem. There's enough wood in that lip at the forend, though you need to use a shorter threaded stud. HTH. Nige

  • So the Wolf has the same electronics as the Benjamin/Crosman Rogue. Both made in China.

  • @Trekkie1961 I think the Wolf's electronics are bespoked for the Daystate - and the concept has been around on a Daystate since the end of 2002 (i.e. a long time ago!). No idea where they're made... but most motherboards come out of China, of course.

  • i used mainly RangeMaster Lis and AAF 4.52s in the test rifles - the same as I use in my own Wolf. i find the shroud on my .177 is plenty quiet enough. In fact, I recently fitted a shorter one so I could add a Reflex, but I found the rifle just as quiet and have ended up discarding the Reflex and just sticking with the shorter shroud. It's fine for my field work. HTH, Nige

  • Hi nigel, what pellets did you test the air wold and ranger with, and what power does your wolf knock out and with which pellets, is the barrel shroud robust, only reason I ask is I have never been a big fan of barrel shrouds as everyone I have seen has had an additional silencer used, really like both guns though.

  • Hi Nigel! Great review and timed perfectly as I have been considering both of these rifles! After watching the review I am now of the mind to get an Air Wolf. I previously bought a Mk4iS but it just did not feel right. I currently have a BSA R-10 MkII which has been blueprinted and barrel shortenend by John Bowkett and Malc Barnard's BSA Scorpion SE which I love (YES! It's the one from his review). The Air Wolf will have very esteemed company once I have the funds.

    Thanks great review!

    David.

  • @yojimbosamurai11 Nice guns there, David! But you'll find the Wolf will top them all. I've had one since 2007 and there's never been a rifle to tempt me away... although, ironically, the one that's come closest is the MK4iS! Nige

  • @AirgunTV Thanks for getting back to me. It looks as though it will be an Air Wolf but must try one out to see if 'it feels right' for me.

    ATB!

    David.

  • Brilliant video keep up the great work

  • @philmcd831 Thanks. :)

  • Are they both the same price ?

  • @gunlovingcragrat No, afraid not. The Wolf is a couple of hundred £GBP more.

  • @AirgunTV wich scope?

  • @MrJohnny333 I used MTCs on both, including the new Genesis 5-20x50 LR (Long Range). It's AMD - Advanced Mil-Dot reticle is the one used on the collared's head shot; it's got a 30mm tube. The other scope was an MTC 4-16x44 Mamba Lite, which has the SCB - Small Calibre Ballistic - reticle and a 25mm tube. HTH

  • @ericthalfbee...The PCB's have a full conformal coating. These electronic guns have been demonstrated working UNDERwater.

Nice review of some top kit.

  • Great review nigel, I have always fancied an air ranger, but just been a bit reluctant to be honest as many guns claim to be 12 ftbls, but in reality are only about 10.5 ftbls set with heavier pellets, what power output were these knocking out nigel and with what pellets, and were they the same power output,

  • @mark2sharp As per the power graphs shown, Mark. In the UK, you'll be lucky to get PCPs doing very close to 12ft/lb with lighter ammo because of the way the law is; they have to be set safely under with the most efficient pellet (which is usually - though not always - the heavier brands). That said, I've been hunting on 10.8-11.4ft/lb for years now, and don't find it any less effective than when I used to shoot bang on the limit.

  • I'd just rather that circuit board was sealed. Damp boards soon go furry.

  • nice review,thx

  • Beautiful weapon, maybe one day :) Great review thankyou.

  • im torn between getting a air ranger or a rapid 7 i think the daystate looks better what are they like for reliability ?

  • Excellent, Nigel! And some smokin' groups using the Daystate pellets. I didn't fair as well with them with the Panther, so it goes to show you that you need to give 'em all a fair shake. ted.

  • Excellent review for an air rifle that costs over $2200 US. Wow! Does it make coffee for you in the morning? LOL! Thanks for your work. Otherwise I'd surely never hear of these fine rifles!

  • Hang about, doesn't the AirRanger have a regulator anymore? My older RWS Series 500+ has one just behind the filling valve- surely Daystate didn't remove it on the newer AirRanger models?....

  • @SuicideNeil

    No Reg mate :-(

  • @CHOPERUS23 Wow, that sucks- I can only assume they did that so that the AirWolf became the better choice for guys wanting maximum shot consistency. I'd rather have a mechanical rifle any day vs an electronic one with failing batteries and trigger mech that conks out. Looks like my old girl just went up in value... :D

  • @SuicideNeil

I must say Neil I bought an Airwolf 177 12ft/lb when they came out. I have never had an issue with the battery. Charge overnight and good for 1000's of shots before needs re-charging and with a good setup the trigger is fantastic. It is heavy yes but just as heavy as my Rapid. They are so accurate considering they are not regulated. Mine is the standard Airwolf not a fancy mct model. Have a video of doing a sub inch group outdoors at 100 yards on my channel. Rich

  • Fantastic Review, lets see more videos like this - thumbs up from me!

    ATB, Elliott

  • @elliottg123 Thanks, Elliott! :)

  • good review, however these guns are way out of my price range and i imagme most other peoples too! .. next time i would like a review on a gun a bit more affordable :)

  • @justinr714 I respect that that view, Justin. However, people still like reading about Ferraris etc. - and we will be covering plenty of guns from a more affordable range... ATB, Nige

  • great vid mate now they are some great looking guns there .

  • One day........!

  • The definative review of these two rifles. Job done. Well done team AirgunTV.

  • @AirgunGear Thank you guys.

  • Nice guns, the air wolf is my dream.

  • Great.

  • I have got Air wolf .177 Fac and I tested and use JSB Exact Diablo Heavy .177 (10.34 Grains) with other guns. Air wolf is too actually. Yes, it is expensive but it is very good guns. And also I have got Air Arms S510 .177 Xtra Fac and Air Ranger .177 Fac 60 cm barrel and 40 Fpe power. I said again. if you want actually, The first gun should be Air Wolf...

  • Bloody awesome video Nige I can see why it took so long now. Those groups with the Li's were unbelievable cant wait to get our hands on them.

    ATB Malc

    CPTV

  • @CountryPursuitsTV Thanks, Malc. 40 metres and with a bit of breeze (though not as bad as your Balloon Shoot Challenge!), too. At 55 yards, I generally got 25mm with the Wolf, and around 30mm with the Ranger. Used Daystate RangeMaster Li for them, though that new (secret) barrel technology Daystate are now incorporating gave similar results with most top brands. This summer, I want to see what my own Wolf (11ft/lb) can do on paper at 100 yards. I reckon I'll get groups <70mm from a rest. Nige

  • @AirgunTV Looking forward to that Nige I am really excited about receiving these rifles now.

    ATB Malc

  • Another faultless gun!

  • @Axbent With my Wolf, the main fault tends to be the person that has it in their shoulder!

  • I wish I could afford to buy an air wolf. Lovely looking rifle.

  • @TheSeanmccowliff I agree, Sean. They are expensive, but are not only the beez-kneez in terms of looks. They shoot so well, it's worth saving up to make the investment, as big as it may seem. Either model is 'the gun of a lifetime' - and as my tests showed, the Ranger is every bit as good as the Wolf, and cheaper.

  • interesting review...

  • @moonbear Thank you, Del. I was going to spend more time on showing their performance on paper... but they were so accurate, I decided the footage of one-hole groups looked a bit monotonous at the post-edit stage!!!

  • @AirgunTV you did right.. there was just the right balance from beginning to end ;)
