I love the look and layout but have to wonder...where the heck is the parking? Are they expecting Vikings fans are going to park in the 394 ramps and WALK up to 2/3rds of a mile to the stadium...or cram their way onto an over-crowded light rail train to save them the walk? This site needs serious PARKING to be viable
pause the video at 1:19 and the red sheds is where the farmer market is going to be. It will cost a lot more to have a team move back then to keep them!! Trust me we will want a team back pretty much day one if they move. It happened with basketball and hockey. Almost happened with baseball and now Football.......
North dakotas economy is exploding and maybe if boston scientific didnt have to pay the joe mauer stadium tax minnesota might be looking slightly more attractive for investors to invest in our strength industries.
Or we could spend a ton of money send medtronic to texas just to give local businesses an extra 7 home games a year doooo doOOOOO
Bye bye target, bye bye best buy, bye bye boston sci hope your investors try to get you fired if you keep your offices in this anti-business state.
The parking is next to the farmers market. Also there is more parking under the freeway. Not to mention the very larger ABC ramps used for the Twins/Wolves. Also all the parking where ppl tailgate next to the dome that they can still use. The incinerator is next to Target Field in screen at 12 sec there is a shot with four different angles the bottom two show where they are. You also might like to know they showed the SW lrt line running in the screen shots. Hope we build it here. :)
@madlib696 Parking UNDER the freeway + 394 ramps for 60-70 thousand fans? (Plus the overlap that would occur when the Twins are also playing) Seriously? I've seen those spaces and they are insufficient BIG TIME Please be more realistic. If this site could possibly work it simply needs to be bigger, more acres, more parking...or ask the farmers Market to move outside of the geographical footprint of this proposal so that the fans can park. Plus there will have to be 1-3 new BIG municipal ramps
@mnpopeye Now those mysterious buildings they say would be set-aside for HOTELS and retail and entertainment (blah blah whatever) there may be room to build some monster parking ramps...along that questionably feasable elevated plaza/ walkway that runs between the Stadium and Target Field...THOSE spaces could be used for parking
@LuckierHal the sports teams are some of the best things that ever happened to minnesota. if they loose the vikings alot of people would be pissed off
@LuckierHal Might want to check that math again. The stadium is expected to produce over $750 million in tax revenue alone over the next 30 years. I'd say that cleanly offsets the costs. That doesn't count the 7,000 construction jobs (an estimated $300 million of the construction cost is salaries for workers), the hundreds of millions in taxable player/coach/employee income, or any of the dozens of other benefits to the state.
The Vikings want Arden Hills until it's proven it's impossible to build on that land. This plan does look like a good 2nd plan incase the Arden Hills plan fails.
Wilfs and Vikings should definitely consider this. Lucas Oil Stadium is a beautiful facility and its an retractable roof stadium with a protective cover over the interior. imagine the colors of a minnesota winter shining in through the roof during a vikings game. it would be a sight to see. and a much, much cheaper one. LucasOil was roughly 730 million
then all mn sports teams except the wild would be in one huge block in minneapolis. it would be amazing
Fuck yeh make it happen

@mnpopeye It pains me to say this because I am a big NFL fan and losing the Vikings to LA or (almost as bad) Arden Hills would be a travesty...

So, I can't see the farmer's stands in any of the photos. Are they *in* the stadium?
In all seriousness, just keep it all as is. If the Viking can't make money in MN, just let them move out.
What's the point of paying $400 million to keep them here?
Taxes? Nope, not near enough to offset $400 million.
Pride? You measure you civic pride through your football team?
Why?
How about we hire back 400 full time teachers and pay them all 50k for 20 years?

@xxcowsxx I agree with you 100% and sports are very important. However, it's just too much money.
I think we need to get our priorities straight.

The title is misleading. It should say "New designs show Colts' Lucas Oil Field on farmers' market site".
