  • i like the last part

    "it's miracle"

  • '2 Pages a Minute!'

    LOL!

  • People always say nowadays "boah, that was slow" or "that was big bullshit". But the only thing that our generation reached was -only- the improvement of inventions or the senseless waste of resources (no matter if fuel, computing power, information space or whatever) , but -not- making own inventions. There was the sliderule, then the mechanical computer, then the digital computer. So, that is the "end of the flagpole"?'

  • What?

  • Could i write you it in German, so you can better understand it? Once again: The people turn old equipment still ridiculous because it is on their eyes slow, and i say that our computers from today are -not- an improvement compared to these old machines, because they cannot do -more-. These old computers were pure working machines and most computers of today are -toys-, which waste 50% of their computing power to show a nice user interface.

  • And i say that -there i am missing real inventions in computing since the invention of microchips and computers based on them.. The only things which happened since then was the reduction of the size, power consumption and more speed. But now the limit is slowly reached and it is time to invent something new, but up to the biometric processors there is simply nothing there. The whole "PC"-principle including graphical operating systems belongs into the waste.

  • He said "2 Pages a second"

  • a 2nd u mean?

  • @padawanmage71 "2 pages a second"

It was actually a very incredible feat for back then and is very impressive by today's standards. That's 120 pages per minute!

Most of today's machines top at 100-110 pages per minute.

  • didnt the arabs invent all these things??

  • The narrator in some of these is the late, great Alexander Scourby, notably on National Geographic specials and the series of CBS medical specials entitled The Body Human.

  • About the commercial at 1:52, is that an Alto the man is using? It sure looks like one, with the portrait-oriented screen...

  • Mail... ON A COMPUTER?!

Considering what most commercials were like in the late 70s this is wayyy ahead of its time.
